AVOID THAT PLACE!
If you think about ordering on line and delivering to this location - you may not receive your package. Two packages were recently stolen from my son however post office had claimed both of them to be delivered. Both of the times we were at home checking if mail arrived, especially the second time. When my son went to the location, he was told that there is nothing that they can do, because ... the packages were delivered. So who is responsible for my lost items?
Use different location or different services.

Can you believe the retail (live person staff help) hours you can have with this? This is the main post office in Chicago with amazing hours for those who need life help with packages or express mail or passport services. You can ask someone if you have everything ready for the renewal or first time passports and mail it from here. They say you should expect express passport service to be processed in 3-5 weeks so for regular passport service maybe 1-3 months ish. Plan in advance. It’s vast and nice and you have escalators to go up to the service floor. On the floor above parking which is free… which is a rare thing in downtown Chicago to begin with…There’s a self service mail box area for stamped and metered mail so you can drop off and go. The staff were friendly and nice and at 9:00am on a Tuesday it was not busy at all and I only had about a 10 min wait with 3 people ahead of me. I will come here whenever I need to do a late night run.

I’ve been contacting the post office and going to this location for over a week asking them to actually investigate my lost package. Check surveillance - ANYTHING. My 2023 MacBook Pro was stolen at the West Harrison Post office and USPS won’t do anything about it. Elsa Garcia (the clerk who took my package and asked what was in the box) told me I couldn’t insure the package. I suspect that she had something to do with the theft. The people that USPS employs is laughable. I will never mail anything of value through USPS again and I suggest you do the same. Unless you live in parts of the country where people are morally correct. Not Chicago, Illinois. I’m out of $3,000 but I will return back to work today and not continue to chase a package that I know was stolen at this location and receiving no help on locating from the USPS

I came in on a Thursday around 1:30pm for fingerprinting services. The older gentlemen with brown hair and glasses was very kind and patient with helping me. Ultimately, the machine could not detect a couple of my prints, but that’s the government for you and not the individual helping me that day. They need to update their fingerprint capturing machine to accept finger by finger or update their machine since this isn’t the first time my fingerprint wasn’t accepted at another location. I commend the workers who have tried to help me, and am really disappointed in the governments tech.

Worst USPS ever! The staff is very rude and uncooperative. They also use foul language. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. Government should employ new people because the current staff is really arrogant and doesn’t know how to do their job and talk to people.

Do not use their drop off service. Your item will never get scanned and will be “lost” aka stolen. I’ve used this location several times but I have always waited in line to drop off a package. This time I did not have a chance to wait and used their drop off service which I have used with other usps locations several times with no issue. When I noticed that my package tracking number had not updated I came to ask why my package was not scanned/not delivered, the gentleman stated they don’t have the ability to scan every package through their drop off service and not to worry it’ll eventually arrive to the destination. This is false because the other locations I have used have always updated my tracking information within 24hrs. Now I’m out 90 dollars on a package because I did not choose to wait 30 minutes in line to get a receipt. I will never use this location ever again. Incredibly disappointed

Post office is huge. Clean and efficient. The lines sometimes can get rather long at this location with one person working the front but overall you can pick up and drop packages walk in if need to do an address change or do it online.

Two ladies & a gentleman are the employees I see most. One lady and the gentleman are great, but I rarely see that lady anymore. The lady I see most often - she always immediately gives the most generic "no" that requires the least work for her & idk how many times the other lady & gentleman have had to correct her & tell her she's wrong. When they're not there to correct her is the worst because I have to come back another day for no reason

I don't know anyone's names, but I'm sure the employees know who I'm talking about. This "no" lady has also been here the shortest amount of time out of the three & my gosh does it make going here a stressful and wasteful time too often & for no good reason

Whoever the old hag was working the evening (830p) on 10/11/23 needs to be fired ASAP. Never met someone so rude when they’re so ugly with their balding ghetto self, wearing a bogus wig/head piece. Why are you working if you prefer to gossip, curse and insult people?! Why don’t you just retire? You have to be of age by now. Regardless, that old bag doesn’t belong behind any form of desk and needs to be gone!

This post office building is so large and impressive! I couldn't believe that they're open so late and with multiple people working the front lobby counter. Parking was easy to find, and the building was easy to navigate. I just moved, and this level of service for a post office is definitely not what I had in Texas. I'll definitely come back again for future USPS needs.

Please make sure you plan with plenty of time in your day to make your way through the line.
I waited in line a total of 35 minutes to ship something I’ve prepared. People should be able to handle their quick drop and pay business while passport process should be handled at a different desk. This is absurd!!

I had my appointment today for my new passport and the African American lady at the front desk is extremely rude and lazy. Whiteout an explanation she was sending me to Walgreens to take my pictures there, I told her that I asked for the photo service when I booked my appointment, instead of her giving a nice and polite explanation she looked me and gave me this dirty look and again stated telling me to go yo Walgreens that they didn’t have service for pictures at the moment. I told her, excúseme? The gentlemen next to her just took a picture to the people in front of me so why do I need to go to Walgreens whe is clear that the people in front of me just had their pictures taken. She asked the gentlemen.. do you have time to take pictures when we have a line? ( it was only one person behind me) anyways, the gentlemen was nice to take me once he finished with the other costumers. While I was waiting for him to call me, she got up and went to the back to do nothing. She should have take my picture, but not. Not only that, I had to witness another costumer trying to say something to her and she was also rude to him.😡😡 send that woman home, clearly she hates working there, why do you have people that they just go for the money.????

Mr John helped us with both our children’s passport applications. He was super nice, efficient and helpful. He is the best USPS person I’ve ever encountered.

Very rude. They said they were fully booked that they have an appointment at 9:45 and they had nobody there. It was empty. Nobody came in for an appointment. Stay there for like 10 minutes nobody showed up and they still will not accept is very rude people.

Good post office. Extremely convenient open hours. They are open on Sundays! The building is big and reminiscent of days past. They have multiple self-service stations and several counters for customer service. They have a passport area as well and have some gift boxes and cards. The associate I dealt with was pleasant and helpful. The line wasn't long on Sunday afternoon and it was easy to find. They also have an ATM in case you need cash.
