I needed to have a custom made rug cut down to fit in a new space. Javaid and his employees picked the rug up from our apartment and had the rug cut and back in our space in a matter of few days. Javaid was in constant communication with me regarding several issues that came up. He was also very transparent in the cost as it did change due to some issues. I highly recommend Carpet Culture as a place to buy a new rug but also to have any existing rugs in your home altered.

As a designer, I love tackling new design challenges for clients. We merged two standard size rugs to create a large custom rug for a client and also scaled down a different rug to fit a specific area. Carpet Culture is one of the few remaining neighborhood places in SoHo that employs real craftspeople. The did an amazing job washing two of my mid-century Swedish rugs and an even more impressive job restoring one of them - it had a hole in it and extremely worn out pattern. Their crafts-people repaired the hole and the pattern imperceptibly and the carpet looks almost like new now. The owner is extremely friendly and easy to deal with. The price for these kind of repairs is quite fair. I feel fortunate to have this place available and highly recommend it.

Purchasing a rug, especially an expensive one, can be a daunting experience. Is it real, am I being taken for a ride, will it be switched before shipping? Even with excellent haggling skills, but without some expertise, what are the odds of finding an excellent deal at Istanbul's Grand Bazaar? (No offense.) Quality purchases require trusted maintenance so I was on my guard when I handed over to Richard the centerpiece of my studio apt., my silk carpet (purchased over a decade ago in Istanbul) to be cleaned. Not particularly careful while eating my meals at my coffee table, lots of spills did happen & so I was not optimistic that it could be restored. Wrong! Double cleaning & quality procedures brought this masterpiece back to its original luster. This time however I got smart & bought a clear plastic rug runner to protect against inevitable future disasters. Richard Afkari Rugs delivers!

Javaid and his team performed a miracle clean on my light pink Madeline Weinrib flat weave, that had taken a beating over the years with ground in dirt and was our sick cat’s favorite place to vomit in. It came back to us looking brand new with not a stain visible. The photos speak for themselves. Would not hesitate to recommend Carpet Culture to anyone!

This place probably sells some of the best vintage handmade Persian rugs you can find in the city. The owner is very knowledgeable and offers great advice on cleaning and maintaining the rugs. I think this is a great place to check out if you want to invest in a rug that can last decades!

A gem of a carpet store in the city. The team there are knowledgeable, friendly and just great consultants to help you with what you need. They have a wonderful selection and always happy to show you whatever they have. Absolutely no pressure sales (totally different to what I experienced at other carpet stores in the city). White-gloved door-to-door delivery. Just cannot say enough good things about them. A true treasure in the city.

Do not buy from this company!!! I spent over $6000 on a rug and paid extra for a “premium” rug pad. It took months to get the rug which they said they were “cleaning” it came with patches and the “premium” rug pad was a 3 strips of rubber badly duct taped together. When I called the salesperson, Ramin, and sent him pictures he said that was the premium rug pad he sends to everyone.

Cannot say enough good things about Javaid from Carpet Culture. The rug were BEAUTIFUL and he is so knowledgeable. We stayed easily within my budget and it looks perfect. On top of that he was grateful for the business and I was grateful for the fine quality and friendly service. :)

I have been a client of theirs for over 15 years. In addition to purchasing carpets for clients all over the US, eight years ago I introduced these beautiful creations to clients in Australia, where they have become an instant hit.

First of all, the designs are so unique and chic. The variety of options certainly affords one the opportunity to find the perfect piece for any setting, be it contemporary or traditional-or somewhere in between. In addition, they can be modified to meet any requirements. The custom capability with regards to color and size is limitless. One is not restricted in any way to the many color options that they do show-these are only suggestions. I have many times needed a totally custom color and each time they have provided it.

Next, the quality is superb. The work is so fine that the backs of the carpets are often as beautiful as the fronts! The dying process is so glorious that the colors translate wonderfully. The options with regards to materials available are tremendous. I have ordered carpets in nettle, wool, silk, mohair, and cashmere-and many combinations of these. They can be very thin or thick and shaggy.

The company is active in providing educational facilities for the children of weavers and has been most active in fighting the exploitation of children as workers. I must add that the process is handled in a timely and professional manner-and NEVER has a carpet taken longer thatn the original quoted time, even with the occasional earthquakes in Nepal.

Spectacular curation of area rugs in a stunning showroom which used to be a bank in the 1930's. Any degree of customization was possible. I worked with Holly on a totally bespoke silk shag, which took 3 months to be woven but the wait made it all the more other it. It is hands down the favorite homeware item I own and each time a guest comes over and ask about it, which they always do, I get to share the incredible journey this state of the art carpet made from Nepal into my home. It is a constant source of joy.

Doris Leslie Blau is the number one location in New York for vintage and antique rugs. I have purchased several and they are of the best quality possible. The last one I purchased was a large Tabriz is the focal point of my great room. It makes the entire room. My friends can’t stop looking at it. I am so pleased with all my purchases from Doris Leslie Blau.

This store is almost a scam. My boyfriend lives in Soho and we bought two carpets. Both priced very high, but they made it sound like a good deal. I don't know what laborers they use (all carpets are from Nepal) but they are definitely exploited based on the mark-up. One of the staff told me ("in confidence") that the carpets are sold at 20-25 times what they are purchased for by "the owner who visits Nepal frequently", she added.

Staff are friendly, especially the two people who helped us. But the carpets are average quality, and when we checked with other dealers, we realized how much we had overpaid and what we could have gotten for the same money elsewhere, even ABC Carpets.

I will never shop here again or recommend the store to anyone. My heart goes out to the cheap laborers slaving away in Nepal-they probably think they are making a fortune (maybe they are by Nepal standards) but this store is a poor venue to buy carpets for your home or office. Take your money elsewhere.

I used Carpet Culture second time and my rugs are spotless. I don't have a habit of posting reviews but I am very happy with their rug cleaning services. They did an amazing job and I couldn't be more pleased. I will use this company again for sure.
