Beautiful peaceful grounds with no cost to enter. Wonderful place to wander around and enjoy.
Before going to Borobudur, this temple is the first temple to be seen. It is a triad of Buddhist temples namely Borobudur, Pawon, and Mendut.

I don't get into the temple but to the monastery. The place is quiet, neat, and clean. If you want to pray, then go ahead.

Lots of photo spots, but, always remember even though this is can be said as a ‘tourist attraction’ but please be polite and follow the regulations there.
A quiet and clean Monastery with few people around, able to slowly enjoy sightseeing...
Mendut is one of the ancient buddhist temple in Indonesia. Located near borobudur temple, so you can visit mendut while exploring borobudur. Best time to visit is in the morning so you can avoid crowd and its not too hot either. I visit mendut to celebrate vesak day, so you can feel the crowd doing rituals together
The temple is well preserved. But the ruins and artefacts deserve a better place than leave scattered on the ground without any roofing protection
Entrance is free. Lovely place to walk around after a visit to the temple. We discovered this Sala Tree with its beautiful flower. We later found out that it is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and Himalayas.
Calm and beautiful temple area. Free entrance to the area and some buildings are also accessible for meditation. We had a charming talk with one of the monks.
This is not one of the 3 main temples, and we could walk in and explore freely. I though much more interesting and beautiful than the famous Borobodur structure. Some amazing moss-covered statues in the gardens and a beautiful prayer hall. Its definitely worth a visit.
