sad , it hasnt changed since the 1960's when it was a home for good children that lost their parents or were abuse by parents or lost their home to a house fire etc,,,us kids would get beat and treated like prisoners and talked to like we were nothing or worthless . there was even a room in the cherokee unit that was a lock up,like in the hole in jails.

Very dirty and ghetto. Meaning staff are trea

This locations number is incorrect please fix it, thanks.

Building community one heart at a time. And the volunteers and staff are soooo amazing!***stars are everywhere***

Someone turned me on to this place for a quick free bite to eat. I should have turned away when the four turkey guards told me I had to leave my purse at the office. I didn't feel comfortable with that knowing they would search my purse with me knot being present and steal something. Low and behold sknot turkeys stole my social security card. No good deed goes unpunished.

I got nothing bad to say about the Philly house, I did spend 37 days there between October and November last year, staff are very nice people food not a 100 Porcent but a least they feed us everyday.

At the time of writing this I am homeless, and while as a woman I can't stay here, I can get a good bite to eat twice a day. I used to come here rather frequently in 2022 when things were really bad for me. The staff is really great, Jose let me pray for the group once and that was cool. The food is just on point. You feel FULL when you eat here and the food is REAL, sometimes it feels like you are eating at a restaurant. I particularly appreciate that they still serve soda. If you don't have food stamps or SSI it's a real treat and makes you feel good. They have developed a good (and better) system for checking in bags and in a year I have never had a problem getting everything back. You are allowed to have your phone on you at the meal and they have charging stations. Women are allowed in first which is nice. I know they were more ministry oriented before the branding overhaul last year, but I am glad they are still keeping core facets of their services when it comes to the meals. Thanks for looking out for us poor folk and I'll be back!

This place sucks and don’t know how to treat people. They have individuals with problems harassing the people without problems. (There was a guy that clearly had mental issues spitting all over napkins and the table) They didn’t do anything to separate that individual and then I asked for a replacement soda and they gave me an issue. Make sure you have your patience when you go there. The employees absolutely don’t know how the treat the people there.

STAFF ARE BEYOND IGNORANT BUT LOOK AT THEIR POSITION SO IT SHOWS HOW BLACKS GETS THAT WAY.......FIRE ALL OF THOSE LOSERS

I helped out and didn't expect it would move so smoothly under the direction of the kitchen head man...I forgot his name but he is awesome.

My first time homeless in my life earlier this year at 59 years old. They treat everyone as if they are rolling out of prison or rehab. They got gangsta wannabe who act like prison guards in there who wake you up at 6am screaming and blasting gangsta rap. I have never been to prison or had a drug problem. But, inherently there, they treat you as if your homelessness is a result of you being in and out of the system your entire life. The owners are worthless and do nothing to help, unless you are in recovery. So, I should've pretended I had a drug problem before I went in there. The case manager is a joke.
He does absolutely nothing except give you printouts to "resources" while telling you that the funding is dried up.
That counselor enjoys free paychecks while doing nothing at all.
Had a staff member step on my feet and threatened me with violence. The case worker never helped in that matter. Same staff member broke HIPPA protocols by telling many people about my medical history.
I have traveled through 20 countries and this is one of the worst places i have ever seen.

Absolutely horrible, the people working here are unprofessional and slow, and there's not even enough people working here either, and to top it off you're forced to go through a security check, why do you have to go through a security check like your going to court when you're only seeking shelter or rental assistance?, and shouldn't people have the right to keep something on them for protection?, absolutely ridiculous, I hope this place gets shut down, no wonder so many people are still homeless to this day

They are not for the people because if your not there at 7 am they do not help black people, they only help white people with easy task like a bus pass ; they make you feel like your in jail ripping through bags saying you have to trash personal items that are not hazardous to the company/organization they say no phones allowed because your stalker can be waiting for you. Intakes ends at 4 but make people sit all the way up until 4:30 pm and say no more intakes This is not a place to go please go to Apple tree for shelter or housing assistance.

Do not smoke in the building and wash your feet and shoes. Don't be stinky❗
The air conditioner works when it is not needed. The staff is excellent.

They are there for da people and please do not disrespect the staff...

Enjoy doing missions here. Staff really care. Friendly & Family oriented. Love coming to give a little more HOPE. #H4TV

Metal detector, no coffee allowed. Lots of waiting with no information. Saw a person thrown out for dozing off! Not sure what's going on. Haven't seen anyone since taking a covid test. I will try to Stat positive! What's the alternative losing all hope

Very slow process bc of not having many people to work as caseworkers downtown in this city! Sadly ALOT of the homeless people are that way bc of this problem!
Even if THEY WE'RE JUST HALF AS FAST AS APPLE TREE ON 1430 Cherry Street it would make this process for the ppl that are already moving in slow motion actually feel as if they are BOTH getting somewhere and ACTUALLY HAVING ANOTHER PRODUCTIVE DAY INSTEAD OF 3HOTS AND A City!!

Open 24 hrs but won't take no one in, that there a p Process that I have to go through and I have to go down to 14th street told by the security guard

The front desk staff is friendly. If you feel led to give or donate to them, please call and ask what they need first!

Me visiting this center upset me because you would think one of a government building whether you going into the shelter or seeing someone for legal help on utilities etc. I waited 3 hours and still going on 4 hrs no one called me. I don’t think you should have to wait such a long period of time to be seen. For parents if you have kids please try to get someone to watch them because kids can only stay still for so long.

The weekend supervisor stole my husbands personal care products. On our last day their I came back from work to find our stuff packed up. That’s not a problem, but the weekend supervisor that packed our things didn’t pack up our personal care items. Such as bath items, hair product, body lotions. Etc. also we didn’t receive our important information out of the room such as. Birth certificates, Social Security Cards and marriage license for my family. We only recover our clothes and my daughters toys.
Other wise the stay their was nice. It’s unfortunate that leaving this shelter actually set the family back.

I spent 4yrs.. count em 4yrs in this facility when I arrived my son was graduating 8th grade when I left he was going into his senior yr of high school! The facility in itself needs some repairs definitely new wiring and new paint throughout, the bathrooms need to be updated but the individual rooms most families receive are ok some have heating that works some don't, in the summer same with the air, the food is mediocre but hey it's a shelter can't expect 5star cuisine, the staff mostly are on power trips and can be condescending and cruel especially if they for whatever reason don't like you and your family it can be like high school very clicky their are certain staff who go above and beyond to assist families the number one being Ms.Angie Baker & Ms.Lisa (front desk daily a.m.) other than them its up to each adult in the families to maintain their composure when getting challenged by others that includes peers and staff, after four yrs I received 1 yr rent payment from rapid rehousing after that I was on my own financially and that was in the middle of the pandemic so I really couldn't get no support because most businesses including (Pha & HUD) were closed, I was able to via my own moxie and a wonderful group of women to secure a emergency housing voucher via the Philadelphia housing authority ported it out to Montgomery County where thank god finally I reside permanently with the ongoing housing voucher, thanks to SFM the supportive few staff and the rest may God have mercy on you & everyone be blessed 🫶🏿🙏🏿‼️💯

This place seems like a shelter renovated from a prison you got to bring in everything yourself soap, toilet paper and detergent the rules are fair Monday-thursday curfew is at 9 on the weekends the curfew is at 11 the food is ok events also happen here too with lots of opportunitys to get daily essentials

0 stars. Food is trash. Rules are stupid & are only applied to certain families depending on certain staff(whether they fraternize with you or not). Bad phone service inside. Expects you to compete set chore daily, but will take 2 months to change a lightbulb and get your family out of the dark. Been stolen from by staff and actually caught one staff member in the act. Process of finding you a home is dragged out as long as possible especially for young, black 2-parent families. Staff turns a blind eye to domestic and child abuse when convenient. The worst staff member is a former user of the facility.
