Reviews

Best decision of my life. After the first visit I have the motivation to work on myself. The counselor is and easy person to talk to. Also telehealth is great to use.

Maybe I'm a bit biased here, but Being There's refusal to work with health insurers directly that throws me for a loop. Being There was a little "short" with my wife and I when it came to being paid by a certain time for my son's session. Added to this is my lengthy process in trying to get reimbursed for the appointment (as a covered session) by my health insurer, having to submit my own documentation to them...and waiting more than 2 months at this point for any results. Seems lazy that Being There chooses not to work with any insurers directly...at least not to my knowledge.

ASHA Sober House (Amos Supportive Housing Association)
I didn't know there were going to be roommates in same room until move-in day. I was desperate so I agreed. Wish I would have known before and not waited on a waiting list. I should have gone to Oxford House. Kara said that there are only 2 people in rooms unless there are emergency situations. Somehow there were several emergencies and there were 3 people in my room at one time. In the girls room they maxed it out at 4 at one point. (4 girls x $500 per month=$2,000 for one room) They will max that house out at 12 people and one in the tiny house outside. 13 × $500 = $6,500 per month for one house. And they will force you to go to 5 hour-long meetings each week plus an extra event and three coach meetings a week wether you need them or not. They will also charge Medicaid for all these events. That's an extra $25 per meeting at least so that's an extra $225 a week they get paid. An extra $1000 a month per person. So...13 people x $1000=$13,000+$6,500=$19,500 to rent the whole house.
You would think they could afford a working clothes washer. The agitating mechanism didn't work, so clothes came out dirty. They said they couldn't afford to fix it. I believe otherwise.
Kara who manages UAs will text you at 8:45AM for a UA and expect you to be there by noon. What if you were at work? What about transportation.
I was under the impression that everybody would have to pay $665 to get in but it turns out that not everybody has to pay to get in.
You can get a grant and come off the streets without any effort.
2-4 beds in each room
Ask to inspect where you are moving exactly. The picture isn't accurate. The picture didn't show the bed bugs. I have those pictures if you wanna see it. The house has a hot tub. It doesn't work though.
Wait list? ...what and where am I waiting for. A slum? A ghetto? People just out of jail. People with mental health issues. Bums.
In Oxford house, you can be voted out for bad behavior example: not doing your chores or using substances. At ASHA you can be a slob and get away with it for the most part.
If you have your own recovery groups you prefer over ASHA groups, you likely won't have time to go to them, or you will be burnt out on ASHA groups because groups are held Tue, Wed Thur Fri Sat at 5PM and house meeting Monday morning at 8AM. If you are not scheduled for work, you will have to attend all these meetings held at the house. This won't leave you much time to prepare your own meals so, prepare to eat bologna sandwiches, frozen pizza, and MacDonald's if you can afford it.
This company likes to text a lot. I feel like texting is impersonal and leaves out a lot of information and emotion leading to incomprehensive communication. You would think that a counseling company would strive to have clear compassionate communication. When getting on a wait list for ASHA House, you will feel left in the dark and not knowing what you are getting into.
The curfew is at 10PM, unless you are working. Initially, Kara told me curfew was 11PM but then when I moved in, I found out it was 10
The house manager likes to come in your room without knocking as if urine analyses weren't enough supervision. He wants to see you naked. Locked doors are against the rules.
I was thankful to have a place to stay but if I would have known what I was waiting for, I would have searched elsewhere.
Good luck on your path to sobriety. It helps to have support, but there surely are better options. :)

I really appreciate my therapist here and the people she works with to get the paperwork done! My therapist here has helped me through so much and I've grown so much with her and am happy to continue growing with her! The office/waiting area is very cute and cozy. The rooms all have their own white noise outside of em so I've never heard anyone else and I think it's the same for others. My therapists room is cosy and has things to fiddle with too! It really is my safe space and I'm so grateful to identify insights

They have a new recovery place for short term seclusion. And a kitchen and you can sleep and get coffee and a snack if hungry and meet people. There hang out is open at3pmto 7am. I get down there for laundry and too chill and watch TV about once a week or more

The Hangout is not what you would expect. It's run by Amos Counseling, but the employees do not know how to counsel everyone needs individually. They charge Medicaid for services even to just use the restroom. They pick and chose which rules are good for some but not others. I believe it's more of an harmful environment

I attended dui classes with Marty as the host and it was great. I thought the classes were in a comfortable atmosphere, and other attendees were also respectful. This was the best way to spend court ordered classes, but I would go otherwise if I needed help again. I recommend Amos to everyone. Good prices too. A friend went with a different organization before I was in class, and he said that location was super judgemental and negative. I am grateful I ended up in Marty's office, and in her class. Thank you Marty!

They claim to help recovering drug users and alcoholic to recover but they don’t. My mother has been through this program more than once and they have done nothing but make the problem worse. Her recovery coach can’t even help her when she needs someone to reach out to because she is “practicing setting boundaries”. They claim to have a system that the people in the sober house have to follow to make sure they are following the program but didn’t even bother to try to make sure my mother who is a diabetic was okay after her no showing up for the check in times for three days. I tried to call the main office to see if she was okay and all they could tell me is we can’t deny or confirm anything about my mother when she has in fact filled out paperwork for me to call and ask about her. Amos counseling is a disgrace and it’s sad that it is one of the very few options for recovery places in this town.

Finding an excellent therapist is a daunting task when you're needing the help. Finding Daniel was the best thing (ok...maybe one of the best things) that happened to me in 2021. His style of practice was patient and very efficient, and it was a safe place to say what needed to be said. Great therapists are (I feel) a rarity. As soon as I walked in their doors I felt the equanimity and good vibes, and they worked well with my schedule. My thanks to everyone there. You do great things.

Wonderful caring people that helped me through troubling times. Thank you Katy, Alicia, Michael, Wendy and everybody at Alpha Center.

When I was struggling with finding myself and my purpose they were extremely helpful. There was care and compassion and absolutely no judgment. I would recommend them to anyone. They made me feel like a person not a number, plus they accept my insurance. Wish I could give them 100 stars.

I should have listened to the other reviews. I want to Amos counseling to try and get an ESA letter. I already had a therapist through my school and was nit looking for another. I thought I had made this abundantly clear early on but apparently I was wrong. Not only did they fail to check with me to make sure I wanted counseling. They ran me around in an already bad mental state and signed me up for an intake session while I was under the impression that they required it for all patients. They didn't even do that very well, as my Thursday appointment was suddenly on Tuesday and over the phone. I apologize if I was unclear during the intake process, but you think they would have the common sense to double check. Ecspecily since I made it clear I was unsure what I was doing. They then called me in today (with little prior warning) and told me I had "misrepresented myself" and would be refused treatment. Not a place I would recommend. But the doctor and front desk attendant did seem friendly enough. Not the worst, but I'm glad I didn't waste any money on them.

Katie is amazing. I would recommend her to anybody

Highly recommend Catherine for your counseling needs.

Krista Carpenter took me in and I couldn't be more happy with her. She's an amazing person and really knows how to get to the bottom of things. Definitely recommend her to anybody who needs a therapist/life coach. She was so kind and understanding of my difficult situation. Thank you very much for your time Krista! -JP

Absolutely the best counciling center I have ever been to! They went out of their way to help me with a problem in another state. Got me in classes straightaway. Made me feel comfortable even though I have social anxiety. Marty was awesome, she made sure the services were affordable. Then when my husband died The whole office was there for me and my child!! Jamie made sure we were ok. She even came to our house to check up on us. Then when my child got in some hot water they were there to rescue us again. Bonnie was amazing, taking time to go to meetings with us. I would have never gotten this response from Mind Springs! For those of you who want to be cruel because you had to pay for your services, I want to see you go and work for free!!!!!

Stephen, Rebecca, and Cory are experienced, professional, and caring counselors who will provide excellent care and compassionate support for you in any situation, challenge, or life stage. I highly recommend this office for quality and trustworthy counseling.

Nice people and good company. Just wish they’d have someone to answer phones during COVID it’s hard when they don’t want you in the building but nobody is there to answer calls.

I have experience working with Robin Levitt, MA, NLC, LPCC from a professional perspective. In my time knowing Robin, I have seen how compassionate and caring she is for her work and the people she works with. She has a kind heart and is very skilled professionally. She is helpful when other members of the community need personal and professional support. I can't recommend her enough -- for people seeking help as well as therapists in the area looking to make a referral to Robin and the Lotus Counseling center.

Tycee helped me reshape my entire life. I am forever thankful for her wisdom and guidance. Highly recommend!

I had Kyle for two years as a counselor and he up and dumped me for no good reason. So I won't be recommending him. And gave me a bunch of excuses.

Stephen is kind, empathetic, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend and do so often to others!

Dr. Daniel Be is very smart and good with whatever situation is going on in your life. Would recomend.

If you just need someone to talk to for an hour, Laura is great. If you want to learn coping mechanisms, find answers, figure out whether medication would be a good option and what kind you need, connect with an individual who cares for your safety as a professional, learn what triggers your anxiety and depression, or try and solve any emotional issues, I'd recommend someone else.
I had to cancel an appointment because I was sick. She told me she would get back to me after she looked at her schedule. She never got back to me. On our first session I wanted help with medication, as in what ones to try, what might work, and what I need. Nothing. First session, I said I wanted to learn how to cope with my anxiety. After almost a dozen sessions, nothing. It was just a place to kill an hour. I don't know about the other individuals who work there, but if you have serious issues like ideation and anxiety that keeps you from living your best life, you might want to look elsewhere.

Incredible services.

I am a counselor and I HIGHLY recommend Stephen Anthony. He is genuine, caring, and compassionate. He is also highly experienced and knowledgeable in his profession. Keep up the great work, Stephen. God bless you!

Stephen is a caring and compassionate counselor. He is full of God’s wisdom and he has been a saving grace to our marriage in a time of need.

I have utilized Being There Counseling services for over 10 years. I rely heavily on Donna's experience, wisdom and candor for my own personal growth and for those patients I refer to her on a regular basis. I give Donna, Daniel and Tycee my highest recommendation.

Great for putting your own life into perspective

Kyle is a fantastic therapist I've had the pleasure of knowing as a colleague. I would highly recommend his valued services and anyone going to him will receive only the best in addressing their therapeutic needs!

Kyle Davis is a non-judgmental, open-minded counselor. I feel safe sharing the things I can barely admit to myself sometimes. He makes you feel like you have an ally, a confidant. I’ve been to so many counselors who rushed me or made me feel like they weren’t even listening. Kyle doesn’t do that. He takes his time and seems to carefully consider everything I’m saying, and even the things I’m not saying. He’s very intuitive. He sees me. He gets it. I’m thankful for his perspective and the way he reframes situations so that I can approach them from a healthier place.

Kyle is a wonderful counselor! I would recommend him to anyone!

Prob the worse place to get help you can ever get i would deff do your research before comming here for sure. All other options are better thrn this pos place

If you have to do any court ordered classes this is where you should go. I love Catherine and her classes so much, they really have changed my life.

Amazing place! Dawna BE is great she knows he stuff. Have helped me greatly.

Chelsea has been an incredible blessing to our marriage, I highly recommend her!

Found them online and requested more information. Got a call from Cori the same day and she answered my questions beautifully. First appointment with Stephen went great. He's a great listener and made some excellent observations, helping me connect dots that I never had been able to on my own. This is my first experience with professional counseling and I couldn't be more pleased.

Our Grand Junction community is extremely fortunate to have Devin. Not only does she provide expertise in gender therapy and many other areas, her integrity and honesty set her apart from all the rest! We recommend her frequently and are never disappointed.

Thank you for your support and sponsorship of our organization! Our members are very happy with your services!

I've witnessed firsthand the remarkable results Krista has been able to achieve with her clients. She's helped one of my good friends be more in the moment and enjoy life more fully. I highly recommend her services for anyone in need of a kind, knowledgeable and professional therapist.

I've recently had the opportunity to work with Krista. She is kind and compassionate and really cares about her clients. She is uplifting and stands up for her clients' right to happiness and empowerment. I am totally impressed with her!

Krista is an extraordinary counselor, she has a natural ability to connect with people at a deeper level and help them feel at ease. She is extremely professional, insightful, and positive. I have been going to her for a year now and I wouldn't choose anyone else to journey with me through my struggles and accomplishments. I highly recommend Krista Carpenter.

Krista exceeded my expectations as a therapist and I was blessed to have her support during a hard transition in my life She was extremely relational, non-judgmental, and compassionate. She is more than a counselor, she is a healer. She was able to validate my experience, hold acceptance, and encourage me toward positive life affirming changes.

Krista Carpenter with Lotus Counseling is AMAZING! I cannot recommend her highly enough. I have tried different therapists in the past and Krista is the perfect fit. She has so many different tools and insights. She has helped me improve work life balance, work through a divorce and deal with my food, weight and body issues. I see her regularly and feel so blessed to have found her.
