I was just checking this non-profit out, and based on their responses to the reviews, it’s evident how they treat people. The person responding as the “owner” clearly lacks empathy and demonstrates low emotional intelligence. It’s truly sad to see.

Brings back a lot of memories, from when I worked on the buildings. Back in 80's I was part of ROP, Regional Occupational Program "Construction Trades" for Kellog House, and Maag House. Stripped the paint around house, replaced some of the wood floors in Kitchen, and access to basement. Basement was never built, just covered access with new Togue and Grove. Move, and cleaned inside. Had full access to balcony and roof. Cleaned and stripped ornamental plaster outside between floors by torch and by hand, and all the wood siding. Later, once the Maag house was delivered, we explored the entire attic, and found a packrat nest under floor boards that contained pictures, some costume jewelry, and gave it to contractor to be added to archives. Back then times were different, there were a few of us students that contributed to the restoration. One thing I also remember, is that the original site was larger, and there was suppose to be a pond or lake with underground grotto with glass viewing wall into water. I still remember when we were drilling into the soil and hitting a large rock that swung the John Deere Tractor around. And we also found ammunition, from when Santa Ana was a Army Base, buried in the soil. My main focus from having taken the class was to become an architect. Instead I became BIM Specialist on John Wayne Airport Expansion, San Diego International, Cleveland International, Anaheim Police Department, New Long Beach Courthouse, Universal Studios, and many other theme parks and government projects.

Initially I got a good response from Ms. Elle and now she is not responding my call or emails. I talk to another guy and he is very aggressive and completely non-responsive.
This is not the way to serve the community who is looking for some support.
The response is completely partial. To get the document is my legal rights (irrespective of knowing my purpose to receive the document). You told me let it go, why I should let go my right and just let the landlord violate the rules. When I mentioned that there is a violation of lease term and I need your help, how can you guide me, you just told me that let it go or go to the OC Superior Court but not even ready what is the process to do that (I don't need legal advise but just want to know the process. This is the basic help I need from "The Fair Housing Council of Orange County".

Go online before you go because not even over the phone do they tell you to go on their website first to make an appointment.

I received decent information from Dave, but needed to coax it out of him. Tenants need reliable sources that are willing to share accurate information.

This place needs to get defunded. People need to speak up against this tyrannical treatment. Oc needs a new government funded program, one that actually wants to do there job and treat others with dignity and respect.

For the moment I am disappointed that I have called 3 times and couldn't get anyone to answer any of the extensions I tried. Also, on the 3rd time I tried to call, the answer machine cut me off and did not allow me to complete my message....I tried again and same thing happened. I will try again tomorrow as I really need their help but this was discouraging.

It is a great place to hang out in. Good live music, and free from smoking. They have good wine. If looks small from outside but once you are in, it has a good size.

I came here twice. Once yesterday and once a few weeks back. Both days they were closed despite my arrival being in their “regular operating hours.” They posted ads online on their new exhibitions both times, but they were closed. Last time they had a sign “will be back in 5 mins” but we waited there 15 mins.

9/27/22 Very RUDE! Good luck getting through. If you do get through, be prepared for the following: Rudeness, unprofessionalism, lack of knowledge. I spoke with Liz and she was VERY rude!!! Sounded like she must be miserable with her job and took it out on me. Hoping she finds a new job soon where she can be happy and thrive.

I called to inquire for housing and explore my option bc I’m recently homeless. The lady I was speaking with suggested I move out of state, “ housing is cheaper in Michigan,” I live in Ca , my job is here, my life is here. Im not asking for a handout im asking for options. She was rude, discouraging and not at all sensitive to my issue. This office needs to go through calls, and improve their services. What am I paying my taxes for? Does anyone do their job? This office seems inefficient and mediocre at best. Im sorry lady, do your job and don’t recommend ppl to move out of state.

She has issues filling simple documents for simple case divorce it takes 4 years and still, she is submitting the wrong forms to the court.
I don't recommend her to anyone.
This is an honest review and trusts me I didn't want to leave her review but after the last rejection for the files she submitted, I am sure she doesn't know the basic to file simple documents.

The Family law center with the attorney Joanna L. Wong lost the case for a simple family court in orange county court and the lady couldn't even submit right papers to the court office.I am npt recommending this public Law Center to any one in California.

***** WARNING TO ARTISTS *****

I participated as an artist in an OCCCA exhibition. Detailed repacking instructions for return of artwork (with photographs!) went ignored. They literally placed the framed oil painting in the box, then shoved all packing materials (including 4 form corners that should have been attached to the frame) to one end of the box, taped it shut, and called it a day.

The expensive frame was severely damaged. This is shameful! Communication with exhibiting artists always comes from the Director. In this instance, nothing ever came from the Director, all communication was from someone whose title was "secretary", who ultimately handled return shipping of my now damaged painting over to an off-site person at some college down the block.

DISGRACEFUL!

Great student appreciation, had tacos and drinks and students had gift bags.

I just LOVED the help! I was referred to Diamond Tran to help me finalize my adoption paperwork. She helped me in every step of filling out my forms and guided me through everything! She responded so quick to my emails we finalized everything in three months (With Holiday and Covid delays) I would definitely recommend to anybody who either doesn't have money to spend on all these expensive attorneys!

Not honest company, claiming themselves as a low income apartments, where tennands must complete yearly evaluation to qualify to live there, nevertheless Stepping Up keeps increasing the rent regardless of the income. My first increase was 4 month after I have moved in. Then each year additional increase of the rent. As I am a single mother with two children my rent now is twice of my paycheck (one month rent is equivalent to two months paychecks). Why they forced the tenants to complete yearly low income documentation when they still increase the rent up to the point when tenand is not able to pay and forced to move out to nowhere. The administration told me many times that they do not force me to stay at their property and if I don't like the price I am free to go. As a reminder stepping up claiming themselves as a low income, meaning they get tax deductions while while forcing a mother with two children to have a choice between the rent amount twice bigger than the paycheck or the advise that t company does not force me to live at their property. More, when my documents got stolen and I have asked copies of my documents which I have provided to them yearly, they refused me, they simply refused to give me to give my own documents. When bird mites from the nest next to my window were biting me and my children for a week, and it took a week to realize I was dealing with bird mites, the manager was smiling to my face accusing me and my children have fleas, it took two years to see another case with bird mites to realize the bird mites existence. Do you think they fix the problem? Of course not! I still live with the sealed window and not able to use the room in order for me to protect my children from the bird mites. And now they just increasing the rent as simply doubling my monthly paycheck. And when you see the comments like those : "Great Service to the Community. The Stepping Up College Awareness is Outstanding." Please know there is tears and desperation of real tenants while the employees of stepping up putting alike reviews

I lived at their property for 10 years it was nice the people who work here are amazing and so helpful

I come down for Santa Ana Noise Fest and its really great to have a venue that supports experimental music year after year.

Great staff, they truly care. What they do is admirable and I know they would help every solid case if they could. From the is selfless attorneys to the wonderful staff who greet callers with patience and sincere compassion, please listen carefully with respect if you call on them. They are there to offer their expertise.

Very unprofessional and unpleasant employees. Treat refugies as animals. They simply refuse to help stating they’ve got too many cases like yours. Attorney named Solange doesn’t know anything about immigration law and frequently steps out to get some food dispute the fact you’ve been waiting for her for over 2 hour. She informed that she will be in touch and she never did. They simply forget about you.

Great Service to the Community. The Stepping Up College Awareness is Outstanding.

I asked them to help me with my landlord and roommates who have broken into my room keep me up all night and day. They pretty much work for the police since the police would not help me when I reported the break in. They don't want to harm the P. D. In any way. They told me they have too many cases, and she wasn't going tell why they couldn't help me, but I asked her at the end of the call. The person who helped me was Diana Santa Cruz.

I've had my ups and downs but in the end I honestly have to say that these people care about people and the homeless problem, and go above and beyond to help.

Went for the first time with my daughters. We were greeted warmly by the woman at the front counter and given info about the current exhibit. Many interesting art pieces on display. We look forward to going back for the next exhibit!

Great displays, staff was helpful when asked questions. Some of thw exhibition I had seen in books. Seeing them in person was amazing. Loved it

The Orange County Community Housing Corporation is great! I've worked with the non-profit institution for 4 years now and have seen positive results in the lives of families they've helped. OCCHC is the real deal and Orange County families reap the benefits.
