It’s highly dependent on the art at the time, but I can’t say I was blown away.
Total waste of taxpayers dollars. It’s more like a storage of ugly trash that no one would call “art” made by unknown self proclaimed “artists”.
For major museums this is quite small. Also I enjoyed the first exhibit that we walked into which had a lot of bright and vibrant art but after that I found much of it pretty forgettable.
Also fairly challenging to park there as it's downtown San Jose and there are a variety of parking places however some of them are kind of pricey. Ended up parking on a meter and stayed for less than 3 hours.
Shout out to the staff as my wife left a phone there and was able to retrieve it from the nice people there.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
Lovely museum. Just big enough to see in less than two hours. Well chosen exhibits. Makes one think....
My girlfriend and I had a really good time! It’s a bit of a small museum, but what is displayed is very good. We love the shopping exhibit and the candy store exhibit. I realize in the future people are going to read this and wonder what the hell I’m talking about but for now in January 2024 it’s a cool exhibit. Lots of cool stuff.
I really enjoyed my visit. My wife and I walked around the museum. The low point was downstairs, thought the learning center could use more to get it more engagement. The high points were everything else. For a Friday afternoon, it was poppin'. The gift store was nice and reasonably priced. Upstairs had nice pieces that hit close to home.
The San Jose Public Library Foundation is a wonderful, well led organization providing critically necessary support for our public library system and the programs that foster our community in an equitable manner. The sincere positive impact libraries provided by libraries could not be achieved without the meaningful support of this foundation. Thank you SJPLF!!
It was a dress rehearsal, but the play was very well performed. The play was well written, thought-provoking, and enjoyable. I had a memorable experience.
It's an intimate theater where all seats have a great view of the stage. Feels like you're right in the play with the performers.

SJS is a great venue. We’ve seen many exciting shows here!
I've only been to one production (kinky boots) but it was so incredibly amazing. Costumes, choreography, set design, actor talent was through the roof. It's a small place but they really pack a punch!! I would highly recommend going :))
Everyone MUST see Kinky Boots!
Best performance I have seen in a very long time!

Well to be fair when we went there 3 exhibitions were close and i have no idea how big or small they were! I will update this if we end up going again and i see an actual difference!

If you do the math u probably have more art at home than what was at display here, hell go to TJMax instead! The building itself is very beautiful so are the views of surrounding buildings from it! I give it 2 starts just for those views and that of the admissions people’s super nice and welcoming attitude! Otherwise man we were disappointed!
The place was super clean and well maintained and there were not that many people there too on a Sunday!
I’d only recommend going there during like a special exhibition u know about!

Cleanness: very clean
People: nice admissions guy, security folks not so much
Cost: 10$ adults, students get in free. With id
Value: well.. we were not happy!
Parking: plenty parking lots around the area I’d imagine a little tricky in weekdays!
SJPLF is an amazing organization that impacts so many San Joseans! Absolute life-changing programs: from early education to adult literacy to citizenship to workforce training… on TOP of supporting all the city’s amazing public library branches!
The Library Foundation transforms libraries; libraries transform lives!
The San Jose Public Library Foundation supports our fantastic public library system through fundraising and advocacy. I am grateful for their work to ensure our public libraries continue offering amazing educational programs in our community. Keep up the good work, San Jose Public Library Foundation and SJPL!
Amazing mission in support of library programs across San Jose. I love everything they do and SJPLF's commitment to community!
The San Jose Public Library Foundation makes a significant difference to the residents of San Jose. It works hard to equalize access to information for our citizens. They have provided hot spots, computers, classes to our residents who need acces to the information network. They support education by providing oaching, on line access to high school graduation and early childhood programs to prepare our youngest residents for school. These are just a few of the programs the support. It is easy to send them support via their website. Please visit their website to learn the depth of their support for the San Jose Public Library and please consider supporting them. Pat Wolfe
Tremendous little theatre!
I was privileged to see a great performance of Blithe Spirit. The cast were fantastic in a very well produced and funny show.
The venue is so friendly and welcoming, I can’t recommend it enough.
Very nice theater. Seats are quite comfortable and with good sight lines from all areas. The play happens virtually on top of you. I felt like I was part of the cast. On the other side, the staff is very helpful, has accurate information. They are fantastic before, during, and after the show. I will be be back very soon.
This was absolutely a
***** 5 STAR *****
Experience for me.
This is a very small museum at downtown San jose. Honestly, couldn't relate to the exhibit that was on display. But the museum is free to visit and the staff is very welcoming. Can combine the visit with the quilts and textiles museum next door.
Modern abstract art museum. don’t know ANYTHING about ART!! I really don’t.. But I do love looking at interesting pictures.
On the small side for a city museum but a pleasant space and helpful staff. Nice exhibits with no barriers so being up close and interacting was easy.
Great spot in downtown San Jose to take in art. Some of the art installations are thought provoking. Some art look deceptively simple, but the amount of work that went into making it so simple seems so effortless.
We had a great time here. It was Chinese New Year's weekend and was too much crowded. Also, there was a dragon dance show, which had a huge line. There is a small cafe inside. Prices are reasonable for all food items (not a lot of options available). It's a good place to bring young children and can spend approximately 2-3 hours here. Weekend entry is free to this museum. Lots of art collections here, attached pics. I will recommend visiting if you are nearby.
I am so sad that I moved to this area in 1999 and never heard of City Lights. It's not a slick, fancy venue but WOW do they deliver a first class performance! Great acoustics, perfectly tiered seating, affordable yet world class talent. Parking was a challenge - expect to park and walk a few blocks but it's totally worth it. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. I'll definitely be back and am already looking forward to the 22-23 season.
Very good SJ MFA students' exhibition when I was there. If you are tight for time, see the ICA and the Museum of Quilts and Textiles nearby and skip the mediocre SJ Museum of Art.

I had never heard of this theater company..... My bad! My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful day at The Stage today. A stellar performance of August, Osage County, lunch at the SOFA food court up the street and a very nice walk around the neighborhood. The Stage is, in my humble opinion, a perfect venue. Intimate, great acoustics, excellent lighting, seating is tiered so everyone has a great view of the play. Will definitely get on their mailing list.
Excellent shows in a beautiful intimate space. World-class plays produced with amazing local talent!! 👏👏👏👏👏
The exhibit was small but fun. It was good to see a photograph of the artist at work with actual pieces that were exhibited as well. The interactive room that allowed you to make a painting in the same style was fun too, although the results were rather low retaliation. The other exhibit was fun too. It is strange that they don't charge money.

Have gone to San Jose Stage for live theater for years. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The theater is small only a couple hundred seats and very intimate. You have a great view of the stage from just about ant seat in the theater. The performances are excellent and the stage is arranged in very creative ways for each production. Please support live local theater... San Jose Stage will not disappoint.
Great visit!!! The exhibit"Clusterfu*k 9" amazing...... All the featured artists......TALENTED
A cute little place with really friendly, helpful staff. The night I went, it was free and they served food and drinks (also free) so it was a great first time visit. There are two large rooms which had really cool art as well as a smaller exhibit room with more amazing art to be found. It is located close enough to be able to walk to other artsy places, but is slightly out of the way.

We did go and see Mamma Mia the musical and it was Great ! Little intimate, small and nice theater with a very talented cast. Let's support our local actors and actresses and appreciate all the talent they have!
This library is really nice place to sit and read. It is very easy to become a member of this library. It has a good collection of books.

Intimate seating and performances. I was very impressed and had a great time. Not a bad seat in the house.
Awesome tiny museum. Just right for a dose of contemporary art any time you're nearby. You can easily go through the whole place in one visit. They recently had an exhibit with works centered on digital surveillance and another with several artists employing printmaking techniques. Looking forward to seeing what they have at my next visit.

Went there while visiting the valley for a play and we quite impressed. The venue's seating was comfortable and all seat have a good view. The performance itself was also of very high quality. Will definitely look this up again next time I am in town for a nice evening out. Location is also quite convenient, just a few streets away from many bars and restaurants to hang out or have a meal after performance. Highly recommended.
Holds good amount of good art in such a small space

Saw a great production of Sweeney Todd here a couple of weekends ago. Fantastic direction and great use of a small space!

Very near the sofa district in San Jose so it was easy to grab dinner before the show. I thought that $15 was a little steep for their parking lot especially as there is a lot of nearby convenient street parking that is also an option. Also a surprisingly large women's restroom for such a small space. I was pleasantly surprised, though I didn't visit during intermission or after the show so not sure how crowded it might get.
Closes soon for public.

Went to see the Toxic Avenger here and it was brilliant. Great music and fantastic cast. It's a small theatre with good sloping between the rows so you can easily see over heads. As other's have said there aren't really any bad seats though I think the far left or right would be my last choice. Alcohol and limited range of chocolatey snacks ans nuts available.
