If possible to leave less than 1 star I would. Completely unprofessional staff that don’t answer the phone or texts when asked for clarity or guidance and then have the audacity to ask for something when they didn’t bother to respond to me. Multiple calls, emails, and texts trying to get ahold of someone with no answer. Their protocol and procedures on how they run are also completely outdated and do not serve the community. Terrible

I found a dog, a tiny dog, on the street late at night! I succumbed to my conscience and took it! I immediately called 911, they said they would return but they never did. Then I called again. They told me I should call 311. I called and they said they would come back but they never did. We sat in the car for hours. I'm a Soldier, I don't have a house, I don't have an apartment. I live in a room. There's nowhere I can hold it. I went to the police station, they told me to leave it on the street again, it's like a joke! So I bought him food and tied him in front of the Shelter, nicely and in a way that wouldn't hurt him. I looked for a police officer on the street and found him. I told them that I tied the dog in front of Shelter and there was nothing I could do. They said to me, you did what you had to do by working for hours. However, at the day afternoon I went to Shelter to check on him. The woman working at the Shelter, without even saying hello, told me things like I couldn't tie it to the Shelter's door, etc. It was like a joke. disrespectful woman. She tried very aggressively to talk to me. What she can does!! She could explain the situation, find out, and then say about the law or others. Cocky personality, A very disrespectful employee. By speaking like that. with this behavior She encourages people to abandon an animal when they find it on the street.

Visited the Harding Place Shelter on a busy day.
The lady at the front desk was awesome. She patiently explained their procedures and answered all my questions. I asked to see two dogs. I got to visit and evaluate both dogs one at a time in a visitation room for a good 20 minutes or so. Made my choice and was pleased to see that the shelter had given all the shots she needed except for 2 boosters I would need to do a week later. She also already had a nail trim and spay plus flea & tick treatment and her heartworm pill. She was reasonably clean (I did have to treat for ear mites). They have discounts on adoption fees and also offers really neat plan where you can foster the dog for 2 weeks to really make sure it will be a great addition to your home. They offer a foster mentor, training guidance and covered emergency vet care during foster care for severe illness.
Best run and best service I have recieved at a shelter in over 64 years of adopting animals.
They are over flowing and a wide assortment from little to big.
Please check there if you are looking for a new buddy.

I’ve been coming to this location for 10 years. But the last year or so has been different. The people working here are rude, unfriendly, and down right mean to you. I have volunteered at a few other shelters in the past, not this one. But in all of my years, I’ve never once told someone that was interacting with an animal, whether it be a cat or dog, that they cannot touch them through the cage. How else are they suppose to gauge an animals initial temperament before opting to sit in a room or go outside into an enclosed space to further assess a good fit? If this is the case, truly, why not make sure no one touches the animals and just put up a wall of pictures for them to select and then have a volunteer/worker go and get it for them?
A policy needs to be in place so that someone like me doesn’t have to wonder who is working, and if that person is going to police all interactions at random, but not for all. And do not come back with “ well the animal could bite you or think you have a treat in your hand”
Please, we as humans know when a dog or cat wants affection and if you see a dog ( in this instance, a 3 month old puppy! ) getting pets and aggressively licking the person interacting with them, it’s probably not a good call to tell that person, ( rudely ) to “ GET YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THERE “
I mean, if it were up to me, that workers demeanor itself should constitute immediate removal. Those dogs have been through enough, they don’t need the extra negativity. Especially a puppy without a sick tag or an out of surgery and recovering tag.
On another note, they tell you to sanitize your hands before going in the room with all the dogs. WHY would you tell someone to do that, if they weren’t going to be touching anything? It’s “ rules “ like this that have me baffled. And if you question it, they dismiss you. I’d like to say, that the gentleman in there with the hat and glasses and the poor attitude, needs to find something that makes him happy and stop impeding on others with good intentions.

I had searched everywhere it seemed for a kitty after losing my 18 yr old cat. A friend suggested Metro as there are so many pets needing homes. I didn't expect to find her, but there she was. Love at first sight. Metro had given her shots, run tests, flea treatment and microchip. She had already been spayed. 8 yrs old. Baklava. It was a great experience. The facility was well run and compassionate. I give them 5 stars. And my gratitude.

My husband and I have always adopted our pets from their. I will never go there again. We had just lost a pet and found a bulldog mix online. We submitted the application. We went into the facility to get info on him at their request. We were told we were first in line for adoption and one application behind us. We got home home and received a message that there were 2 in front of us. Let me also say this dog was in a foster home approved by the facility. I called when I found out wanting answers but pretty much got none. A few minutes later the foster family messaged my husband saying they wanted to set up a meet and greet. He asked when and they literally never responded back. Next day I texted them myself and they blew me off and said they had over 20 applications for this dog and to call the shelter. They weren't even nice about it. They have a HORRIBLE foster care system. They don't appear to communicate at all. I did get a call back from a staff member who was very sweet but had no authority to do anything. She said she would give feedback to the person in charge of the foster program and I requested a call back from them. No one ever called. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone if you don't want to be screwed around and have your emotions played with.

These animals need love and help, and a home if you can. The workers here care so much and do wonders with so little space and money. They are usually full or close to it and would love for you to come adopt a cat or dog. If you can't though, you can always come take a pup out on a play date! It's a win win in that you get to spend some quality time with a dog and they get to have a great day with people outside the shelter! Prices are minimal for adoption and they take care of everything! No reason to spend hundreds on a rescue when you can find the furry friend you have wanted here! Included pics are my 2 Metro rescues -Honey and Sasha!

Exelente lugar, te sientes seguro de que la justicia universal, nunca te faltará en este sagrado lugar.

This was my First time visiting. It is slightly hidden off of Harding. I had to actually turn around since I missed the sign for it. I was pleasantly surprised at my visit. I was greeted and needed to sign my name on their log book before looking. I wanted to look specifically at their cats and found one that I considered adopting. I completed the paperwork, was accepted and then permitted to visit with the cat while a worker stayed with me in a small private room. The cat was very sweet just sadly older and hadn’t been exposed to being held or played with. Two things I enjoy doing with my Fur babies. I declined him and then told the workers how our visit was. (He would be ideal as a one family pet.) They were limited on other options but said that they get cats daily and often they are filled with them. I learned that ironically the cats are Free on Thursdays, the day I visited. Otherwise, $40. Saturdays they are super busy and so if can weekdays are best. The Staff in the Cat Room were very friendly and helpful! I did witness one girl kitty getting adopted while I was there. I would encourage you to stop in and see for yourself if you are considering adopting or wanting to drop off donations!

I just don't like the government so ye, lmaoooo

A joke! Judge McClendon is not a fair person! I don't know why she is a judge in the first place! Waited several months for a hearing for her to dismiss a rear end car accident case! Just a joke! Davidson county judges are just jokes and are the WORST!!!! Please step down!!!
