PT.1) - I worked at the Raritan Valley YMCA for 3 years , wether it was preschool, after school, vacation camp and especially summer camp, i was always there for them whenever they needed it. I worked at the Y for two reasons , the connections i made with my co workers and the connections i made with the kids I looked out for. There was one problem I had with the Y and it was fairly simple, Management and Direction of this facility is absolutely horrendous and needs DIRE assistance. I voiced my opinion on this last summer for the first and last time, this was because the main Director of the building, Gina Stravic, had been allowing unknown, non-members with nothing but a state id to freely use the locker rooms, showers, and gym. This didn’t bother me at all until a pair of my shoes was missing out of my locker and so was one of my coworkers phones ! I, later on in the week, end up seeing someone walking into the locker room wearing my shoes. I had recommended to the Director of the building that we install a camera or two because at the end of the day we are a child care facility with 0 security, 0 security systems and let alone not a single camera. I work with technology hardware as well, so i even offered to buy and install a camera myself AND show the director how it works ! I was lashed out on in an extremely unprofessional and rude manner by the director in front of my co workers and in front of members of the YMCA who pay for their children to attend. The director saw no problem with this and neither did either of the other assistant directors. I found the way she handled that situation in front of our peers absolutely disgusting. For the rest of the summer she immaturely avoided me and when the next summer came around, she made the other 2 directors avoid my phone calls and text messages and eventually closer to the summer camp season, tell me i’m not allowed to come back because the the head director said so. I only voiced my opinion on that one topic to the director herself but there were countless flaws that i would have loved to voice to her, so i’ll just voice a few of them on a separate review.
My son was enrolled in childcare here. I don’t recommend this facility because they’re no set teachers, there are always new teachers around your child who never properly introduce themselves. The majority of the staff are either minors or college age students who were placed there for their internships. My child was outcasted multiple times. He came home with scratches on his face multiple times and when I would ask what happened none of the teachers could tell me but when my child would hit someone they were quick to email me about that. They do not monitor the children closely enough. I was told that my son “snuck” off to the baby area. Why is a toddler able to sneak off anywhere when there should be eyes on all children in the classroom at all times? Although it is legal to have infants and toddlers in the same classroom it is honestly unsafe especially when teachers are not doing their diligence. The big teacher Brittany is extremely rude and lazy, she will watch you knock on the door at arrival and just stare until someone else gets up to open the door. I could write an essay of all the negative events I have encountered while my child was enrolled here. While the Y may be right for your family it was not a fit for mine. My son has been attending a new daycare for about a year and has progressed in all academic areas vastly, his social skills have developed significantly and the things that the teachers at the YMCA claimed my child was doing has even been a factor nor discussion at his current daycare. Save yourself the time and frustration from dealing with these unprofessional people.
My daughter attended for 3 days. Day one she walked in and was happy. I pick her up after 8 hours and she was barely feed. Day 2 she didn't want to be there. Picked her up and she was not feed again and her lip was dry from dyhdration. This time she got a cold. Day 3 same thing. I went and saw she was place at the door to sleep. It's 32 degrees outside. When you open the door the cold air hitting her face. She did not eat or drink again for the entire day. I stayed up with her most of the night because her temperature was 102 and she could hardly breathe her nose was so stuffy. They charged $314 a week for her to be abandoned and treated like this is beyond sickening and terrible.
I was told by the assistant director that the person that was supposed to feed her got distracted and forgot to feed her. There are alot of children in the room and they can't focus alot on one child.
When you enter the toddler room everyone walk in with their shoes on from outside. It's the most unsanitary thing to do. Anyone can pick up your child, there is no sign in and out sheet.
When I went to pick up my daughter I was ask if I was there for the new kid.
You want your child safe, well taken care of and feed this is not the place.
Happy to be back in a fitness and wellness space that is welcoming with a "meet users where they are" health centered philosophy.
After coming from a daycare where my 3 year old would scream and cry on the way to every morning… my daughter now is so excited for “school” every morning! She is fully potty trained after only 2 full months in the program and she has even made friends that greet her in the morning and say goodbye every day when she leaves! I am so happy with this daycare and it’s so relieving to see my daughter be happy to go to school while I work! Thank you too all of the YMCA staff!!!
I put my daughters in the summer camp program this year and was so pleased with every aspect of the program. The program was safe and clean and the group of directors and counselors handled opening a summer camp during COVID with flawless execution. I could not have been more happy! My kids will be coming back next year. They had great content during the day and their swimming program was excellent! My kids came home every day loving their camp experience. Thank you to Brenda and the entire team for an awesome summer!

The staff here at Raritan valley YMCA is the best I’ve seen. They are so friendly and are always there to help you with whatever you may need. The youth program there is great. After a long day at work, they make it fun to go to the gym!

I go here to the gym to weight-lift and I love it here! They offer a wide variety of group exercise classes that are fun and exclusive. They have fun programs throughout the year like the fitness challenge over the summer as well. The equipment is great and the fitness community is so welcoming and nice. I would recommend this to anybody who is looking for a good gym to go to :)
