Big auditorium, many programs were conducted here which are related to shrine basilica. Large area.
Beautiful, calm place. People of all faiths come here as one. We can sit for hours and pray, meditate. Peace of mind and prayers answered.
Of course, due to its importance, it's also become touristy, with lots of shops and vendors... but mostly at beach side and at bus stand...
So, as in any tourist place, 'Buyers Beware'.
And as it's a religious site, all kinds of people come. Some come for cheating others. So, if anyone approaches with sad story for help, please use common sense and don't blame God. Be safe.

A major shrine of South India. Watch about 1 to 2 million people from all over the world gather at the shrine on 29th Aug, every year. Be there to witness the flag soaring high which marks the beginning of novena in honour of Our Lady's birthday on 08 Sep.
This sacred place has vendors or sellers who cheats public on water bottle. Rs.5 forevery water bottle that is purchased. How pathetic the local authorities are supported for this.
It's nice holly place full of churches, theres been a 6 church's in there including old church, morning star church, main church etc. Aug 29 to sep 8 is velankanni festival time, that time velankanni will be fully crowded.
This is a great holy place where people are blessed by mother Mary. also well serene and blessed atmosphere everywhere.
