This place is so surreal, amazing and rich with history
Clean, well kept up by Friends of Fort Washington Park. It has a number of permanent toilet facilities. A tall observation tower for bird watching and hawk counting during migration. Many hiking trails. It is a carry in carry out park.
Came here for sledding the day after a decent snow and had a blast!
First hill closest to the bird overlook was great but also crowded, icy, bumpy, and a little muddy from so much traffic. Steepness of the hill meant you had no trouble getting down and actually went pretty fast.
Second was not nearly as steep but more fresh powder and significantlyless crowded.. because there had been less traffic here the snow was not very compact and it became a challenge to see if we could make it the whole way from the top to the bottom.. it took some experimenting but we did it!
Had a great time and glad we came here!
Plenty of parking, public restrooms were open, roads reasonably clear.
Great place to run with the kids

Great dog park. Separate small and large dog areas. Water, shade, real grass and artificial grass areas. Ample seating. 🤗🐕🐶
Nice hike on varying surfaces. You can choose to stay on fairly level trails or plunge into the woods. The Wissahickon offer babbling water and a cooler area even on a densely hot day. Other areas of the park have pavilions and picnic areas but we were there to hike the trail today.
This park is located in a residential area. The play park has a soccer style field and a walking area. It also has 2 rows of parking but no restroom facility. It has a covered Pavillion area close to the playground with seating.

Had a nice, quiet time walking and sitting down at the park. I will be coming back.
Great neighborhood playground! Great for elementary kids It looks new and the kids had a great time here. Got to eat our lunch at one of the picnic tables here and there is even a basketball hoop here. The only down side is there is no bathroom here so just know that before hand. Besides that, a nice hidden neighborhood park that also has a nice trail that goes through and is connected with the neighborhood.

We would come here again with the kids. Will recommend to families with kids under 12 for the playground but all age for the basketball court.

Been available for years, certainly valuable to community and area.
I really liked the playground and I also liked the trails you can walk along. The only thing I would add is that at the top of the climbing rope structure is to add a slide so when people go up they can go down on the slide then to climb all the way back down.

Brought benches for this beautiful and peaceful environment.
Clean park. I only go to see the water and wildlife. Many people bring their Dogs there and the dogs love it.
We visited both the Flourtown and Militia Hill sections of the park on a fall weekend with our leashed dog. For Flourtown, we met a deer while strolling the short loop trail along a narrow section of the Wissahickon Creek. At Militia Hill, the Hawk Watching deck was very popular since migration season is winding down. If you head down the sledding hill, you reach a wide paved trail that overlooks the Wissahickon. There are full restrooms, picnic tables and multiple parking areas. This is a historic area where General Washington built a temporary fort, before heading to Valley Forge. There a few ruins and historic Clifton house, which sometimes is open to the public.
Went on a group camping trip here at the beginning of June we only stayed one night but still had such a blast 🤠 The camping is up a private road I'm not sure how many group camping spots we're at the first one ans I didn't walk up to see the others. Down the hill are the bathrooms hawk lookout and parking lot down the hill from the hawk lookout there are a couple different trails and if you continue to the bottom of the hill it takes you right to the river. There are so many different and fun things to do we had a great time it's a great place for a day trip or overnight I definitely recommend checking out this state park some time this summer
4 stars. Such a beautiful and some what clean park however my dog stepped upon some glass in the high grass and cut his front paw. It almost spoiled our celebration to welcome our new puppy to our friends and family.
This is a great park for a wide age range of kids - young toddlers to older elementary school aged kids at least. There's some shade, a picnic shelter, grills, trash cans and recycling bins, a basketball court, and of course a great new playground. The playground is great for really little kids, even small toddlers, and there's several benches looking out at the playground. It's one of our favorite parks in Fort Washington and my toddlers and little kids request to go here and the Tantallon North playground most of the time. It's also a convenient place to park to bike up and down the Henson Creek Trail or just take a walk. My kids love taking a nice walk after some fun on the playground.
Cute little spot. Clean, picnic tables under a little mini pavilion. I can't remember if it has a grill pit, but I think so. Has a nice sized basketball court. The playground equipment is current, sturdy, well-built. The Henson Creek walk/bike trail runs through this park. Therefore, I'd be careful sending your kids to the park alone. Overall a great community park.
Normally a great playground. There’s a connected basketball court, and several men playing on the court were smoking weed, drinking liquor and cursing. Do what you do but this is a space for children, and any space for children should be respected. Hoping this is a one-time thing and not indicative of things to come.

Excellent quiet and clean park. I took my grandkids here and they enjoyed themselves thoroughly. There was so much for them to do and play on at the park.
This was a pretty awesome neighborhood park! The park has a fun twist to the playground equipment. I love that it has a rubber surface! They have a covered picnic area. They also have a couple other picnic tables around the park. That are not covered. Has a basketball court. There's also a walking trail that goes through the park.
Nice neighborhood park... connecting trails too!
first time visiting this place.
they have great trail along the river, if lucky we can see mallard duck along the river. great view under the bridge, they have alot of bird feeder nearby the parking lot, so you can enjoy watching birds eating. they also have clean restroom.
It was good

We had a whole family reunion here, it was amazing!! You can see the kids no matter how far they run around.
The playground is brand new and gets 5 stars. It's easy to get to with a trail leading right up to it from the sidewalks in the neighborhood. There's a picnic shelter with 4 picnic tables and two grills which was a welcome sight in the heat of the summer. There are two playgrounds - one for toddlers (ages 2-5 per the sign) and another one for older kids but older or active toddlers still use it just fine. They have swings for all ages too. There's a very cool "nature sounds" feature on the toddler playground that I've never seen before. You spin a wheel and a quality recording of various animals play, so be sure to check that out no matter your age!

There's also plenty of parking so this would be a great park for a game or get together. There are huge fields including a soccer field and a path that goes around it so it could also be good for walking or running. If you're in the general area its a great quiet place to stop off to.
Great place to go for a jog and there's a lovely park nearby with a bunch of bamboo and a playground for kiddos.
Nice playground area for young children. Two areas to gather and grill. One is covered. Basketball court is nice and appears to be maintained well.

My daughter love this place mainly the swing. Since some parks doesn’t have one. I wish they can put bathroom in their.
Fort Washington State Park is a multi-sectional park connected by county park lands allowing for the continuous hiking of the Green Ribbon Preserve Trail. You'll also see signs saying the Wissahickon Trail as it follows the Wissahickon Creek. The park combines recreational activities with areas of historical significance.
The Fort Hill section is across from the park office. While the fort is gone, a section of field is surrounded by cut and stacked trees suggesting a typical defense for the troops.
Also near the office is the Clifton House which was built in 1801. It is now a library and museum run by the Fort Washington Historical Society. On the way to the main park, you'll find Mather's Mill built in 1820. This is currently under private ownership.
The Militia Mill area is the largest and most varied. Walking and picnicking are the major activities, but many visitors come for the hawk watch decks especially in September and October.
Picnic tables are plentiful and scattered around the play areas and ballfields. There are two pavilions here for larger groups.
The park has a large number of dogwoods. I've included of picture of some by the volleyball court.
The disc golf course appears well designed and challenging.
There is a camping area but only for groups.
Fishing the Wissahickon can get you trout in spring but only warm water fish as you get into summer.
In winter you can cross country ski and sled.
The Flourtown Area features a ballfield with lots of picnic tables and a volleyball court, but currently the net is missing.
Behind the ballfield you'll see a sign indicating a wetland project is under way (see picture). Behind the volleyball court is a group pavilion. Keep in mind this is a long distance from the parking lot to have to carry supplies.
