This is a pocket park at a busy intersection with a few benches, zero trails, playgrounds, or other amenities. The review that mentioned a butterfly garden has the wrong park.

Such a wonderful local place to enjoy. These are three simple pictures that were actually meant to capture the awesome view of all the yellow flowers we had encountered in particular that day, but it gives a slight peek into the beauty of the reserve/park overall. Our favorite trek is going around the lake utilizing the trails in and out of the woods as we weave closer and further to the water. It appears that folks may be able to fish in the lake, but we go for the great walks. Depending on which way you go, you can spend five minutes on the trail or well over an hour. That's a really nice aspect is being able to choose how involved I want to be at a given moment for a walk. We also enjoy going up onto the paved walkway above the dam that offers incredible views of the surrounding area and wildlife. There are always birds soaring, critters running about and even turtles basking along the banks and on logs in the water. I'll edit at some point and add more pictures especially of the dam, but again there's always a different route to take and we as of yet haven't made it all the way around the lake, but one day....you have to check this place out and take advantage of what this park has to offer.

The bones of her are gorgeous and I don't know of a better view of the Dayton skyline, however the park seems to constantly be vandalized. The binoculars have even been "removed" that were on the observation deck...

Was a fantastic spot for the eclipse!

This park....
Filled with so many awesome times. That park just gets better abs better. Was bummed out when they had to remove the "pool" And back in the day there were 2 lifeguards on duty for a kitty pool. Toddlers could stand in it and the water only would come to their knees. But the pool emptied when the free lunch truck pulled all the way to the shelter.

Nice park, but the bathrooms are always locked up. Idk how they expect anyone to enjoy the park for very long without a place to potty. I guess they want everyone to go on a tree or bush.
Nice place, it'd be nice of they clean up the pond though

Great Metro Park. Mad River goes through the park and there is also the lake. The trails are in decent condition and the views from the top of the dam are scenic.

Found this local park to take our son to get some play time in. Sad that people would destroy a kids playground like this. Unfortunately, the place was pretty sketchy, graffitied, and dilapidated.

Nice large city park. Splash pad is nice, with only a couple features not working. Unfortunately the bathrooms are sealed. Lots of green space, a neat overlook with binoculars that work (though the glass on the eyepieces are cracked). The playground equipment is in pretty good shape, But there is one broken chain on a chain net ladder, and a very cracked plastic slide on one side of the side by side medium slide. Nice swings and toddler swings. Small picnic pavilion with a charcoal grill, but I didn't get a good look at the grill to see if it was in useable order. Well used basketball court. Several badminton nets, and other sports fields.

Plenty of shade, add benches with trash cans. Other than that nothing of note.

while it was shady and convenient the grounds were a bit unkept and in need of updating for improved safety with a much needed scrubbing thanks to vandalism ... however - my 4 yo and 7 yo had a fine time with neighbor kids that joined them to play for a bit

Great little lake for fishing and kayaking. Lots of open space for hanging out, playing with your dog or kids. No building for restrooms, but it is the outdoors, so go as you see fit.

It's a quiet park. Usually never anyone there and plenty of things for my kids to play on. Pretty clean as well. I usually never see any trash or anything in the playground area. The only thing I don't like is there's no bench for parents or anyone to sit on while not playing or chasing after their kids.
Close to the house... Beautiful view of the Dayton skyline.. splash pad in the summer

Horrible. Trash is EVERYWHERE YOU WALK. Not to mention that there is always drug addicts lingering close by. Almost every piece of equipment or slide is broken. Needles on the ground. Do not send your kids here ! Especially not alone.

The Walnut Hills Neighborhood Association has done and continues to do a ton of work to make this a beautiful and fun park to hang out at. Lots of green space, gorgeous, mature trees. Cool park.

Cute little Park nice little area quiet just people need to pick up their trash..maybe place some trash cans around some of the equipment needs to be repaired but other than that it's somewhere to go
Has sports complex features in the front of the park. Follow the park road to the back of the park and you will find a natural wooded area with moderate to hard elevations. one of the main trails is blacktopped and you can follow that around and do the health fitness sections to improve the body and mind.

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. The only thing going against it is the noise from the traffic but that's easy to block out, like white noise. Otherwise this could easily become a favorite spot for me.

I arrived at dusk so I wasn't able to walk the whole trail but what I did was very easy to follow. Lots of wildlife. Lovely area!

Always love taking my kids here. Sometimes there are some not so well behaved kids running amok but they aren't so tough, just give them a little chop to the neck when nobody's looking and continue enjoying yourself with your well behaved kids.

Nothing big and fancy for sure. Just a neighborhood park with a pieces of equipment. Looked like it was vandalized a bit by the older neighborhood kids but nothing broken. Not a go out of your way place but if you're around and looking to blow off some energy this isn't a bad spot at all.

My favorite part is the lower parking lot all the way down and take a lovely walk between 2 ancient grandmother trees across a sometimes exposed beach and come out to a little point where the river and the reservoir meet. Tons of picnic areas one with an amazing overlook down to the river. Lovely place to walk and I noticed many people enjoying kayaking and biking there as well.

Love this park .. we have went here for years .. great place to walk around and relax in nature. Theres hiking trails and a butterfly house .. butterflies do best in 80 degree or warmer weather. Lots of flowers, birds, butterflies Nice lakes with large orange or white carpe. There are often ducks and geese but I think they try to discourage that with a working dog that chases them off.

Great park, a little secluded, u might pass it up if u didn't know it was there. Has all the amenities to have a good time. Wide open areas to play sports, picnic areas and tables, walking paths, areas for kids. If you're a nature freak, u can explore the wooded areas and there's even a small stream to cool your feet in. Even the grounds people are friendly and talkative if u happen to see them. Overall, a nice little park, but not super busy, nestled in what is primarily considered city.

Even though it's small and doesn't have too many trails, it's a nice quiet place that is a haven for a short walk or just to sit and contemplate. The fun part is exploring where there aren't really trails. :)

There's nothing to share about Patterson park other than the association of Patterson park need stop trying to fix a band aid which in return it's getting worse then better and just put park back into the cities hands and close the book for good because it's not going to get any better
Over run with drugs n trash! City of Dayton does nothing, they would rather harrass legal drivers with insurance than catch drug dealers selling heroin at the park were kids play.

It's a nice small Park most people don't even know it's there and it's right at the intersection and Shroyer and Patterson Road
