Wonderful place for dogs to enjoy within the City of Calgary.
Nice open area for dogs to run and play and for the hoomans to walk around. The only area of concern was along the side with the road; my dog has good recall but we didn't even attempt that side because of the traffic. Great views of the city and river as well.
Unfortunately it's not completely fenced. It's mostly fenced but there are several entrances without gates. Nice and close to the river. Has parking.
Fantastic Park for dog walking, running & cycling. One can easily access the River & Reservoir trails/pathways from here.
Fenced off dog park but there are several openings on the back side. Dogs should have a basic recall before going to this park. Nice wooded areas for dogs to sniff around in. Great for scent training.
We LOVE this community dog park. All the community folks & dogs come together, almost daily. It is well cared for and loved. My dogs love the freedom of running, playing & catching. Some neighbours leave water bowls out for the pups. The neighbours are so friendly.
It has large open area to throw the ball. It is not fully enclosed, so an untrained dog could get loose if off-leaah.
This off-leash park is incredibly roomy and has so much space for the puppers to roam free. It's absolutely fantastic!
A peaceful park nestled in the heart of the city. It's great for people to take a stroll and perfect for walking with dogs. Plus, there's an Off-leash Dog Park with fences inside. Behind that, there's a river; it's truly a lovely spot. Let's go for a walk!
Beautiful area but no fence between the off leash area and Sarcee! My dog was hit by a car. Thankfully she survived, but I don’t think we’ll be back…
Seems like no one really picks up after their dog here.
I love this park as a place I can quickly go to and get my dog a good run at. There are dogs of all sizes but my medium sized shepherd-husky loves the fact that there are many other similar sized dogs to play with. It's basic but good.
A wonderful park for walking dogs and in general. There are places to relax with your family, you can have a barbecue, a beautiful view of downtown, especially at sunrise or sunset.
Hesitating on my review. I love the walk and it’s a really long, but narrow, green space but is also shared with pedestrians and cyclists. Unless your dog has a good recall, I would suggest keeping them on leash. As well not all people walking their dogs through there do not want to be bothered
I take my dog here every day and have been for the past 5 years! I honestly love the area, you have a mix of field, river, and a great pathway
Great little neighborhood offleash park, fenced in and safe for pups to romp and play. One of the near by residents is awesome and leaves bowls and water containers, refilled daily during the warm months so pups have water supply if owners forget to bring with them or are just making a quick stop. Always full of well behaved, playful pups and friendly pet people.
One of my favorite views points of any off leash park I have visited. I particularly liked the large space so I could let my dog roam free without worrying about a busy road nearby... Treat your pet to something new and take them here I strongly recommend it.
Love it, a good play and a wide run for the dogs.
Views for days.

There are so many benches to sit and take in the sun setting on downtown while your K9 runs about.
The autumn colours are just stunning.

There're smaller paths through scrub, open fields and a good chunk of land to just explore with your pups.

There are places to ditch poo bags at the parking lots and you can throw some leashes on to walk down to the river and then get your dogs washed off if they get all gross.

Parking at the South Edworthy Parking Lot, the one down the winding road, gives you a hill to start up with the dogs on leash and then you finish the same way with easy water access to a drink or wash up for the dogs, as well as bins to put poo bags in.

All that being said, it's not fenced in and the actual borders of the park are super ambiguous. You start at a sign saying you're in the dog park and then you can wind up somewhere that never indicates you've left the park, but it's obvious at that point that you have.
It's a great space filled with good dogs and sensible owners. It isn't fenced in so make sure your dog isn't the type to run into the street, though there is lots of space to keep them occupied. Puppy water fountain just reopened!
Beautiful park, I have never been to a dog park that size! Really great walk. There is a lot of trails to take, some require the dog to be leashed. We enjoyed our time at this park. My dog will sleep well tonight that’s for sure
Cute little off leash dog park with a foresty treed area adjacent to a large, open field area that encourages running around and pup play. If your dog likes rolling and wiggling around in the dirt like mine, a post-walk bath is imminent. Exquisite views of the city.
This dog park is one of the best for just strolling around. it's got great views, lots of people/dogs, a water fountain (for dogs and for people) and easy access to the river down the hill. I go here almost every day with my doggy.
Went here for the first time recently when I was dog sitting as I was under the impression that it is fully fenced and I was not entirely confident about the dogs’ recall. As it turns out, it’s only fenced on three sides but it didn’t matter as the dogs were great.

Note that, despite the address, access is by turning onto 41st ave from 37 st SW and then turning right into the alley. There is no gate and no parking allowed on 37 st SW.

When I was there, the grass was cut very short and was very dry. There’s a picnic table that should be moved under a tree as it can be quite hot there.

As others have noted, not everyone picks up after their dog - there are places where dogs go that are out of sight such as between the bushes and the fence that are particularly bad for this. Having said that, I could only locate one garbage can and it was in the far NW corner of the park, which meant a lot of walking to make a deposit.

A drinking fountain for the dogs would be a nice addition.
Love the fact that it's fenced all over the park. It feels safer for the dog to run around the park without getting on the street
I love Owing here to be one with nature.
Meet new people as they pass by
Great little neighbourhood offleash park. It's real just a big open field but it's fenced in, has a small wooded area, and is very safe for pups to play. It's kept pretty clean, and a lovely local lady leaves jeerycans full of water and water bowls on site for the pups during the warm months AND she refills them every day so there's always water for those who forgot to bring some for their pups. She also ties plastic bags to the fence every few feet so ppl have no excuse to not pick up after their pets... She's a little dog community angel 😇
One of the best dog parks in the winter time. Well lit. There is a children's playground right next to the park. It's a good park to throw a ball or frisbee. It's not hard to find some space in the middle. In the warmer months there are more scenic options nearby, such as Edworthy Park or River Park. Regardless, it is a decent place to take your dog for a walk. Three laps takes about twenty minutes. There are benches around the circuit, but no picnic tables.
Fenced in dog park there for those who need it, for those who don't, welcome to the river park! Big spot to swim and let the zoomies out, lots of good friends but can get jamming packed on hot days, so approach on foot is always best as it's not uncommon to see human chains formed around empty spots saving them for friends or family.
This is probably my favourite dog park in the city. It’s close enough to my house, we have friendly encounters with other dogs, alot of the dog owners are very attentive. There are a few routes to take and you can even go down to Sandy Beach and hang out at the river. It’s great for early morning dog walks and never feels busy since there’s so much space. The view of the city from this park is the cherry on top. Be careful on the side near the road if your dog isn’t great with the invisible barrier beside streets since it is not fenced in.
Perfect little dog park, great regulars, solid fence blocking road. Great room for frisbee and lots of running.
The different terrain of the park leads to an interesting walk for my dogs. The treed area has multiple paths. The long paths with open area offers running space. And the view on the North side is wonderful.
The accumulated ice on the path can be challenging, particularly on the South entrance up the hill. However, this is a seasonal occurrence at all parks. If you bring cleats during the melt/freeze cycle the paths are safer to navigate.
Used by many but never seems to have more than a few dogs at a time.

No lights so on dark night, not where I want to be
I love this park! Really friendly people and dogs, clean, and someone usually brings water for the bowls that are there. Our new go-to that somehow seems undiscovered and quiet considering it’s on 37th St.
This is a great dog park. Large space with varied terrain. It's easy to have your dog socialize with others or to find a little space to yourself. Also has a great view of the city.
This is an awesome area close to home, and has plenty of open areas for dogs to play, with enough shade for them to keep cool. There are also super cool people in the area who leave chairs and empty water bowls for visitors. I love this place.
Was very please with the off leash area and everyone I would walk by were super friendly :)

Nice dog park. Noisy from the major road.
Great trail connector
Ample room for the dogs to run, but due to location, not so scenic
Nice wide space, has a walking bridge to Tuscany, and the traffic on Stoney is very quiet because of the berm.

Open spaces, clusters if trees with trails, a great slope side trail option. Spectacular view of downtown and the valley below! Can continue walk at end of off leash park down trails to the Bow River and explore the trail system there. One of the best in Calgary!

Beautiful community off leash dog park that is in the heart of the city. Has a nice wooded area to get some shade and the Elbow river is close by for a puppy swim! It's also beautiful blanketed in snow!
This place is Awesome! Wide open area! Hike paths in the grassy areas .. there is a Forest like area by the Playground.. creepy area if you want to test your fears.. has a "kid fort" in it. The people there are very nice :)
Too many uncontrolled dogs off leash. Runners and cyclists with dogs off leash. Obviously not picking up fences. Sad. It could be do good for everyone.
Good sized fenced in dog park that is mainly fenced but it does have about 3 openings without gates but 2 double gated fenced areas.
1 gated entrance off the parking lot the other is a little south along the bike path. There are openings along north/ south and east side of the park. Lots of big holes so watch your step.

It's mainly compacted dirt and some bushes/ tall grass. A stroller would be fine in this park. This park is across the elbow river from River park. The one down low. Sandy beach is the park on the same side of the river as Riverpark but down low.

You can access the park from the parking lot off Riverdale main road. There are 2-3 benches within the park itself to sit and garbage cans in the parking lot or along the path outside of the gated area.

It's a great park for fetch for big dogs. Lots of space to run.

While technically not off leash but widely used as an off leash area is the paths leading to the elbow to the west of the fenced in park. You will find approx 3-4 paths that lead to the rocky shore where you will see dogs swimming in the water. This is not good for strollers and depending on the time of year can be flooded out.
Really beautiful off leash dog park . There are hidden streams throughout the park so the dogs have access to water during the hot summer seasons. Every park has its challenges with owners picking up after their dogs and edworthy is no different . There are obvious issues with this right from the get go, but most people I see that frequent the park pick up after their dogs. The park is so massive it allows you to pretty much go for a beautiful hike without running into anyone . There are lots of trails and very nice change to the typical field full of owners and chuck it’s throwing ball after ball.
Great place to walk the dog off leash, except for the cyclists who dont care and think they have the right to ignore off leash area signs.
Great off leash dog park in a ravine. The Google map instructions to get to park are terrible. There are two better entrances. One off of Edgewood Drive and other off of Edgewood Rise (this one is harder to find. It's in between the townhouses and the first detached house on the north side).
Good medium sized park, partly fenced. Enough room for dogs to leave each other alone. One of the things I like about this park is that there is a playground on the cul de sac, close enough that a young family can walk the dog and entertain kids.
Good location for me. Linear and along a busy road. Will do in a pinch. There are 2 or 3 bins for pooh.
Nice, open and mostly friendly except for the cyclists who dont have bells to warn you that they are coming from behind you. Be careful to keep your dog from going too close to the road, Sarcee Trail , there isn't a fence to prevent them from running into traffic
Nice place for friendly dogs to run, chase a ball, frisbee etc. Trees throughout the park and shrubs along the borders. Fenced in on 3 sides including along 37st. (Busy road) but the alley has only post and wire fence. You need to wach your dog(s) do not stray into the alleyway on that side of the park. We walk our dogs there most days, year round, great exercise for them and us.
Clean, safe, and friendly for bigs and smalls. Just keep an eye on your pooch at the top of the ridge where it backs onto an alley and is not fenced in.
