My partner and I were really disappointed with our experience today. First off, the menu was underwhelming. The cost is over $300 and we made chicken and rice… I expected a more elevated menu for the price. I could go to a high end tasting experience at a well rated restaurant in the area for the same price! Second, the experience itself lacked a certain level of preparedness (and food safety protocols). The instructor touched nearly everyone’s food and didn’t wash her hands enough (I saw a significant amount of dirt under her nails which made me a bit queasy after she touched my personal dish), she didn’t wear gloves when handling raw chicken, and there was almost no prep work done ahead of the class. She didn’t even ask the class to wash their hands at the start which to me feels like a given when starting a class like this! For a four hour class, I’d say we spent two thirds of it just watching the instructor wash vegetables, measure ingredients, clean dishes, etc. I expected more for the money and unfortunately, I would not recommend this class nor would I do another one myself.
We recieved a gift certificate as a gift and headed off for a wonderful class with Chef Jane!
We had a blast in the kitchen - learned some "tricks", were introduced to new equipment. The dishes we prepare were fun and delicious. The other people in the class were great.
The day ended off with a meal - what we cooked ourselves AND some wonderful wine pairings.
We definitely plan on going back again.
The Wine Country cooking school delivers a delightful three-hour hands-on experience, allowing participants to savor the joy of crafting their own meals. The perfect pairing with Strewn Winery's locally made wines enhances the overall gastronomic delight, creating a memorable and flavorful experience that beautifully blends culinary expertise with local wine charm. Cheers to a culinary adventure worth savoring!
We had a lovely experience. The food and wine were delicious, and Jane gave us lots of practical tips and techniques to use at home.
I’m a repeat student of Wine Country Cooking School.

Jane’s classes are so satisfying and well-run. Not only will you have the satisfaction of learning how to create a delicious three-course meal, you’ll also be able to savour your creations alongside excellent wine pairings from Strewn, the host winery that Jane and her husband own and where the school’s well-appointed facility is located.

The ever-changing menu is customized to the dietary needs and preferences of each group and uses fresh, easily acquired ingredients. If you want to gain confidence in the kitchen or are looking for a fun and interactive experience/ date idea, look no further!

This is our 3rd cooking session which says everything and they never disappoint. Jane ensures that every experience is unique and not a repeat of a session already attended. Session is well paced and total amount of time is just right. She and her team always make it fun, easy to follow and very helpful. At every session, we learn something new about cooking and prepping and the recipes are made with readily available ingredients and can be repeated at home including the desserts (you get to take the recipes home with you). She also supports her local suppliers and vendors while planning the menu to coincide with the season.
We also enjoy the wine pairing component to each meal course. The group size is perfect and affords you the opportunity to meet other chef enthusiasts. We will be returning!
We felt very welcome and had a wonderful time. The food was great, and there was an ability to customize somewhat within the preselected recipes. I somewhat thought it would involve cooking with wine, but it was cooking a meal and then wine pairing with the meal. Since the chef did not have an assistant, it did run overtime, as she was doing all the auxillary tasks herself. All in all, we had fun and learned a lot. I would consider coming back in the future.
Had a great time cooking with Jane and her staff. They all made it fun and effortless. The menu was well planned and delicious if I do say so myself! Her husband provides great wine pairings and many tips on how to pair wines. Great experience and looking forward to doing it again sometime in the future.
