May 09, 10:10PM departure: started loading at 10:15PM. No announcements to inform customers as how long the delay will be, and when should the drivers should get back to their cars; customer service none. The ferries are old, slow and inconvenient. They are always delayed and becoming more expensive every year. Please build a toll bridge. People are tired of delays, cancellations and high prices.

We are lucky to have such and easy trip to and from Nanaimo, BC.

Cost is reasonable, with a full service vessel taking around 2 hours if walking on/off.

Vehicles cost about $100 with 2 people give or take depending on the vehicle.

Very smooth ride, passengers must leave vehicles after boarding. The main decks have lots of seating and dining areas, food and drinks are available for purchase and there's a sun deck for open air enthusiasts. All Around a pleasant experience.

Horseshoe Bay is a quaint coastal area that has a slight Banff feel. Nice selection of local and franchise restaurants and shops along the pier. Choose a nice mild day, and you could fill hours just relaxing in the park.

We took a ferry from the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal on a couple of occasions when we visited Vancouver, and places on Vancouver Island, in June 2019. We quite enjoyed the trips on BC Ferries. The crossing across the Strait of Georgia to Nanaimo takes about 90 minutes, and there is beautiful scenery of the mountains and islands all around. On one occasion we had to wait over two hours in the car parking area, because we were late and had to wait for the next sailing on 'MV Queen of Oak Bay'. It is always better to book in advance if crossing with your car. It is less of a hassle if you are a foot passenger, then you can arrive about half an hour before departure.

To catch a ferry to Vancouver Island we had to be at the Horseshoe Bay Terminal in West Vancouver and buy our boarding tickets. We took a cab from North Vancouver and found that we were quite early as there was an hour to go for the ferry 'Coastal Renaissance' at around 1 pm. That gave us some time to explore the area around Horseshoe Bay.
The busy port is quite scenic. There are a large number of restaurants nearby. Since we did not have time for a sit-down lunch we bought some Veggie Subs from the Subway outlet in an adjoining lane nearby, and were happy to munch it on the ferry. It saved us some money and we did not have to wait in a long line which forms as soon as the ferry starts.
For people alighting from the ferries there is a bus stop just outside the terminal from where to catch the transit buses to Vancouver Downtown.

Enjoyed a lovely trip on board. The climate was changing in 30 minutes. Sunny, clear sky to cloudy, misty surroundings. In October 2004, from Vancouver to Nanaimo.

The food isn’t half bad and the views are to die for! It can be a little crowded and the line for the cafe gets long very fast. Great tip for first timers; the moment you park your car safely exit and head immediately to grab a seat or spot in the line to the cafe. Sit back and enjoy the views.

Toll!

Got through ticketing quickly. Loading and unloading ran smoothly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ferry itself was very clean, even the bathrooms toward the end of the trip. Kid's play area was a tad small, but also clean and my toddler loved it.

This terminal is just another terminal. The washrooms really could use a cleaning more often. It is nice that you can walk over to the village as you wait for your boarding to commence. There are lots of restaurants that are within walking distance should you get hungry. Just make sure you are back in time for the ferry. The WILL leave without you.

Finding the entrance was totally complicate. Also, you wanna watch out the speed bumps. They are enormous. The ferry is quiet a nice experience for us, but a bit pricey. You can walk around the deck or find a seat once park your car at parking area. There are some food vendors and arcade for your entertainment. Best of all is to go up the top deck for the oceanic views. The trip will be around one and half hours. It was a smooth ride. I'll try it again someday.

First time on the ferry and it was so easy and simple. We already had tickets so skipped the line got on with ease! The actual ferry is spacious, cozy and well laid out. Got some great shots from the deck despite the weather being a little drizzly. Looking forward to my next ferry ride!
