Nice and architectural building. 33 platforms actively using and more for other bulk trains. All indications and signs are clear and easy to find the way. All JR trains, shinkansen trains and subway trains are connected in one terminal.

Very peaceful and quiet in the morning but when the evening hits it super busy! This building's architectural design is unreal. It's so cool! Once you come out you can see a beautiful view of the Kyoto Tower.

Kyoto Station is unlike any train station I've ever encountered. It's not just a transportation hub; it's a bustling city within itself, brimming with amenities and attractions that make it an unforgettable experience.

First and foremost, the sheer size of Kyoto Station is awe-inspiring. It's a magnificent architectural marvel that stands as a testament to modern design and functionality. From the moment you enter, you're greeted with an air of grandeur and a sense of the immense scale of this transportation hub.

What truly sets Kyoto Station apart is its diverse range of amenities. It's not just a place to catch a train; it's a destination in its own right. The station houses a department store, a shopping mall, a hotel, and even a movie theatre. The variety of shops and dining options available ensure that you can easily spend hours exploring and indulging in retail therapy or savouring delicious meals.

One of the standout features of Kyoto Station is the breath-taking view from the top. As you ascend to the upper levels, you'll be treated to panoramic vistas of the surrounding cityscape. It's a view that captures the essence of Kyoto's blend of modernity and tradition, and it's a sight that left me in awe.

What makes this view even more mesmerising is the innovative use of LEDs on the stairs leading to the top. These LEDs create captivating animations that bring the stairs to life. You can witness animations of people walking, trains moving, and other enchanting visual effects. It's a unique and immersive experience that adds an extra layer of wonder to your visit.

In conclusion, Kyoto Station is more than just a transport hub; it's a multifaceted destination in its own right. Its grandeur, diverse amenities, and breath-taking views make it an attraction that shouldn't be missed when visiting Kyoto. The LED animations on the stairs are the cherry on top, turning an already remarkable experience into something truly unforgettable. Kyoto Station is a testament to the city's ability to seamlessly blend tradition and innovation, leaving visitors like me with lasting memories of an incredible journey.

This is a very nice and clean train station. There are a ton of restaurants, grocery stores and shopping centers. You can walk to the top of the station and see nice views of the city. Kyoto tower is located right outside the station and you can enter the tower through the Porta's inside the station. The food hall inside the Kyoto tower is a good time with music and lots of food stalls to choose from. Definitely either stop or travel to this station, you'll enjoy it.

Nice station!
There is a bus station outside the building and train station inside. There are many cafes, restaurants, cake shops. 7-eleven is also available.

It's always in crowded state, especially weekend. But not much different in weekday also. We could find many people from various countries here. In Kyoto area, the rule is usually "Stand right, Walk left", but here, it's strange since most people will use left side ("Stand left, Walk right") on the escalators and stairs. Just follow the majority for your convenience.

Nice building! Great environment!
There are clean toilets in every floors.
If you want to go around, there are some temples nearby, and to find/buy electronic things, Yodobashi is also reachable on foot.

First station in Japan I have navigation issues. Looks like too many things packed in one place, too many lines merged together, navigation signs simply can't cover all scenarios, if you need something not common, you're in trouble to find it easy. Station itself is beautiful with a lot of places to eat, rest and just take a photo.

Train stations in big cities just like Kyoto are insane 🤩 there is even worth visiting and getting lost. To see the crowd of people walking in their way and see how everything works just perfectly well.
If you aren't a local then come here in big advance cuz there is a big chance that you may miss your train. But don't worry there is a plenty of other connections. This is Japan😍
Thank you✌️
When visiting Kyoto, save some ample time to wander around the Kyoto Station.

The architecture is fascinating. You will also be able to see all the trains coming and going from the top view.

During the day, you will also be able to hear people playing the piano.
If you come by end of day,
You will also see a great sunset from the top view.

Kyoto station is unique compared to the rest of Eki (station) in Japan. The trains and buildings have a subtle tone is coloring, ranging from dull maroon to dull pink. The station is less crowded compared to Tokyo station, but there are many foreign tourists present all the time. There are many restaurants near the station and they offer authentic Kyoto style foods

Hyper busy spot in Kyoto at all times as it also includes a mall within. It's also an interesting architectural masterpiece. Don't miss out on the internal lattice structure (photoed here) and also the exterior (from Kyoto tower side) of the interesting glass windows that looks very Frank Gehry inspired.

The busy traffic is rather crazy and a great place for photography too.

Kyoto station is amazing. I didn't see anything about it when I was researching my trip to Kyoto but it's definitely worth a visit. It's an incredible building with an impressive skywalk that gives a great view of Kyoto Tower. And the massive LED staircase is also pretty cool.

Impressive train station and staff here are friendly and speak decent English.

🎫 Train tickets : Either u buy the tickets at the machine or ticketing office. There is a dedicated lane for foreign visitors

🍚 Restaurants : There are plenty of options available but I would strongly suggest avoiding peak hours... the long queue can keep your tummy angry 😁

🛅 Lockers : There are plenty of lockers if need to move around without carrying the heavy load. Cost between 300 to 700yen per unit

🚕 Taxi and bus : Check the location you are heading to taxi or bus stand, it can be complicated

Have a good time in Kyoto, it is always a pleasure to be there ☺️👍
