After 5 years+ my wife and I are still very happy we moved to AMV. So many friendly, interesting people.
So much to learn and do.
I am certain if someone looks thoroughly into AMV, they will choose to move to here!

My wife and I are very pleased with our move to Asbury in May 2024. Our apartment was extensively renovated prior to moving in and we were able to select or upgrade flooring, appliances, cabinets, etc. We are delighted with the customized features of the apartment. We have found there are many benefits to living in a well-established community with several dining options, extensive fitness equipment and wellness programs, a wide range of activities and special-interest groups, and a beautiful campus with mature trees. Most welcome has been the general friendliness and helpfulness of our fellow residents. There is real community spirit at Asbury.

Asbury Methodist Village is everything we were looking for in a CCRC. There is a great balance of community, activities, privacy, and security. The people here, residents and associates, are for the most part friendly and happy. It began feeling like home as soon as we got to our apartment. We especially enjoy the Blue Zone Project and Kinnections for brain health. The availability of all sorts of activities.

I moved here in November of 2020 when we were not allowed to visit neighbors. However, as soon as it was allowed I had invitations from our new neighbors to visit and socialize.
I was not hesitant about moving - I moved because Covid-19 closed my granddaughter's daycare and my daughter needed help taking care of her. I considered other CCRCs but AMV had Villas which felt more like moving from a home to a home than moving to a high rise apartment would have.
Once vaccinations allowed me to mingle with a few people I discovered many activities and started participating. Since moving here I have joined a chorale and sing weekly, learned bocce and practice nearly every week, joined a men's group that eats at our on-campus cafe weekly, started playing bridge again, and join a game-playing group for some kind of table-top game once a month.
I hope to be able to enjoy living at AMV for many more years.

Asbury is a first rate nursing facility; from the doctors, to the nursing staff, to the maintenance staff, everyone works together to deliver exceptional services. My mother is safe and well cared for. Thank you Asbury!

I could not have found a better place to spend the later years of my life - actually our lives. We are fortunate that we found Asbury Methodist Village - a beautiful, wooded area to live in, medical assistance when needed, safety, but above all good friends, excellent learning and a service environment. These are important elements I want continued in my hopefully long life. Thank you to all my friends and the hard working people at AMV. Love you all.

Coming home to Asbury Methodist Village is like an ideal balance of luxury resort, college dorm, and summer camp.
I first learned about the Asbury organization and CCRCs over 20 years ago when I had massage clients at Asbury Solomons. In that role I was able to observe the various living styles and levels of care from a first hand perspective. I knew then that this was the atmosphere and standard I wanted for my retirement.
Twenty years later, when my husband and I began planning for our transition from our beautiful home on 3 wooded acres into a CCRC, we began our research at Asbury Solomons. We visited over a dozen communities as far south as Virginia Beach and as far west as Winchester and had narrowed it down to Asbury Solomons or one other community when our attention was drawn to Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg.
Here we found everything that had appealed to us in the other communities plus features we had been unable to find elsewhere, including flexibility of eating plans and a willingness to work with the healthy diet that we have chosen for ourselves.
There is such a wealth of community, education, activities, beautiful outdoor spaces, and so much more. Moving in, we thought it could not get better. Two months later they introduced the Blue Zone Project to support residents in living the healthy lifestyles that have been studied in the five healthiest societies on the planet - something we had already been studying and pursuing on our own. Last month they introduced the Distinguished Speaker Series where we literally had front row seats for a talk and interview with Jonathan Capehart.
We moved in 8 months ago and cannot recommend it more highly. Do your due diligence, but be sure to include Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, Maryland in your research.

If you are considering Asbury, please do your research carefully. Not only is it expensive, we experienced major failures with nutrition support, nursing care, and simple kindness. My mother came for rehab after a stroke. By the time I removed her from this place, she felt dispirited, hungry and afraid. I was stunned.
UPDATE: I've had conversations with Charles, who runs the long term care and rehab wards. My mother was initially assigned to the long term care ward, which set her off on a bad path. When she complained she wasn't able to eat the food her concerns were dismissed; when she ended up with diarrhea from the foods she wasn't supposed to eat and wasn't willing to eat more, she was labeled as difficult. (my mother has allergies to onions and is lactose intolerant; in the pictures you can see the chicken covered with onions, loaded baked potato soup, and you can also see that the tray is missing the hot water (for tea), iced tea, and almond milk called for on the slip)
3 weeks in I had my first care team meeting - my fault, I should have been more insistent that they happen earlier and in more detail - and Charles identified that she was in the wrong ward and moved her to the right one. Her situation improved after the move but her reputation as difficult traveled with her. My conversations with Charles, once we connected, were among my most effective and consistent, and he has reached out to understand what went wrong and how things can be improved in the future. While I appreciate that, there remain problems with the organization with nutritional support, communication, coordination and care.
