The staff was so incredibly friendly here and all cared about the animals very much. I ended up adopting my pup from them, and they were so happy to see him find a home. The coordinator I sat down with was incredibly knowledgeable and provided her email so I could contact her with any questions, if I needed recommendations for trainers, etc. It was a great experience adopting my dog here and can't recommend them enough!

Helpful and happy staff!
Went in to renew a pet licence and was greeted with a smile.
They are open weekends so that is nice too!
Many pets available for adoption.

We have a very senior cat. I recently found 2 cats on the website. We want to give the cat a home, especially the senior cat but unsure how it will interact with our older cat and its temperamental. It is not that we are visiting the cats to pass our time. From what I have noticed on the website (i) one needs to get an appointment - no walk-in (ii) calendar is not user friendly (iii) Hours of operation are very limited. (iv) The auto generated "Emili" does not contain much information eg. ref. Id no. cat's name, etc. (v) They don't have a system that inform you when a cat has been adopted. You pretty much have to be on their website. With a heavy heart, we have decided to cancel our appointment via email notification (I don't see a system to allow me to cancel). I gave 1 star - for responsiveness. Hope those cats find sweet homes. I hope the system and service will be more efficient to accommodate those who are looking to adopt.
We went to drop off a kitten today and the staff told us that since they do not have room for an other cat, we should put her back outside and she will find her way home. Please note that its -20°C outside. We found her almost frozen to death. Luckily we found her a nice home but the staff lack of empathy for the animals. They didn't even offer to find her a refuge. Extremely mad and disappointed

This organization is failing the community. They won't even allow you to stop in to look at the animals to adopt them. You have to book an appointment just to show up. This is ridiculous. They expect you to work on their time yet their main priority is to house animals that need a home. In the past we've been able to stop in unannounced and look at all the animals. I'm not sure what changed but it's not acceptable.

If you're looking to adopt a kitten, think twice about looking here. Their first come first serve policy makes it incredibly difficult reserve time to view a cat. Their viewing process of a sheltered cat versus a fostered cat is confusing, and not well laid out in their website. They take all day to answer an email, and when they do it's generic and not overly helpful. They're impossible to reach over the phone. Every time I attempted to view or adopt a cat it would be gone faster than I could go see it. I think they discriminate against English speaking Ontarians.

I adopted Binx now called Gracie over a year ago. There was a mix-up in age and gender but has all worked out really good. My friends adore Gracie, very attractive female grey and white with tabby swirls. She is more an outdoor cat unfortunately she has to live indoors. She loves my catproofed balcony now. Very playful and loves to "knead her owner at bedtime and drools".

Thanks SPCA for a beautiful Kitty!
