Great place to walk the pups.
Beautiful, but narrow in some spots, trail.

Truly one of my favorites!
Estaba lloviendo pero me gusta venir a caminar y en el verano es muy bonito para asar carne
What a great find! I can very easily ride my bike from Rockville to the beautiful Rock Creek Park trail on this stunning trail that allows me to avoid city roads. With its canopy of gorgeous trees, bridges over sparkling creeks, and abundance of nature, I forget that there's a busy city near me! I love this connector trail! I recommend staying on the paved trail and avoiding the dirt trail near Veirs Mill Rd. It's quite overgrown and can get very muddy after rain. The paved trail takes you to a roadside trail that connects in a few hundred yards to Rock Creek trail.
Fun place to take the kids. Several places where the kids can walk in the stream and toss rocks. Be a friend and bring a bag and collect the few pieces of trash which naturally build up in a park like this one nestled in a city. The nature center is also fun.

This is a wonderful place to go birding. It has lots of variety,. And is especially wonderful in the spring. Has lots of trails.
So glad I discovered this little gem of a trail. It was so peaceful and serene.

Easy escape from the city. Trails to enjoy with nice canopy lined by rock creek…
You need around 1h to finish the trail loop. It's beautiful. Difficulty: moderate.

A great place take a walk, even on a dreary day.
Great shade and the place to be!
Peaceful, heavily wooded trail with some great overlook features. Plenty of free parking.
I thought this trail would be kinda unpleasant since it is so close to the highway, but it was quite just fine a still a nice place for a walk. My pup thoroughly enjoyed the dirt trails. This loop has several circles and you can have a long walk without getting to far from where you parked. It is hilly and a popular spot for trail biking.we enjoyed wading across the creek and climbing on the rocks.
Very relaxing and peaceful here. I enjoy hiking the spider webs of trails, sponging up the scenery with the eyes, contemplating life in the graveyard, and now and then visiting thr nature centers critters.

Hard to believe this is Rockville.
A great place for a hike. The trail is well marked.

Went with a group of friends who are all in better shape than I am. :(
Paved path, some pretty steep sections.
Benches along the way.
Great view of the lake.
Saw a couple of people fishing.
Couples, a dig walker or 2, and one family with a young one in a stroller.

Beautiful walk through the woods on paved trail around a large lake. Pretty year round. Lots of birds and beautiful native wildflowers. Very steep hill near entrance, so not very wheelchair or even stroller accessible. Some parking, not a lot but usually enough. No restrooms or playground. Benches but no picnic area.
So this place was interesting, it had beautiful view, but it gets 4 stars bc the terrain is impossible even after the lightest rain
Street parking. Northern-terminus trailhead for the 9 miles of Cabin John Trail. Heard a barred owl, hawks. Lots of bloodroot at peak bloom (4 April 2022). Trail well maintained.
The trail leads to a fork that can take you on a rail-protected walk/bike lane on Veirs Mill, or a parallel hiking trail called the Twinbrook Connector which takes you through the woods. The deer make better company than cars, but the trail gets muddy or cluttered with branches sometimes. You can sometimes catch a sighting of a heron or call of a kingfisher around the bridge.

Big Pine trail is a short trail that connects several of the major trails at Lake Frank. The whole park trail network is well marked and presents little in the way of challenge for a hiker. Nice walk through the woods.

This is a beautiful little nook of woods in the rock creek area. Streams are the clearest I’ve seen in the area, only wish it was more secluded! You can see apartments at specific points on the trail. For the most part it’s secluded enough. Very fortunate I live so close, it’s beautiful and definitely worth hiking. Although I’m picky, I prefer full seclusion as emersion into nature when I’m in the woods.

Went hiking with my wife this afternoon. Not very many people here. Beautiful day. Actually it was a perfect day. A few high school students were jogging. I assume they were training for Cross country. Something I did in high school. Think we walked about 3.5 miles. The lake seemed very full.
Love it

Lots of parking and exceptional views. We climbed on the rocks and sat and ate our packed lunch by the water.
Very nice, long trail. It’s a dirt Rock Creek Trail between Muncaster Rd and Muncaster Mill Rd, north of where the paved Rock Creek Trail starts by Lake Needwood.

Don’t get confused by the small branching trails—they just connect the two main trails at various points.

We found part of a Cooper’s Hawk carcass on one trail going out, and the rest on the other trail coming back. We were discussing what predator could kill a Cooper’s Hawk and leave the carcass in two distant places when a Bald Eagle flew overhead. Seems a family is nesting near this trail.
Beautiful and quick hike with views of the mansion

Excellent scenery, easy, flat hiking for all ages, abundant parking once in the park gates. This can be crowded during nice weather so be prepared for potential crowds (masks, sanitizer, try to distance, etc.). Some great opportunities for photos!
Lovely nature!

Great shaded trail on a sunny hot day, and also offers a number of challenging points that gets your heart rate pumping.

This is a natural surface trail featuring several purpose-built mountain bike obstacles alongside. There are 3 small streams you can easily cross dry-foot, but the trail crosses the North Branch underneath the ICC highway (rt 200) and most of the time you can't ford this without getting wet. Lacks a connection to the ICC trail (which it crosses below), and is mis-labeled at the southern intersection with the Long Branch Trail. Well marked with light blue blazes.
Nice trail
Great little neighborhood trail. Nicely marked with white blazes. This trail is pretty flat with a small stream crossing and mature trees. A great quick walk with kids not far from main roads.
