Easy walking trails through the natural lakeside setting. Plenty of signage about the wildlife, birds, and (invasive) plant species. You can walk a loop trail around the entire lake. The paths are well-maintained - some sections are boardwalks, others are concrete. Numerous families with strollers and young children were enjoying the level hike. Nice on a sunny November day. Will be back in the spring!

Nice loop trail around deer lake , it’s flat and it takes you about an hour. Views are nice especially in sunny days.

Nice set of trails in the middle of Burnaby that are usually not too crowded even on weekends. Good for casual walking or jogging.

In the depths where desires reside, relentless winds stir the soul's tide. Realm of the Legend of Deer Lake, where stories and whispers abide.

Nice fresh walk in the early a.m. along the skytrain route from 22nd St Stn to Edmonds Stn. (20 mins or so)- all kinds of birds singing from the bushes, & saw some nice big old trees along the way.. Even found traces of old railway track, just b4 the big open park with playing field & picnic tables, opposite the train yard.. (Encountered only 2 cyclists the whole way, @ 5:40ish) So pleasant, the trains whizzing by overhead didn't bother me!🌿

Easy and relatively flat trail. Good for beginners and casual walkers. Walking around the lake can be done in under 2 hours.

Deer Lake is quite diverse in its wild life, expect to see a lot of different plants and animals hanging around. Lots of green and blues.

I find the smell of the lake to be quite distinctive.

Also be careful of insects too! Lots of them around including swarming flies, dangling worms from trees, and slugs on the ground.

Just another squirrel who witnessed the lady that got killed by the tree. I wanted to come and take a closer look but some other humans distracted me with some peanuts. 100/10 would come see the humans again.

I am the tennis court. I wanted to help the lady, but I was stuck because I have no feet. I feel left out. I am still here. People still pelt me with their tennis balls and walk all over me.

10/32 would like to get feet and walk away from this nightmare.
Great walking trail.

I was the Tim Horton's magical donut that no one wants to eat. Im now rotting in the bush. I could've saved that old lady but no one believed in my magical abilities. someone please come to rescue me, i have no legs. 100/100 will not come here again.
This is such a nice spot to bring the doggo for a casual walk around the lake. I was also very impressed with how accessible the trails are. There are benches placed throughout to provide a quick nature break. The board walks are wide and have toe boards to provide safe access for people in wheelchairs, walkers, strollers etc. However, some of the paved trails are slightly uneven and could use improvement.
All in all, a beautiful spot within the city to come and enjoy nature for a moment.

I was actually the son of the victim of the tree incident. I was actually at the tennis courts about 200 yards away. I saw my mom and dad so I went over to say hi. It was at that moment that a tree branch fell on my mom's head. I was in shock. I called an ambulance and told them what happened, but they never showed up because they said it wasn't a big deal. She was buried in that park and I go there every day with my dad. 164/12 would bury again!

I was never able to understand the name "Trail Of Hope." I was hiking here last week, and I saw a tree fall over on to a woman who looked to be about 70 years old. Many people rushed to the scene to help her. One person suggested a place called Tim Horton's Magical Donuts, but another person said it was permanently closed. The funeral was at the park four days later. 11/10 would hike again!
