I have always loved bread mill cakes but of late I am so disappointed ☹️. I have bought lemon condensed cake for years and the cake to fill ratio was always spot on . Right now the cake was so dry and filling was non existent , I get inflation but would have rather they reduce size than quality of cake . It doesn’t even taste the same anymore.. The sponge is even dryer than usual aii bandla

After having 2 terrible experiences with The Bread Mill I decided to give it 1 last try and it was awesome.
We ordered a cake for my son’s birthday and everything from the initial call to actually getting the cake was a breeze! Lungi did a an amazing job at explaining everything to us and making sure our order was correct, even though it was short notice.
Lungi is a star and has renewed my faith in The Bread Mill’s abilities.

I like the fact that they open 24 hours, I think that's amazing. The cakes are great, more especially the cream, but the sponge could be more moist and soft.

The best pastries and cakes, pies and everything in between. If you’re from Durban you know the old “Bread Ahead” now the Bread Mill. And if you’re visiting Durban, it has to be one of the attractions within Durban. Very difficult to walk out with just one item. Well priced for what you are getting. Quality baked goods! Staff are very friendly. Coffee is also available which is, again, also awesome! We love The Bread Mill!

Having worked a 48 hour shift it was time to treat myself. At 6h30 I bought 4 Kitke loafs, a giant Cheese Croissant and Mutton Curry pie.

The piping hot short crust pie was stuffed with tender juicy spicy mutton in a thick gravy, simply delicious. Safe to eat without risking being covered in annoying puff pastry. Great value for money.

The Cheese Croissant, too large to enjoy in one go, was savoured at tea and lunch with a blob of butter.

My neighbor was delighted with her 3 Kitke loaves, I look forward to try mine tonight.

Ample parking at 6h30. Staff friendly and efficient.

I visited bread mill bakery today and that left a lasting impression on me. The atmosphere was nothing short of amazing—a cozy, welcoming space that invites you to stay a little longer. But what truly stood out was the staff. They were beyond friendly and incredibly helpful, making the experience all the more enjoyable.

Though I'm not typically one for sweet treats, the staff's kindness and warmth made me want to indulge. Their genuine sweetness was contagious, and I found myself purchasing more than I originally intended.

Keep up the excellent work—this bakery is a true gem!

The Freshest Baked Goods. You also get to see the people who work there work on the bakes.

Their pies are AMAZING, you can actually taste the meat, flavour and texture is spectacular. The crust and soup ratio is on par. I didn't have to save the juiciest part for last like other pies because this pie is JUICY all around.

The cakes are delicious and not filled with sugar but flavour. Also my favs are pastries, the best. Their Hot beverages are delicious. We had a Mocha and Hot Chocolate. If you haven't gone there, you're missing out.
