i've never been here and i've never heard anything abt it or seen any marketing

i was just walking around and decided to go in

pleasant atmosphere and decoration

everything looks clean and nice

i had to wait a bit for seating because it was busy but no worries

if anyone wants to come in and not wait i'd advise booking because it seems like that's their preferred way of seating people since they asked if we had a booking upon entry

service was very nice and all the food came quickly

i think everything is reasonably priced as the total came to $90 for two sides, two drinks, and two mains.

the food was very good i was really impressed

the ramen was good

the unagi was really good !

the side salad was also very nice the dressing was good and it was very nice and crunchy as is came with some sort of topping

the miso soup was just alright but i'm not picky with miso soup since it comes in a set and i didn't have to order it on the side

my only thing is.

i drink a lot of water and i have to go to the water station a lot to refill
and i wish the rice was less soft

but those two are more personal preferences since i personally drink a lot of water and i personally prefer less soft rice. i always add less water when i make rice to make it not super soft.

overall im very happy. i ended up reading some reviews before making my review and it seems like a lot of people had issues with service here but i did not experience that at all

service was very quick and friendly

Came here on Friday night as we were hungry and most other places had a line or were full and we can understand why this place had so much space. While the food was decent, it was quite expensive for what it was and the sushi train was no better, with some of the fried foods soft already during dinner service. Overall I wouldn’t recommend if in the area and just try and find another restaurant instead.

This ramen shop is a gem! The duck broth ramen is rich and flavorful, and the matcha sake is a perfect match. Great food, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service 🍤🍤A must-visit in vic park. The staff with purple hair is a treasure to the shop.

Never again. We visited Tao today at 4pm because most restaurants in the vicinity had closed between lunch and dinner. What a mistake. Service was slow and forgetful. Kaiten food was poor quality and sparse. Sign at the table stated that we wait for plates to be counted. Despite asking for the account we were not met at the table with someone to count the plates. Waste of time, waste of money, will not ever return; we'd rather travel to Jaws or other reputable Kaiten sushi.

Dirty place. Terrible food. They had oyakodon on the menu but didn’t understand what it is. Asked for more oyakodon sauce, got a udon broth instead. Chicken katsu had very bad meat odour which indicates the meat is probably really old. Will not be returning.

never again. some lullaby music playing in the background while we ate old dry sushi. the salmon tasted like everything but salmon since they obviously don’t change gloves or wash their knifes at all. the server didn’t even give us a menu or anything. barley any selection and i saw jelly and bagged lollies pass me more often than actual sushi. for a sushi train that’s kinda strange. instead of this ‘sushi train’ go to the one in carousel, at least they have fresh for and servers who know what to do. it felt like a food hall. soy bean drink was good tho.

It's a small sushi restaurant.
The Sashimi was sliced very thin, so I couldn't take a picture of it because I ate it all up in no time.🤣
And, we also ordered Teriyaki chicken and Ramen, which was slightly different from my order, but on average, they were all delicious.
It was a bustling atmosphere, but if the food is good, you can understand that, right?
Actually, I did. Because it was a busy time, customers kept lining up.
Next time, I'm really going to eat Spicy Ramen.

I appreciated the non-oily broth, but the serving was quite small, with only two very thin slices of pork. The noodles had a nice, firm al dente texture, but the broth was not particularly memorable

Great tasting food. Black Garlic raman is the best and must try. Devils picy Raman is tastey and the Shiyo raman is also delicious.

I find the place good to above average only. The food is not too bad but compared with Keisuike down the road. It somewhat pales in comparison. However having said that. The black garlic ramen is tasty and wholesome especially with the gyoza. An Above Average Ramen place.

My first time here and it didn’t disappoint 😋.
The place is cozy and the staffs are attentive and welcoming!

I ordered Spicy Miso, very tasty, yummy and the miso enhance the flavour of the soup. I added extra egg and meat! The cha shu is very soft

Karaage was just ok for me, it is a bit dry and salty based to my liking.

My partner had the Curry Ramen it was good and flavour is well balanced

Thank you! See you next time.

Food was affordable and a lot of options to pick. Unfortunately, some of the food did not taste good: tofu rice paper wrap tastes terrible, the sushi roll was cut too big and the rice's taste was too sour and mushy.
The waitstaff was quick and efficient, but sadly she was not friendly.
She swept the floor beside us when we were still munching our food. We personally felt like they were trying to keep the place clean, but not at the right timing because the dust can just contaminate our food when they were sweeping.
Hopefully they can increase the food quality more and also the service.

This is our favourite Japanese restaurant and I feel a real hidden gem. The menu is extensive and caters very well to meat eaters and vegetarians.
Each dish has so much flavour and presented with love.
The customer service is also exceptional. On our last visit, the waitress overheard it was my sister in laws birthday and brought over a cocktail and the sweetest little paper crane 💕
It is not bright and in your face like many restaurants along the strip (maybe why it is quiet) but if you are looking for a restaurant where you can have long conversations over great food and never feel rushed, I highly recommend.

Oh, it is byo however they also have a great selection of local and imported alcohol.

I recently ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry Don from Ramen Samurai through UberEats. The food itself was delicious, one of the better curry's I've had in Perth. However, the serving size of the meal left me with mixed feelings and I'm writing this review so that hopefully others can make informed decisions based on their preference.

The price for the dish was $22.50, and I opted to pay extra for additional curry sauce which was another $3. The total cost, including the extra sauce, seemed a bit on the higher side, but I was willing to pay for what I hoped would be an exceptional meal based on reviews.

Upon receiving the order, I couldn't help but notice that the quantity of curry sauce was somewhat disappointing. As you can see in the attached photo, the sauce container was only about a third full and the container which had the rice in, did not have any curry in it.

I reached out to the restaurant and they responded by saying that the amount of curry received was standard, saying that it's about three ladle's worth using their standard ladle. I generally eat what I'm given but on this occasion still felt that it was a lot less than regular serving sizes from many other restaurants.

Looking at some of the other reviews, it seems there is at least one other customer who's expectation was not met in regards to the serving size.

In the end, my experience with Ramen Samurai was okay. Again, the food itself was very delicious but portion size, especially for a meal that I paid $25 for was not to my expectation.

Worth noting that they did offer to refund the $3 I paid for extra curry sauce which was nice of them but that wasn't why I reached out so I declined.

Wow. Ive been to Japan a few times and the chef is the real deal. If you enjoy the cuisine as it is in Japan, this is THE place. I seriously wanted to drdg people in for the experience. 10/10 in all aspects. The best dining experience ive had in Perth.

The first time we’ve been to Senoji.
A pleasant surprise and as it wasn’t too busy it was easy to talk and enjoy the food.
A really good range of small and large meals in true Japanese style.
The owner/chef was attentive and helpful as was the wait staff.
BYO and licensed.
Will definitely go there again.

We were here for late lunch so it was not busy. Peaceful and quiet relaxing. Nice selection of food from the menu and there is a sushi train. We had beef Singapore noodles and crispy chicken fried rice. There were delicious. Staffs were not really attentive but service was fine. I don’t mind to dine in here but I think it’s lacking atmosphere. I hope the restaurant will look into this to improve.

I had to pre order the okonomiyaki (savoury pancake) as it apparently takes 2 hours to make. It tasted okay but the sauce was overpowering. When I went to pay he said next time there would need to be a minimum of two people to order it as it’s just not worth it. I’m not sure why an extra person would make a difference unless he meant there would need to be 2 orders of it? Either way if that’s the case then it should be written on the menu or if it’s such a hassle to make them remove it completely from the menu, found him a bit rude/blunt.

Good place to have Sushi in Victoria Park. Atmosphere is good, place is good for groups and families. Variety of Sushis are available on the train which keeps moving near the table. Staff was polite, service was really good. Recommended to try different type of Sushi’s here. If you have preferences of Vegan or Gluten Free Sushi, that is also available on the separate Menu.

This place is definitely open and serving decent sized helpings of Japanese food that most people would be familiar with. I've definitely had better tasting Japanese but the overall price, customer service and quantity made me give it a 4 star rating. Not bad for a local.

Agreed with Eric’s comment below – definitely purely for food and culture enthusiast only!

My partner and I are so so glad we found this little hidden gem and met the loveliest man behind it all – who has been there for 20+ years!

Yuki (Head chef) puts his pride and soul into making these dishes as authentic and simple as possible – identical to the taste you would find in Japan. I have never enjoyed such simple tastings in Japanese food in Perth, unlike at Senoji. Hands down J

Note: The chef solely works alone; please be mindful of the chef, and expect to wait – Yuki does an amazing job at managing, preparing the meals and serving. There were 3 tables and we did not wait all that long – we were happy to.

Senoji has been the first Japanese Restaurant we have been to that has kept it simple with no fusion – and we have tried all the Japanese Restaurants North to South of the river of WA

The food was delicious, authentic and the chef was very kind - remember not to shake his right hand too hard though, he has an injury! Thank you Chef.

We will see you again soon.

Very recomended place for someone finding japanese food in Perth. Here they do not serve pork, so save for muslim people. Beef udon taste really good. Unagidon also full of flavour and with big portion. We will come again because so many menus haven't try yet. They also have sushi for $3.5 or $6 for two.

Teriyaki chicken rice was amazing. So tasty.
I went to on happy hour, so $16 for 2box, was really cheap.

Went to the Melville Tao Cafe on the 2 May and that was 5 stars. Boy was that really good sushi and a lot of different variety. Went to the Victoria Park one today and the sushi variety was a lot less and had to order from the menu as the ones that I did like never went on the sushi train. Plus the sushi rice was not made perfectly.

Maybe be best to stick with the Melville store as had a better experience there then the Vic Park store.

Interesting place. We came for early dinner, kids wanted sushi, but this place s out of sushi rice. That aside, kudos to the chef, trying his best to prepare good Japanese dishes. The waiter too, was doing her best to welcome everyone, do the clean up, take orders and serve food. She was looking exhausted but still doing her best waiting tables. Authentic? Yes but i ve tried other japanese chefs’ food too so i can say, to be fair, food here is alright. Serving is still small (that’s japanese serving) even though the menu reads ‘big serving’. Price wise, yes it’s pricey for the taste but then again i ve been to other japanese places where we paid 500 for a family of four (dinner) - prepared by Japanese chefs too. So, yea, again, this place is okay. Atmosphere is a bit gloomy. Good for long chit chat with friends. Great for families and couples too. There s always room for improvement of course & we wish the chef (s) and the entire Senoji team good luck.

Good atmosphere to be, great for groups, families and even couples. Kids love the sushi train especially when it comes to desserts. They serve not only sushi but other Asian food. Plenty to choose from despite some hits and misses when it comes to taste but overall experience is great. Located next to IGA,this place is quite spacious. Service is good and food is reasonably priced.

Very authentic Japanese cuisine and some exceeded expectations by a lot!! Though not all food was extraordinary, the gyoza was pretty average. Food was overall great but jazz music really gave me anxiety when I’m having sushi.. and the scent could improve it smells like soggy wood upon entrance which takes away a bit of appetite. Price was on the higher side but quite worth it for the quality of food. I am surprised that I only came to discover this place after years and years of eating at Vic park every day.. but I will be back, they got the sake tastings that we wanna try next time!

The only thing I could say is that the okonomiyaki was good. Food taste good but not enough to cover for the odd things about the place.
The service friendly.
But that was it. Odd atmosphere where its too solemn like you are attending a wake. No music so quiet.

We were first in before others but most of our meals were last. 2 meals didn't turn up.
They we apologetic but the whole experience was weird.
We left feeling deflated and disappointed with the whole dining experience.
