Love this hidden gem of a restaurant! Place is clean and the vibe is relaxing. Service is great - the servers and the chefs are wonderful. The beef and shrimp teppenyaki are super yummy. I am picky with beef, but I would eat the beef teppenyaki here everyday if I could! Typically, the teppenyaki comes with an appetizer (cucumber/seaweed mix, which I only ask for the cucumber), salad (some greens mixed with some potato salad) and a couple sauces. I ask for the Thai green chili sauce on the side and sometimes some spicy mayo to mix with the flavorful garlic fried rice that I order on the side of the teppenyaki. The portion size is good and yes, it is probably a bit more expensive to dine and drink some beer/wine here, but it's worth it! Definitely recommend and I am always excited to dine at Tokyo Taro.

The food was absolute amazing and very delicious, the atmosphere is very simple, yet very classy, beautiful, cozy, and homely. The staffs were good too and very polite, they were caring as well, but sure can improve on attention to customers and seeking of customer's feedback and validation.

Everything was perfect. The atmosphere, the customer service and the food. I really enjoyed the delicious food and I'm planning to come again. Just a hint the place is smaller than it's look and it has only 4 dining table.

Sushi Box is my go-to sushi spot! Their rolls are bursting with flavor, and they have a great selection to satisfy any craving. The service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual meal or takeaway. Highly recommend!

Amazing place for Japanese cuisine lovers , ordered two sushi plates, each have 8 pcs, they taste so fresh and nice, also we ordered chicken noodles , very nice taste and flavors , I really recommend this place, we were served by Mr.Loken great hospitality , thank you so much.

Food was nice, limited options for vegetarians. The price was also friendly. The service can be improved. The food to the table was quick, but attention was missing. The table was not clean initially, the order was taken a while later, the cutlery was to be asked, etc. but we came out satisfied due to the food and the price.

We had a meal for two, starter main and dessert. The food and service were perfect. We were guests in the hotel. Our server Ankit was very attentive, as were all the staff. The atmosphere was good and the music was just right to be able to hold a conversation.

Have order California roll and crispy cream roll both was good. Also order two shrimp tempura but wasn’t that good and you can taste the oil in the shrimp and batter was less. Apart from that the restaurant looks good and you can enjoy the vibe. Service was quick as well.

Before it was one of my favorite restaurants, but now I do not recommend. Food quality not the same also my friends agreed with me..
Today I ate inside restaurant; I got surprised that the type of noodles was different and no one informed me before ordering. Prawns, beef and chicken are less comparing to before…

Takara is a decent sushi place, albeit a bit pricy.
Although it’s in a hotel, we felt that the interior was charming and cozy.
The staff is very engaging and helpful, service was good.
We were there for dinner but they run a weekend open brunch which i think is a good opportunity to have a tasting of their menu.
The standouts in the food department were the black cod (albeit quite pricy), the wasabi prawns and the banana tempura. Otherwise sushi was fresh, and the unagi was soft and fatty, so it was good.

Maintained quality for the win!

I sincerely love that this place has managed to one, stay relevant, and two, maintain its great taste.

The decor and general look of the place hasn't changed since I first visited, and that's not a bad thing at all. In contrast to the subtle colors used in the hotel that it is located in, the signature red is a solid stamped reminder that you have in fact walked into Takara.

The staff?

Very friendly, knowledgeable about the entire menu and therefore can recommend dishes that cater to your particular palette.

The chef and the food?

You could take a seat on one of the many tables available, but I would personally recommend you request to sit at the iron grille table where the food from the Tappanyaki menu is prepared live in front of you. The entertainment you receive, along with usually the chef's wit is certainly worth the time you are going to spend there.

The food itself is just simply put, delicious. I would kindly request, for spicy eaters like myself, for Takara to possibly add hotter powders or chillies as an option, but this does not takeaway from the dine-in experience at all. It would just make it that much better in my opinion.

The price is somewhat on the higher-end, but you do get what you pay for I suppose. It is a "fine dining" experience located in a hotel, so, I do get that a certain standard needs to be maintained, which of course comes at a price.

In conclusion. Are you still reading this? Go there, be sure to ask for Lucan and Roland, and EAT!

The tepenyaki is completely worth it. We loved the experiential feel of the meal.
One of the two good Japanese places in the city, the other one being Takara.

Amazing food, great service, a perfect atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Before this experience, I was not a fan of Japanese food, but now I can tell you,I love it.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. We chose the live station set, and it was a great experience. At the end, they surprised us with a nice, decorated, and delicious desert with a birthday song.
Special thanks to Mr. Manish, Mr. Ankit, and the others,of whom I don't know their names, for their great hospitality and being so friendly.
This restaurant is highly recommended. Don't miss the chance to try it.

The service was very good and the food was good. I would recommend trying the Veggie Hanoi and Veggie Tempura Roll. The California was average and the Chicken Gyoza dumplings weren't that great. Overall the price satisfied the amount of food given.

I was never a sushi girl; tried multiple but never like it. But the sushi I had here was so good. I guess I just never had quality sushi.

This restaurant is a must visit if you like to indulge in Japanese cuisine. The food quality, the service, and the interior are outstanding. Every dish we had was delicious. I honestly cannot remember my favorites because I visited 2 months ago.

I was invited here by my family for my birthday. And I got surprised by the staff by bringing me a birthday desert plate and singing for me. They were the sweetest!

Quality is always good. Price is abit high but its worth eating. The portion of food is more than enough for one person. Sashimi is also fresh and cold which is very important. Been here a few times so whoever who wants japanese food should come try this restaurant!!! Service is fantastic too!!

Been here twice and have to say that both times the staff are super attentive. Brought my colleagues the second time around and they also loved it. Muscat residents would probably say this is the best Japanese resto in the city and I would have to agree. Try their bento lunch offers (hope it's still on). Edamame cooked just right. Have to see the teppanyaki chef in action the next time.
