I moved to Canada in July 2022 and began the search for a family doctor. I signed up via the LFDP google webform and didn't hear back from them for some time. During that time I managed to land a doctor in Pitt Meadows - but I found their care lacking and they would only accept phone appointments. As I moved to Langley I continued to look for family doctors closer to home and eventually I was placed with HealthPoint Medical Clinic.
In September 2023, I reached out to the HealthPoint Medical Clinic to ask them what the onboarding process was and I received a response:
"The intake process is 1-2 weeks. Someone from the office will reach out and book a meet & greet appointment with you."
I sent in all of the application paperwork and patiently awaited their staff. Eventually two weeks became two months and then in November I reached out by phone having not heard anything from their staff.
At this point their staff told me that I had been rejected because I had noted I already had a family doctor. They didn't even reach out to let me know I had been rejected. I passively accepted their decision, but my wife had not and called them back to clarify. As we spoke with another staff member the original person I spoke to took the phone from them and bluntly told me that they "shredded my application" and I was rejected.
At this point I felt like it was an accusation, as if I were trying to "play the system". But I'm an immigrant. I barely know the system. I came here and needed a family doctor to manage my chronic conditions. I tried the various options to get a doctor and eventually was placed with one in March 2022. How is it my fault that I wanted to switch to a doctor closer to where I live? I didn't lie on my applications, and I made it plainly clear that I had a doctor but wished to switch to a new doctor.
This entire experience has been disappointing and slightly humiliating, perhaps words that a healthcare division doesn't wish to have associated with their standard of care.
It also seems that there are many bad reviews for a "rude" receptionist at this clinic, maybe she should consider how she treats the sick and needy before considering continuing in this profession. Or maybe that should be the role of her employer.

easy to book an appointment with the Doctor. friendly staff

Excessively rude front staff, have no decent way of talking to a patient. Healthcare bieng such a respectable profession, they are utterly disrespectful and unprofessional. Would definitely not reconmend!!

Yesterday, I called this clinic to let them know that I got into a car accident and I needed to get checked in. The lady who answered told me that their first available walk-in is tomorrow at 8:30am. Today, I got dropped off around 7:30am & waited in the parking lot in case of a line up. I saw on the clinic door that business hours are 9-4. When I saw someone inside, I called in around 8:21am to ask about their walk-in hours because on the door it said 9-4. The receptionist picked up sounding very bitter on the phone interrupted me even before finishing up my question to say they are open at 8:30 and then hanged up the phone in my face. After she opened the door, I was the first patient & I asked for a walk-in. She told me their first walk-in was in 15 minutes, which was strange because when I called in the clinic yesterday, I was told the first walk-in was at 8:30am. Regardless, I told her that I’ll wait. Then she asked me what was the reason for the visit & I told her that I got into a car accident & I had been feeling stressed out at work & so I needed a medical note and referral. She told me that they don’t do claims or referrals or see patients who already have a doctor! That didn’t make sense to me as I had been to a walk-in clinic & wasn’t denied seeing a doctor. I told her I really needed to see a doctor; she still denied me to see a doctor, even when I already called the day before and informed the clinic the reason of my visit. After that, I left the clinic and called my doctor’s office to inquire if these claims that the receptionist made at this clinic were true. They said that it was very bizarre of her to say and the claims that she made are not accurate about walk-in clinics. Walk-in clinics are to take on any patients, give medical notes, do referrals, and process claims. This receptionist is clearly discriminating after seeing my face because when I called-in yesterday, none of these bizarre claims were made when I mentioned the exact same reasons. I’m utterly disappointed & hurt by this clinic as it subjects patients like me to be treated terribly, unkindly, and with discriminatory behaviours.

Dr.Gill is very patient and very nice with kids, he makes my kids love the visit.Thank you🙂

Good service, clean, there is a parking lot, and they speak Arabic also

*not a walk-in clinic* I ended up wasting time because Medimap says this is a walk-in clinic. It is not. When I arrived and found out it wasn't a walk-in clinic I suggested they should update Medimap. The receptionist didn't seem concerned at all. She simply said, "I'm logged out of Medimap." OK, so if you are logged out and patients are still seeing it as a walk-in, maybe someone should log in to Medimap and update the account settings? I feel like someone in the clinic can log in and make that change to save people a lot of confusion and time as they seek out medical help.

Dr. Kim is our family doctor and she has been the most patient, polite and friendliest family doc to us! Her attentive listening, bed side manners, sound advise and guidance has made our experience a positive one. I would highly recommend Dr. Kim as a family doctor to anyone. The clinic staff and receptionist are also very friendly and prompt in assisting patients. It is so easy to communicate with the staff. Five stars from the Careems and keep up the good work :)
