There were about half a dozen flavours on offer: my friend and I shared some of their 3 Cheese pizza: it was oh so cheesy! 🤤 Friendly service, too.

In my experience, the quality of a pizza hinges on its bread. Here, it's crispy on the outside and fluffy in the centre without being too dense or doughy. This is exactly what I like in a slice, and with the cheese being of a high quality, I know I can order any toppings and still love it.

If you share similar tastes, then The Block is where you need to visit.

I tried two vegetarian pizza slices yesterday and they were really nice. Keep up the good work guys, you are doing an amazing job.

Popped in this Saturday lunchtime, lovely greeting from the staff behind the counter. Asked him for 4 slices of his choice and they did not disappoint. Genuinely not had pizza this good in York before. The bases were so crispy and the toppings didn’t just slide off with every bite. Fantastic little lunch spot. Plenty of seating, it’s a real shame this place isn’t packed out, especially being a sunny Saturday in the city centre!

It's a good pizza express, Building is really nice and feels historical. Had a lovely view In a window seat overlooking the river ouse. It's always a winner with our kids so is also a winner with us parents. We had no booking so had a 10mi wait which at 6pm on a Saturday isn't unreasonable.

Been here a few times for pizza time, great tasting reasonable sized slices. Costs about a fiver, large diverse selection of pizza to choose from.

Firstly, it was a Friday night so I expected the restaurant to be busy. There was a live band playing when we went. Unfortunately, I went with my family and it was quite loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. This is not the restaurant's fault as it was popular entertainment. Just be aware before you book if you want a quieter evening.

Had mostly starters as I wasn’t quite in the mood for pizza. The calamari, wings and pesto dough balls were a delight, however the garlic mushrooms were less garlicky and more balsamic vinegary.

The service was okay - it was a Monday evening, so pretty slow but it took a good 5-10min at the entrance with nobody to be seen waiting to be seated.

My partner had the sloppy guiseppe, and it seemed very fresh and usual fare for Pizza Express.

The highlight is always the Billionaire’s Sundae. They give a mix of caramel and vanilla ice cream with biscuit crumble and chocolate syrup. We shared one this time around but usually, we can easily polish off one each. Highly recommend this for dessert!

Went there last night. Arrived very early for our reservation but was assured by the smiling manager it was no problem. We were seated and very quickly our order was taken by a lovely waitress Ade’. The pizzas arrived very quickly and were hot. Dessert was warm brownie and gelato.
I had travelled up from Liverpool to see my daughter and it was lovely to sit and chat. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. They allowed us to sit and chat over coffee, long after other places would have kicked us out. We had a really lovely evening together. Thanks

The food was very nice and Marta was lovely, very cheerful and efficient. However, we were not particularly impressed by the person which showed us to the table (I’m afraid I didn’t catch his name, but he was wearing a striped Tshirt). Very curt, we didn’t feel welcome at all. I would suggest choosing front staff with better social skills.

On a day trip to York to attend an organ recital at the Minster and as my family and I were tired of walking and absolutely starving, we popped in here. I enjoyed a delicious spicy meat feast pizza and glass of red wine. Good value - I was expecting much higher prices due to being in major tourist area.

love eating in here staff are lovely but for the love of god please do not get takeaway. pizza toppings were thrown on with no care very lopsided and dough balls were really uneven sizes? felt like i got scammed lol. everything arrived cold.

The Block is a great spot for pizza, we popped in for a quick bite and a pint with not much time to spare. You can select which pizzas you want varying from £4-5 and they do you a large rectangular slice cut into 2 (we shared). As a recommendation, it's the perfect spot for a quick bite before doing something else for the evening. Staff were friendly, pizza was nice and they had good music on and a good selection of drinks, including brooklyn lager on draught!

Excellent food. Service was really good. We have visited other Pizza Express Restaurants many times and this is by far the best as the food was cooked to perfection and we didn't have to wait too long between courses.
Please also thank the waiter who served us. I forgot to mention how brilliant he was. He was so welcoming and my husband enjoyed talking about football with him!

Its such a good place. In Italy we loved these kind of places where you can taste few bits of different pizzas. I would love to have same concept place in our region. Me and my husband ordered each two slices and I was full for all day. Also the staff is so friendly. This place is very popular it was packed with people once we visited.

Tasty pizza sold in slices, great Brooklyn Lager on tap and a really nice friendly atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit and it was fun sitting by the windows and watching the world go by. There is a real welcoming vibe to the place. There are chargers for your mobile phone and even free women's hygiene products in the loo just in case you got stuck outside without any. I also loved the great picture of The Clash on the wall. This place is cool and the pizza is tasty. Highly recommended.
