This is a five generation family owned restaurant. The food was amazing, and the restaurant was beautiful. The numerous photos of all of the famous people that have eaten at the restaurant is a testament to the amazing food and service. The pesto pasta was extremely good, and the carbonara is the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We enjoyed our dining experience at Zeffirino. The food had delicious, atmosphere and ambience was classy yet easy going and the service was delightful. We ordered the wild salmon for antipasti and would highly recommend it. It was a medley of flavors in your mouth. The mandilli al pesto (Veg lasagne) was crisp, fresh and filling. The lobster pasta offered lovely seafood flavours as well. The starters and main course were definitely the highlights for the meal versus the desserts.

We found this restaurant as a bib gourmand recommended place.
Indoor seating was full so, we sat outside tables.
First, the service was excellent even though we were outside 👌🏻 The menu of the day was written in Italian, so the lovely waitress translated it to us carefully. According to the menu we asked her what kind of wine she would’ve recommended. And we were very happy with our wine at the end.
We shared 3 course meal which was lovely and delicious and enough for two people.

Price/performance ratio was excellent. I definitely recommend this place for future reference 👌🏻
Oh and the bread basket 😍🤤

The absolute best service I have ever received from any restaurant. Fantastic staff and food. Me and my colleagues enjoyed it alot! Thank you for a magical experience!
The cantine is located in an alley close to the square, with possibilities to sit either inside, at the entrance outside or in the square. The wine was absolutely spectacular, especially given the low prices, and the food was very good as well. The service was a bit slow, we had to wait quite a bit and it gave us the impression the cantine was understaffed. The service was however very explanatory and friendly. Would definitely recommend for wine lovers and for those Wanting to have a good glass of wine before heading to dinner. Seems to be very popular with the locals as well!

It’s fine food if a bit uneven in quality. The pictured lasagne was excellent, the daily pasta and amberjack were good. Desserts were decent, with the millefogue being the outstanding plate.

Popped in for lunch as was recommended to us. Had fantastic sparking wine, white wine and finished with 2 different reds. All superb. Food snacks great too. Host very helpful. Reasonable price. Definitely recommend.
Thanks for the king hospitality and the amazing flavours... This place is truly an experience. Gotta try everything! From pasta to dessert this place knows how to please the appetite.

Amazing food with superb service. They create a fun performance when serving, enhancing the dining experience. The bread is super fresh and tastes fantastic. Complimentary Prosecco is a lovely touch. The waitstaff are multilingual, speaking English, French, and Portuguese. Overall, I loved it and highly recommend this place.

The host was very kind. My husband had red wine and the host recommended a dessert wine for me that was amazing.

Cute traditional owner run Eatery in Genoa City Center, almost like a hole in the wall but when you enter it’s charming and place visited seemingly by mostly locals. Food was delicious specially the Lasagna which was one of the best I have eaten anywhere.

Lasagna was excellent. It’s a must try. Outdoor seating is very nice if you can’t get a table inside. The specialty black pasta with yellow eggplant wasn’t that good.

Great trattoria just off of the Piazza Ferrari. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent if you sit in the back there’s a window where you can see your food being prepared.
We had an excellent lunch here. The insalata russa with branzino was very delicate and delicious 😋. We had tongue and calamari as main course and as dessert marinated pineapple with lime, ginger and mint. A visit to this trattoria is recommended but ensure to make a reservation.

Great service in a bustling setting. It was well organized -- tho busy, our server was very attentive. The food was excellent -- a small menu with some daily specials. The emphasis was definitely on quality! The traditional Genovese lasagna was delicious. The homemade pasta with a seafood sauce was excellent, as was the appetizer of tartare. Save room for dessert. They are all to die for.

One of the most memorable lunches we’ve had. Nothing was too much trouble. My wife asked about 2 different vegetarian dishes she was contemplating and the waiter kindly offered to make half & half so she could experience both! That is not something that happens typically. The owner Marco and his family run an incredible operation and worth a visit next time you are in Genova ❤️🇮🇹
Zeffirino in Genoa, Italy, is a charming restaurant with a rich history dating back to 1939. The owner's warm welcome sets a friendly tone, and the authentic classic look enhances the dining experience. The waiter's attentive service adds to the overall enjoyment. The Aubergine starter, featuring a delightful mix of mozzarella and tomato sauce, is a delicious introduction to the meal. Additionally, their pesto pasta is a standout, showcasing the flavors of Genoa. I highly recommend Zeffirino for an authentic and delightful Italian cuisine experience.

Stumbled upon this place unexpectedly on our way to dinner and were immediately gripped. We weren’t disappointed. The host made sure we had a table that was available for two hours (until the next reservation), was very welcoming, and provided decent ‘aperitivo’ snacks. We tried three wines, all of good quality for a fair price. I wish this was my local bar!

We chose the "Zeffirino" restaurant because of its popularity in Genoa City.
Its Google score attracted our attention, knowing that it is located in the city center.
Upon entering, we already had a table prepared. Nice and clean. There are lots of pictures depicting the history of the Zeffirino family, which I guess from conversations must be a very popular restaurant in the city.
We were welcomed with a glass of champagne, which turned out to be nice, and the staff were extremely friendly (in general).
The food was nice. But no big deal. The soup (traditional from Italy) was good, but nothing special. Portuguese cuisine has had this same soup, which is much better and tastier, for many years.
The lobster pasta was reasonable. No big deal for a restaurant located in a country famous for its pasta. And I say lobster because I only got two pieces on my plate. Unfortunate.
The most negative point was in fact the waiter (probably the restaurant's owner) who greeted all the tables with greetings and welcomes, completely ignoring the table I was at.
Bad manners to say the least.
Mr. "Zeffirino", a word of advice from someone with a keen eye and an exquisite palate. You should NEVER interrupt my almost complete dinner by cutting up my lobster (2 small pieces). If you want to be friendly, be so from the start when we enter your restaurant. And treat all the tables with respect and greetings. That's how you make a good owner and a good business owner.
A place not to return to.

Ended up here in a moment of desperation, and we were not disappointed! Delightful vege/vegan joint, totally by accident!
Wonderful food, friendly service, pleasant atmosphere - a lovely accident!

Out of tower , out of country. Perfect old world decor for wine bar. Laid back friendly service off to the side of all the hustle and bustle. Great small plates to be shared (was a party of 2). Good wine.
In theory these things are simple but not always easy to execute. This place does it effortlessly. Exactly what I was looking for.

An elevated culinary in a vegetarian restaurant is such a treat. Wonderful food in a small piazza with friendly service. We will return.

Love this place so much I visited twice on my trip. I was so overwhelmed with how delicious all the vegan choices sounded. There were a range of vegan starters, firsts and seconds. I would highly recommend the reg cabbage gnocchi if it is still available on the menu! Amazing service and lovely staff.

Really excellent little wine bar. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, the food is flawless and the wine selection is interesting, delicious and very reasonable. Just let the guy guide you through the list and be prepared to try everything. One note: if you’re trying to find the place outside of their opening ours the shutters will be down with no obvious branding/signage. Don’t give up though! Just a come back when their open - it’ll be worth it.
The vegetables inside change depending on the season but often include chards, spinach, artichokes, potato, onion, squash or pumpkin. The variety and simplicity of the tortes means they please just about everyone. We loved the spinach option at Cantine Matteotti, paired with one of their highly affordable wines, of course.
