The views from restaurant amazing and decent wine list however food disappointing and not the best for the price (seafood chowder highlight). You are definitely paying for views and parking at the restaurant. Bookings recommended.
Read a few reviews that weren’t happy with the food. We were the opposite ordered the blue cod pan fried it was moist tasty and delicious. Would definitely recommend. If it’s full. Reserve ahead then take the coastal walk. Well worth visiting
Such a beautiful place to dine. Taste of food was excellent, but we had been waiting for 1.5hrs the day we went and.we.were.super hungry. The staff did not have any communications for the delay at all.
We were visiting from Wellington. Pleasant surprise to be served by a fellow Filipino named Esther. Thank you. Great view of the Strait. Seafood chowder was rich and tasty. Steamed oysters is recommended. Just add salt to taste. Oyster dish quite pricey though.
Whilst it’s not five star worthy for a restaurant that lost its chefs it does ok. It has a great selection of craft beers some of which are brewed in bluff itself. Great views of the ocean.
Well worth the whole dining experience. This visit was outside the bluff oyster season, and there were no Pacific oysters available, so I opted for the blue cod served with a tasty fresh green salad and chips. Happy with the service the presentation and extremely delicious meal.
Was really happy to be back here after 5 years. I remembered that my family had a really wonderful time at Oyster Cove that time.
However, our visit today was truly disappointing. I can’t really put fault to the front of house as there were only 2 of them working. We had to wait 30 minutes before getting our order taken and another 1 hour 15 minutes before food started to arrive on the table. A shame that a restaurant of this class is often understaffed and overworking their employees.
While the wait is horrible, the food was even worse. We had to send back our steak as it was over cooked (requested medium). The second time of asking, steak still looked the same.
Oysters did not look fresh and we had to force ourselves to finish eating it.
Overall a bad experience and I would ditch the view for better food somewhere else.

A great restaurant with beautiful food although they had no chef when we visited. The staff were doing a brilliant job seeing food was still available. Wheelchair ♿️ friendly with 1 Bay at the top of the driveway right outside the entry. Fantastic views out over Foveaux Strait with Stewart Island in the distance.
