An excellent care home, kind and caring staff and a very homely environment

Thank you for looking after my grandad, James Merchant, although he was only with you for a short time myself and the family know that he was looked after extremely well. My family and I would like to thank all the staff at Meadow Rose for their kindness shown towards Jim.

Neville Williams house cared for our brother at end of life care. He couldn't get a space in a hospice. So Neville Williams kindly looked after him in his last few weeks. All the staff were amazing and treated David with so much care and respect. They looked after the family so well, as we stayed with him in his last few days. We will never forget your kindness at such a difficult time for us. We cannot fault any member of staff. Every single one of them was amazing. Thank you so much.

My father was here for around one year. He was a vegetarian (they gave him meat) was kept in over soiled nappies, care and attention was disgusting . Personal items stolen... (With no apologies or investigation).

Building is clean and modern, rooms are well spaced, staff are hit and miss

I visited this home to implement a new eMAR system - Camascope. The team their were all lovely, kind, friendly and they all said hello as I walked through the home. I was given my lunch which was so tasty and presented perfectly. A lovely home to visit. Thanks everyone.

An absolute pleasure to visit Meadow Rose Nursing Home, all the staff were very professional and friendly.I was made to feel very welcome and all my assessments were carried out on time with everyone working as a Team. With particular thanks to Elizabeth and Kirsty for their help arranging these visits. Paul Lea Wheelchair Specialist. EMS Southwest Ltd.

I highly recommend Harborne Lane Nursing Home. My mother, Betty, was treated with the utmost care, respect and dignity by all staff. My sincere thanks to you all.

Its been hard watching my mom slip away, but the nursing home has made things such a smooth process. Home is well keep and have great staff.

I completed 2 weeks of placement here as a student paramedic. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly! We were given the opportunity to help out in all sectors of the home, I have gained valuable experience due to staff always being happy to answer any questions and show me their day to day work. Staff have great knowledge about all the residents different conditions and how they should be managed. All the residents seem content in their home and their needs are attended to. They are given the opportunity to engage in activities, provided entertainment and have a lovely area for socialising. All in all it’s a lovely place, great environment and facilities and provides a homely feel for residents and their families

The staff are vile. My auntie was a resident and they didn't wash her properly. They would leave her during the night time and the staff would refuse to give her a wash and change her pad, unless she did a poo. Staff would call her names, including the management. Last year, it was better because the old manager was really lovely. The receptionist was promoted last year and the power has gone to her head. My auntie has also heard conversations about staff being found asleep in the cupboards! They think my auntie cannot communicate properly because of her ill health, but she tells me these things. I've complained to the home but they deny it and refuse to investigate it, as the complaints are sometimes against the managers.

Spoke to a lady name.mary fealy very helpful credit to the home

Dad has been here for a few months now. After initial issues he has settled in very well and is happy and relaxed. He has dementia. Room is nice. Visiting is really easy and you can sit in the room with your loved ones in privacy and comfort

My Mother recently passed away after staying at this home. They have lost most of her clothes. They were
Inspected by the Care Commission in 2020 who rated the home as needs improvement. It seems nothing has changed. We have reported this. Appalling.

I visited bournview for the king’s coronation party. Wow it was amazing all the staff so friendly and helpful. Residents looked so happy. It’s a really welcoming home.

Harborne nursing recently looked after my sister Tina she had early onset dementia. The staff were amazing at all times and the care given was brilliant i would highly recommend this home . MARIA HAYWARD

My mum has been at Bourn View since Jan 2019 and we couldn’t be happier with the personalised care and love she has been shown by the staff in all departments . She tells us on each visit how kind everyone is and how lucky she is to be there. She is always encouraged to come out of her shell and to eat properly and we love to see the FB photos of her laughing and joining in activities. It really is a first class care home and we have never felt this so keenly as in the last week when she had a health scare and was admitted to hospital. The BV carers were calm, compassionate and so caring and she was welcomed back with open arms and we could see the relief and joy on her face to be back ‘home’. Thanks to all the carers, housekeeping staff , reception and management for their professionalism and genuine care for the residents.

Wonderful, supportive and genuine caring place. Looked after my dad for 5 years. Cannot speak highly enough of it.

Disappointing

This is a very welcoming care home. Staff are friendly and well-trained, they are always happy to help with questions and treat the residents with dignity.
The home is very clean, the rooms are decorated to a high standard, and the food is really good which is important.
They really care and take time to get to know the residents, I can honestly recommend this home.
It puts your mind at rest knowing your family members, are safe and happy.

I researched Oakview prior to my moms placement and had nothing but the most positive response from previous and current residents families and her GP. She has been there since August and I cannot fault the staff especially in Beech Unit where she is. They are professional, caring and loving. All staff regardless of position know the residents by name , it feels like I’m part of the family. The activities are great to keep minds as active as possible. I can’t fault how well she being looked after and so pleased she’s in safe hands. Thank you x

I visited Bourn view recently and was given a very warm welcome. The home has a lovely elevated sunny position and beautifully designed boutique style facilities. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the home was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the home with many of the residents engaged in conversation and enjoying some of the fantastic well being activities provided. The bistro area was a hive of activity with residents and their families enjoying home made cakes and freshly ground coffee in the sunshine on the patio in the lovely courtyard garden. A beautiful home with wonderful staff and fantastic facilities.

Fantastic home, great staff and a lovely homely community

I want to visit this place to put my mom in there, but when I looked at it, the place was so dirty and nasty that I want to hardly you put my dog in there I will recommend do not put anybody in this care home. Do not put anybody in this K home. Do not put anybody in this care homeat home

My work there was very empowering. A very beautiful, caring home by all standard. Care receivers are made to feel at home from my observations. Care givers are very compassionate and the level of team work is very satisfactory

They were very kind to me when my father was there. They were lovely with my dad. Very professional and very kind. They do such a lively job. My father Barry Warner died last Wednesday and they were lovely. Thank you to each and everyone of you. Julz Hammond

My Husbands auntie was there up on till she passed away, care, amenities, food cleanliness ,the Staff would help in any way they could all, were absolutely amazing.

I like to thank all the staff for taking care of my father in law

I visited a friend for the first time at Meadow Rose yesterday. The last few months have been horrendous for her. i found the home to be immaculately clean. The virus precautions were absolutely spot on. my temperature was taken, my details were recorded for contact tracing, i was given appropriate ppe and escorted to her room. The members of staff I met were warm and welcoming. My dear friend is so much younger than the majority of their patients, I don't think she would be with them if it wasn't for the virus but that is not the fault of the staff at this home and it is to their credit that they recognise the sadness of her situation. I am so glad that at least she is in a place where staff see her as an individual. Obviously i cannot yet comment about food but I am so moved by their care for her i have to give them a five.

I have been working at Bournview for over 2 years now and I couldn't have wished to find a better place to work. We have the most amazing residents, families and staff!
Throughout the difficult times we have been going through with the current Covid pandemic our care staff, ancillary and management, including head office have been amazing and have gone above and beyond to protect and look after our wonderful residents. Very very proud of them all and an honour to work here.

Working there is awesome, kitchen staffs, l worked with are fantastic, they made me feel included, get along with them including other staff in the home, Nurses and Carers are all hardworking, work as a team, regardless working for the agency, it's a brilliant place to work. 👌👌👌

Fantastic staff really look after my nan well

Just an observation...not all patients own or have the ability to use a mobile phone...it seems hard to believe that all the phone's here are corded and patients have to be brought from their rooms to take a call .?

Mom has been here for nearly 4 years now, it is a wonderful place for her to live. The care and love she is given every day is nothing short of excellent.

I'm writing this a couple of days after mum passed away at Neville Williams House. She was there for 4 months and I can honestly say that it is the very best of places. Mum managed for a long time in her own home but looking back it would have been much better for her to have been at this wonderful place. Nursing care and general care is second to none. She made new friends and settled in so well with the help of the many caring staff. The whole place feels like a big family. Everyone is welcome no matter what time of day. Simply couldn't be bettered .

What an incredible staff they have here. My nan is a resident here and we are at the end of life stage, every member of staff has been extremely accommodating and we could not ask for anything more as a family. Thank you so much for making such a difficult time that little bit easier. You are all amazing.

My grandad would go there, separated from my nan, in year 1999. While there he would seem upset and withdrawn. There was thieving staff there and staff that hit out at their patients and mocked them. On one of my visits one of the patients was crying (really sobbing) 'they kill you here. They kill you' (her words). A few months later a lady is announced in a death section of a newspaper from this home. Apparently she got a sharp object and stuck it in her mouth to stab the back of her throat. Her family were convinced that on their visits she seemed happy and they believe the home is lying about her cause of death. Months after that, my grandad died from heart failure. The staff lied on the phone saying he was now ok and comfortable. After his death, we find out from our GP practice that the home contacted them to stop his heart medication as apparently 'he no longer needed it' the home told them. Liars! That's why he died in year 2000 just months before my nan died

My nan would go there in year 1999 after having many strokes and being totally dependent on people's care. She wouldn't be fed (food just left in front of her), she would be mishandled (bruises covered her arms and legs) and a lady there died, having kidney failure and the nurses just leaving her to suffer and shouting at her to shut up while she was screaming in severe pain clutching her side and had no family to visit her, apart from nuns. My nan died months later from pneumonia (year 2000). She barely lasted there a year.

My Cousin has been a resident in Sellywood House for almost a year.
During this time the quality of care he has received from all os the staff has been exemplary.
He suffers from extreme dementia and can be very awlward and demanding but, not once has he complained about his care from the nurses and other carers in the home. The improvement in his condition has been phenomenal thanks to the dedication of the staff.
He has been in two other homes before Sellywood House and neither of them could compare favourably in any respect to Sellywood. In the opinion of myself, and the family, this home must be without doubt, the best in Birmingham.
Saying thank you is all we can do and it doesn't seem, adequate for the loving care he has received.
Many thanks to all the Staff on behalf of Bob for the love, care, and devotion that they have given him
no matter how difficult this must have been at times.
{ We would venture to say that, in our opinion, Sellywood is the finest care home in Birmingham
