Reviews

Queen Anne Healthcare has a very good professional and well skilled staff who are very committed to every patient living in their premises. Patients and residents are well fed and always good looking. They welcome visitors very well and give assistance if needed. I recommend you Queen Anne Healthcare in Seattle because they are indeed professionals. My mom is leaving there after her stroke since February 2023 and yet she feels at home. God bless you!

Merrill Gardens at Ballard is the best. Thee food is delicious and all the people are super friendly. My studio apt is cheery and pleasant. Couldn't recommend it more.

Having a family member need to move into a facility because they need more support is such a tough thing to go through. The caring staff at Cogir of Northgate Memory Care really made it a smooth transition. Brandon and his excellent staff made my father and our family feel so welcomed. The communication between the staff and myself made me feel that my dad was cared for and supported with all his needs. I highly recommend Cogir of Northgate Memory Care,

The Merrill Gardens system has been so good to our family. My Mom had an interim stay at Merrill Gardens, Burien. It was terrific, and really helped calm her (and us all!) about how to settle in to life in the independent-living and assisted-living realm.
Mom moved back home for a bit, and then it became clear to us that the best place for her was back in the Merrill Gardens community. As a half-century Ballardite, Merrill Gardens Ballard was the place for Mom. With Mom now being in an assisted-living phase, the team has just been terrific. Welcoming, caring, safe and fun!
Across the board, the Merrill Gardens system (and now MG-Ballard in particular!), has been a critical part of our plan going forward. The team is terrific, and this is the place to be. Cannot say enough good things about it, and we're grateful for this community.

It is all about community at The Hearthstone and not just the Green Lake neighborhood community. While we love living in such a vibrant neighborhood, it is the true sense of community with other residents and staff members that makes The Hearthstone so special.

do not tell them your max budget if you don’t want to be ripped off, they tell the places your budget then those places will up charge you for using a place for mom since they have to pay them and say well they said you can pay X amount … they make finding a place for your loved one like negotiating with a used car dealership. not to mention the phone call i received asking about in home care from them i told them i have no need for that (as my grandma is in a hospice facility) the lady literally laughed then hung up on me. i will never recommend them.

Over 40 minutes for valet. Good foundations but isn't hiring enough support staff.

Terrible company to work with. Very underhanded and hard to get a hold of anyone that can actually do anything when you actually need something. However, if they want money from you they will call you night and day on numbers that you can’t even call back.

Our decision to move to Cove West at the Hearthstone took several years. We were specifically looking for a non-profit CCRC in order to meet any future healthcare needs. The Hearthstone’s well-established reputation stood out as did the Green Lake location, which in our opinion is unmatched in the Seattle area. All of the community's amenities and the newly-built (at the time) Cove West sealed the deal. Last but not least, we have found true community with our neighbors.

We love calling the Hearthstone our home, as does our dog Dosey, who is SO happy living just one block from Green Lake park. Exercise classes and the well-equipped gym keep us physically active. Music trivia and local excursions are fun. The staff supports our daily living with maintenance, cleaning, rides, trips, humor and kindness. We feel lucky to live here.

My grandad spent less than 48 hours at this location. He's almost 90 years old, battling dementia, and shockingly, he managed to slip away from the site without a single soul noticing. He had been transferred there from the hospital, and it's utterly enraging to think that this company accepted him, knowing full well they didn't have the proper security measures in place. They were fully aware that he was a flight risk. Not one person bothered to call his family, and the staff displayed a stunning level of nonchalance and carelessness throughout. The Director, despite numerous calls, never once reached out to us, and the excuse was that she was too "busy." This behavior is not just unacceptable; it's downright outrageous and heartbreaking. The complete lack of empathy and responsibility on the part of this company is beyond infuriating. They need to be shut down immediately.

My aunt was here for a broken hip and thee nurses would bring her cold food also when she pushed the call button no one would come for a hr! This is unbelievable and very unprofessional and neglect to a patient I am a CMA and this was beyond if I could give 0 star I would. What if a patient was too be having a medical emergency they wouldn't even know because they took a hr to attend my aunt... they also said that she was pushing the button to much that is NOT to be Said at all that is your JOB! I am very happy she is no longer there .

My parents moved into Merrill Gardens at Ballard eight months ago but after just five months my mother passed unexpectedly. They both really enjoyed it as a couple, and I am so glad my father was able to be in a place with so much support after my mother's passing. The staff was and are still so incredibly supportive, caring, and the members in the community always invite him to an empty space at their table. My father is very active, my mother was a home body, they both found many activities to keep them engaged, not to mention the amazing people at Merrill Gardens they have met, the careers, the stories, and sharing everyone's life experiences. My dad has made many new friends at Merrill Gardens, and he will be able to share his almost 90th birthday with them this October.

I couldn't say enough good things about Merrill Gardens in Ballard. My mom has been living in the community for about a month. She had been living on her own for decades, but cognitive issues made that situation challenging. I was worried her independent personality would make it difficult for her to feel at home in an assisted living community, but I think it's safe to say she's thriving. She knew it felt right the moment she walked in. This is a good place with good people -- both the staff and the residents. I'm grateful my mom is in their care and company.

Our parents have been living at Merrill Gardens for four years now and we are so grateful! I would highly recommend a visit and tour of the facility when in need of assisted living. The location and facility itself is incredible but what makes Merrill Gardens so special is the staff who take such great care of the residents. Lisa is a tremendous leader and her team truly cares about the residents and their well being. I cannot say enough about how lucky we are to have found Merrill Gardens for our parents and they just love it.

Do not contact A Place For Mom unless you want to be bombarded by cold-calls from all sorts of places around that will likely not even be suitable for the description of care that you provided. If you are looking for assistance, spend a couple hundred bucks to hire a paid consultant to help you.
Update: A Place For Mom still continues to spam and harass me even after getting the Better Business Bureau involved. They previously lied to the BBB about removing my name and contact info from their list.
This company is a bunch of lowlife VULTURES. Darleena Maley is the one I keep responding to to ask my contact info be removed from the list and she has ignored me at every turn.

I found only 2 reviews that were from actual patients and/or their families, which is obviously fake and created by the employees of this facility. All of the other reviews are from employees that work there. My best friend was placed here after a major stroke just last week. So, far this place has been nothing but problems. The people that work here are disrespectful and totally inconsiderate. They speak to each other is some other language in front of their clients and visitors constantly. I believe that to be so incredibly rude. and now, last night when I stopped to see her, I was told by one of the orderlies that my friend "fell out of her wheelchair" and that is why she is covered in bruises. How does one "fall out of their wheelchair" in the first place? and isn't the insurance company paying these people to be my friends "care-givers?" NO care is involved with any of that! How is it that she was left alone and in a wheelchair by herself long enough for her to fall out of a sitting position unsupervised? How is any of that even possible? and how does one get all these bruises "falling" from a sitting position to the floor? That wouldn't be a very far drop at all!
When I asked questions to the staff here, I was disregarded and no one would give me any answers. Wow! Disgusting that people are allowed to treat others this way, especially when they are being paid good money to be "care-giving!"

This is a place where the facilities pay them to refer them to people. The very best places in our area are not on their list. It's like paid advertising. The people you are talking to on the phone are just sales people. They do not check out who they are referring. We ended up with a place near us that was frankly horrible. It looked very good on the surface but did not provide all that they promised. Yet there was another place that wasn't paying A place for Mom to advertise that was much better! The state has a website. This website actually tells you stuff about the place. So I wouldn't trust a referral from A place for Mom.

We have had several clients go to Mirabella for rehab. The staff did a great job. I would highly recommend them. I own an in home care company called Senior Helpers and have not seen this level of attention at other places. nice work!

This can be a wonderful place for many of the residents. Tons of activities, and a sense of community. I would however avoid letting valets touch your vehicle if possible.

A cautionary note based on my mother's experience. She was living at the Hearthstone and developed dementia. Eventually she became combative and had to be hospitalized. The Hearthstone declined to take her back, at any level of care, even after her combativeness was controlled by medication. I had to move her to a different care facility, where she died a month later.
One further tip: if you buy into a CCRC, make sure you understand what happens to your buy-in fee in the event the facility declines to care for you. It came as a shock to me, and added stress to an already stressful time.
By posting this I mean no disrespect to the many dedicated caregivers and congenial residents at the Hearthstone. This was a management decision. Unfortunately, my mom’s choice of the Hearthstone did not turn out well for her.

My 96 year old grandmother stayed here for 5 weeks following a broken hip last year. The nursing staff are amazing, she was very well taken care of and we were able to visit her often. She got 3 hot meals every day and was pretty happy with them. She had PT and OT multiple times per week - both services were great and so effective that she was back on her feet (with a walker) and back home very quickly! Social services and therapy did a great job coordinating her discharge home and making sure that all pharmacy, equipment, and home health needs would be met from the second she went home. I am very grateful to the whole staff for taking such good care of her and helping her recover so quickly. Nobody ever wants to have to stay in a nursing facility, but if you do, this is a great choice.

Amazing place to work where the focus of staff is teamwork to provide the safest and best care for patients. Co-workers feel like a family. The company is always doing something to show appreciation for employees. Queen Anne is always encouraging and supporting staff to continue education and rooting you on along the way.

I am proud to be part of the Queen Anne family. My sister's first job was at Queen Anne and had retired from Queen Anne. I followed suit, started at QA and will retire here. I enjoy my work, started as a receptionist and step up to the business office. Along the way, I have accumulated friends and lots memories. I have a very small family, my sister, my daughter and myself that is why Queen Anne is my family. I know they will always stand by me.

Queen Anne Healthcare is a great place to work! Their patient ratio to staff is GREAT! If you are looking to further your education...THEY ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND ENCOURAGING for you to do so. I have never worked at a place where your patients and staff become a big family! THIS AVAMERE LOCATION IS WHERE YOU WANT TO BE AND NOT FORCED TO BE!!!

I was lucky to find Merrill Gardens at Ballard while searching for a place for my Mother. My Dad had just passed and she had to move all the way from Georgia. Needless to say she was very scared. Everyone at Merrill Gardens made her feel so welcome! They arranged it so that she never had to worry about eating alone, that she would get out of her apartment to join in some of the wonderful events they have planned, and that all her needs were met. The facility is immaculate, the apartments comfortable, and the administrative staff couldn't be more professional, warm, and friendly. All of the staff is incredible and from all over the world making it fun to meet each and everyone of them. My Mother wouldn't be as happy any place else.

The only placed I would have my loved ones that need memory care ,supportive staff lovely environment

Merrill Gardens in Ballard did a super job in welcoming my mom into their community. Particular attention was placed in implementing technology access to her room. Staff helped determine problems and solution to getting her home phone number ready to use, acquiring access to an internet connection, and gaining access to Pac-12 television via Fubo. In addition staff helped program her hand-held tv remote to acquire both cable tv and a Fubo app. It was a technology myriad that my mom would never have been even able to begin interacting with. Kudos, MG staff.

Nice people and lovely residents

I am so thankful for A Place for Mom. I didn't know how to even start my search. As soon as I connected with Dawn, she provided a calm, reassuring voice that I needed. She immediately helped me identify what facilities would fit our needs. Then she handled all of the appointments to setup tours and followed up to see what feedback I gave. She was wonderful. My mother is now in an absolutely fantastic independent living facility and loves it. Before taking the tour, she would not even discuss going to a facility. I thank A Place for Mom for giving us both back a normal life and a much better relationship.

Knowledgeable staff, good location, well kept and cared for

I can not stress enough how much A Place for Mom helped me. My sister and I found ourselves in a panic trying to find a facility for our father who suddenly was no longer able to safely stay in his home. A representative from A Place for Mom literally called me that same night and spent at least 45 minutes helping me. He also continued to check in with me over the next several days after helping me find facilities that would work. I really felt the care and compassion he extended. I would absolutely recommend A Place for Mom, hands down.

I reached out to A Place for Mom as the starting point for transitioning my mom to an independent living facility. She thought it was time. She is 94. Melinda asks what we were interested in and gave us four terrific options to check out. Tomorrow mom moves into Brookdale and cannot be happier with the choice.
Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I emailed Melinda to thank her. As I wrote to her, we really would not have known where to start and A Place for Mom put us miles ahead in finding the right place. Outstanding service!

I had a wonderful experience with A Place For Mom when I had a 2 week dead line to find a "place" for my 100 year old mother. I was very stressed about this, as I wanted to find a place not too far from me. I was contacted right away, and was connected with a sweet lady, Elsy. She was so helpful finding a place only 1.05 miles away. She set up a tour appointment and kept in contact with me. Everything has worked out as well as can be expected with the arrangements. Elsy still keeps in contact with me from time to time to keep in check. I am so grateful to her professionalism and caring manner. She is an asset to the company and would highly recommend "A Place For Mom"

My experience at Mirabella has been wonderful. I have been in this facility now for four months recovering from a bad fracture of my leg. Both in the skilled nursing and on to the assistant care. Everyone from administration to all of the nurses and staff are exceptional. Their professionalism and care is the best. The facility is beautiful and the food is very good, healthy and good choices. They are also very safe with this pandemic we are in, a main reason I chose this facility. I would recommend Mirabella to anyone who is looking for a place for recovery and or a beautiful place for retirement.

I witnessed a labor of love from the staff during my visit at Sunrise Northgate. As a healthcare provider working in this type of community, it was so nice to see staff interacting and making the effort to include residents into their activities.

Such hardworking, caring and dedicated staff. To work in this field is not just a career, it is truly a calling from the heart. These residents at Sunrise of Northgate are truly loved and cared for.

The front desk is rude not professional 04/11

The amenities are lovely the people are very nice here. Make no mistake if you are looking for strictly independent living, this is a first class FIVE STAR Facility. However, Do not choose this facility for your last residence (as the majority may) without a thorough look and tour of the second floor. For short-term rehabilitation purposes it seems to be above board. However, if you’re at the end of your twilight years from a terminal illness or other, you could be disappointed by the care you would expect. Waiting days to see a doctor with multiple reschedules, not delivering medication on time, if at all. Seems under staffed or just lazy? The “nurses” on many instances run like the staff at Home Depot if you have a question or concern. Just our experience with two loved ones. An opinion, nothing more. You will also need to get used to dealing with a very large Somali, most are nice some are very unhelpful, but that is expected to some extent of all people that may be fulfilling such job functions? You must judge as I will not. Many were kinder than the patients other could not have cared less. Take a tour of the second floor is my point in leaving.

My Mom loves living at Merrill Gardens. She's never lived in an apartment but adapted quickly. She enjoys interacting with other residents, eating when she wants, having a daily ice cream, exercise classes, activities, and her room. I've found the management and staff to be professional, responsive and caring. Any questions, concerns or problems we've had have been promptly and courteously addressed. Michael and Marivic have been joy to work with since MG opened in 2016.

Terrible service, I delt with two unprofessional and rude staffs.

They provide free valet parking for guests of residents but there is a decent amount of paid street parking M-S from 8-8 and free on Sunday and Holidays. Be aware the Town car is for residents only and destinations located within a mile of the facility. The dinners I have eaten there with my parents were very good and offered a variety.

I was in the rehab unit. Took 3 hours to get a key to unlock the top drawer of my bedside stand. I had a purse I needed to secure. It took 30 min to an hour to get my call light answered. If i asked about something I was told I will check and they never returned. One night my call light was left on a chair across the room from my bed. My bed had many lumps and bumps. I complained for 4 days. I was told all the mattreesses were the same. All the while my back was hurting more and more. Finally after a general meeting with staff I got a bed in 15 minutes. No activities are provided. The meals were good. Socializing with others patients at meal time was great. This is rated as the best in Seattle. I would hate to see the worst rehab unit.

I worked at the Hearthstone in 1968,1969, waiting on tables. I loved the people who lived there, the people I worked with & Bill Cody, my boss. At that time the people who were there owned their own apt. & they came to the dinning room for their meals. All of the people were nice & caring. I can see by the picture it's grown a lot so I really don't know anything about it in these days. Yeah for the good ole' days!

I recently visited Hearthstone and had a most wonderful experience. The staff is outstanding, the activities for the elders were perfectly suited for them and the location is incredible, right across the street from Green Lake. I just don't think you could have a better environment for your elder to stay.

I've just returned home from five days at the Hearthstone Health Care Center for recuperation of knee replacement surgery. What a wonder! The kind and caring staff offered all I could want during those first few days out of the hospital. The food was great. My Physical Therapist most helpful.
This stay at the Health Care Center was a great experience! I want others to know.

My father has a condo here. Nice staff. Every helper of any kind is helpful. The dining room is great. Also, a bar with full size tables to have dinner and watch games on TV. People who live here seem to be pleased with the Mirabella. Valet parking, larger rooms for special get togethers serving food. Lounges for bridge, puzzles, socializing., beautiful pool, fully equipped workout room, social events, classes. Assisted living floor is great. Takes care of People who are injured, Sick, recovering from strokes, heart attacks, etc. I'm very happy he is here. Also there is a memory care wing.

The Hearthstone is right in the heart of Green Lake, next to the park, with shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and outdoor activities within a short walk. What a perfect place to retire! Plus, it is a Life Plan Community which means that as you age, you will have assisted living and skilled nursing services available. This community has been in Seattle for 50 years, and remains strong in both mission and finances. I have worked for several retirement communities as a consultant and know personally many happy residents that live at the Hearthstone where the staff is engaged and caring. The Hearthstone should be at the top of your retirement options list when you start to visit places..
