Beautiful spot to enjoy some fish and chips. The food was good and there were plenty of options to suit a range of tastes. Seemed to be well organised and although we were there for lunch on a fairly quiet day, I think they could have managed a crowd quite well.
Went here and ordered the reef and surf which clearly says "bugs, prawns, mussels" and somehow you see the picture of what I received: HALF a bug, ONE prawn, ONE mussel and half an octopus. Needless to say I asked the manager if they served me half the meal because their menu didn't match what came out. He basically already knew that there was going to be a complaint and he asked "what did you expect at that price?" We argued that I expected what his menu SAYS.

Anyway he tried to ask "how long are you guys on the gold coast for?" Maybe he was expecting us to be tourists. I am local here and this menu and what they served us were highly disappointing. NEVER go here.

Fish was good, but chips were bland. Would have been nice to have a small salad.

We asked for no cheese, the burger came out with cheese and raw meat on top of that. The Server who serves us was good the other was not as he was on his phone and quiet rude when we first came in. I’d give the 3.5 alone for the server behind the POS system but for the rest of it I’m confidence with one star.

Food was excellent and well seasoned. The serving was massive and tasty! My toddler enjoyed her milkshake 🤭 and her chips( she kept saying YUMMY on every bite and sip). The staff were accommodating and they even shucked fresh oysters for us. Overall, I would definitely recommend and go back here and will bring my in laws to try their food😋

I went there with my friends. The fish and chips were so fresh and crispy:) And the OG burgers were so nice!!! I really want to go there again^_^
food was tasty specially the prawn chowder.. the service was amazing went above and beyond.
I think overall this place is good considering the price. The meals are large and there is a selection of mains that are only $28.50. The oysters were fresh and come out on ice. We enjoyed the kilpatrick oysters, they were only $35 for a dozen.

We had the fresh snapper with chips and veggies. We also had the seafood platter and the five in one which is a great option for a little bit of everything including bugs, oysters, smoked salmon and muscles. The Mediterranean baby octopus was flavoured well. Overall the staff were nice and friendly.

I think the lobster was okay I think the prawn cocktails should come with the sauce on the side not on everything. The bread that comes with the oysters is a little bit odd. The chips with the meals are not the best. The drinks were also a little on the expensive side.

Parking is also not that great, we parked on the main road and walked across.

Overall I’m happy we tried Galaxy for dinner.
Had a fabulous seafood package yesterday! The owner was so lovely and customer service on point! My only advice is bettering your cocktail making and presentation ❤️
This is the kind of place that prioritises quality over quantity, the dishes tasted amazing but the serving size is quite small
Calamari x3
Prawn cocktail x2
A friend & I ordered those 2 entrees to share, while tasting quite good we feel as though quantity wasn’t enough for the price.
The salmon with mashed potato & veges was absolutely amazing! Serving size decent & priced well.
Staff was friendly & helpful.
Definitely worth trying.
We've eaten here twice, once dine in and once take away. Different platter each time and I'm not quite sure where their high rating has come from. Last night we ordered the seafood platter for 4 people with 2 lobsters takeaway, it was barely enough for 3 adults and a 2.5 year old. The bugs were dry and had barely a bite in them, the lobsters mornay were all sauce and cheese, barely any lobster meat. 1 calamari, 2 prawns, 1 very tiny baby octopus per person. The pieces of fish were 1 fillet cut in half to serve 4 people, half a bug each which was tasteless and dry, 2 muscles and 1 scallop (the muscles we're admittadly ok and the marinara sauce half came in qas enjoyable). The majority of the meal was rice and chips to 'fill you up' because the seafood was barely there. Luckily we had purchased this as a Groupon meal for $200, it was supposedly discounted from $600 but the minimal and very dry seafood we got was definitely not worth even the $200.
This is the 2nd time we have been here now and I love it the owners are just lovely. They make you feel like part of the family. We went for my Mums birthday last night and it was great. Can't wait to come back.

The fish burger was so good that we went back a second time to get it again. Firstly, during a time when so many places skimp off in terms of both quality and quantity, it was so good to see somewhere provide good quality fish and of a good serving size too! Plus, the pickles and tartare sauce in there were seriously so good! Would highly recommend

Very good chips served with the cooked seafood. Got two of the sets, which aren't cheap but the quality of the seafood makes up for it, the calamari in particular were very nice. Having this fresh makes a difference and we were fortunate to get one of their benches next to the window in the seating area which also had ceiling fans to keep the place feeling cool even on a sunny day.
On arrival met with a smiling face. The host suggestions were gladly accepted and we enjoyed every dish. Each meal cooked to perfection and felt the servings were quite a generous size. We were waited on courteously and promptly and cannot wait to return. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Just have to add, the Seafood Chowder was divine, that dish alone I would make a return for.

Great place to share your favourite seafood with friends and/or family.
I personally went for the classic Crumbed Cod and Chips and wasn't disappointed at all.
Golden Crumbed and just a nice serving of chips. Cod was moist and filled with flavour.
Mightn't be a big thing, but I liked how customers were able to choose/add Chicken Salt to their own meals.
The decor and settings was pleasant with nice ambient music that filled the eating area (inside) nicely.
The ordering staff were very helpful, friendly with HUGE smailes and advised/suggested what was good to have or what the recommendation was for the day.
The seating was clean and inviting and the odd wandering seagull through the cafe, really added to the, 'by the sea' vibe.
It is wheelchair friendly and the cafe has a side (smaller cafe) area that caters for your more general 'short order' meals.
There is fresh seafood section to invest in, if you want as well.
Toilets are just around the corner from the cafe, which seem to be public and cater for all that visit the local water park nearby.
If your after a well priced and casual dining experience on the Broadwater, then give The Fish Shack a try, you won't be disappointed.
