We go to Ocean Basket quite often. But today the fish & salad was particularly nice. Gosh !!! So flavourful & calamari strips divine. Plus the new OB wet wipes smell fantastic 🙌🏼. Waiter Freddy was excellent 👌

We loved this restaurant! We were wandering around the V & A & decided to go in for dinner - so happy we did! The food was amazing - lots to choose from and the service was impeccable. One of our top 3 meals in South Africa.

The atmosphere and taste of the restaurant were good. It was nice that the waiter was also very attentive. However, when I tried to pay with my card, it told me to go to an ATM and withdraw cash. They say I can pay with a credit card, but I don't understand why they ask me to withdraw cash, which makes me angry. ATM withdrawal fees were high and no change was provided.

Located right next to the water on the waterfront, the main dining area has a large window looking out into the harbor. Overall, the food was great and the sushi was especially terrific fish was fresh and very tasty. Cooked options also great although the beef was average. Portions good and the starter ceviche was awesome. The restaurant was very loud during dinner. Lots of loud talking and sometime very hard to even hear yourself think. Prices relative to US standards very cheap.

Met up with a buddy after work for supper.

We both had the special with the calamari hake and prawns. The prawns were the perfect firmness, the calamari was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the hake was nice and flakey. Would have loved an unhealthy dose of garlic lemon butter but alas, it was not meant to be. My arteries got a rest night.

If you wanna have a Lonely Island moment you can sit on the "boat" like we did.

Lovely place, lots of promise. Photos on website promised fantastic creative food and for the price we also expected it. Although the quality of the food was good, it was very ordinary, I cook better at home during the week. The steak tasted great but it was just a smallish slab of meat on a plate (with a few boiled potatoes) Nothing special about it at all, same for all other courses. Real disappointment so totally not worth the price.

I haven't been to Sevruga since before Covid, and for years, this had been one of my favorite places to go for sushi and cocktails. We didn't have a reservation, and several tables inside the restaurant were available (Sunday midday). However, by the time we left, there wasn't a table free. They've had a beautiful revamp since I've last been. My husband and I shared the mussel starter - absolutely delicious! I had the Poke Bowl, which was perfect - nice portion - and of course, all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the seafood linguine! It's still a restaurant I'd highly recommend to anyone asking!

A very beautiful restaurant at the V&A. Had a three course meal and I will not ever forget how amazing their Gnocchi starter tasted! I also had their steak with bone marrow as a main and the lemon cheesecake for dessert which was also exceptional. Can’t wait to come back for the Gnocchi and half price sushi!

They have the best sea food and the prices are very affordable. The quantity of the food is amazing. They still offer the little starter bread. The food was delicious and the waitress was amazing

Food was well prepared. Though its a pity my first bite had like 11 fish bones. That made the experience slightly unenjoyable. The atmosphere made it hard to enjoy the evening. The music was barely noticeable and the dude in the kitchen was VERY overzealous in his duties with the klokie. Someone at the sushi bar seemed upset to be there as he was banging away the entire evening. Our waiter made ordering drinks very awkward as "we don't have any appetizer sorry" the one moment and then " there's not grapetizer either so someone is going to get appletizer" and then "after the drink was opened at the table, we were hit with "it's still hot is that okay?" Kinda late for that isn't it? No serviettes on the table and it was hard to find our waiter to ask for service. The Canal walk branch really isn't a vibe and if I ever support ocean basket again, it would be at the paddocks.

Good fresh and tasty seafood. Staff on the ball. Food arrived quickly and was hot. The platter for 2 was very nice, portion was not bad. The ordering system rang and rang for 10 minutes as it's in the main restaurant for some reason. It was like the staff had become deaf to the sound. Other than that, it was fabulous.

Updated review as I came back here to eat in the evening - 5 stars as the place was fantastic inside with plenty of seating and a great menu. Calamari excellent, Mozambique prawns excellent, crème brûlée pretty good. Can highly recommend

Really great seafood! I had the mixed poke bowl and it was delicious! Great combination of items and seafood (salmon, tuna, and prawns). They also had a sushi conveyer belt which I plan to come back and try. The quality of food was great and everything was delicious! They also had open balcony seating with a view of the water front.

Would definitely recommend this place! Friendly and welcoming staff too with great service.

First time trying the Ocean Basket in Century City, and I was not disappointed :)
Really excellent Hake (two pieces) and six well prepared prawns !!! The chips could have been crisper, but I enjoyed them nevertheless :)

Hi, so me and my family had dinner at Grandwest branch Wow what a disappointment.. Firstly we eat at Waterfront Capetown fishmarket frequently their food is absolutely Amazing the Chilli popper the best. We thought we would order the same dish at Granwest. The poppers was bland with no taste and hardly any cheese in the filling the batter was very hard as if over fried the worst I've had. My husband had a Tomahawk OMW this was a 600g however it seemed as if it was cut in half very thin slice and looked like a normal steak. We did not enjoy our dinner at all. I would recommend Waterfront Fish Market to anyone service and food there is top Notch.

I had lunch at this establishment yesterday I had oysters for starters and I was flabbergasted by the mignonette sauce they served me, it literally had two tiny pieces of shallots!! I was looking forward to having a lovely lunch before my flight to Johannesburg and to say I was disappointed would be a total understatement.

Netter Service, mussten aber auch recht lange auf unser Essen warte.

We arrived and were seated but nobody came to the table for 10 minutes. I had to go find the manager to ask for assistance. Nick the manager helped us after I mentioned my discontent. He actually served the table. Not sure how that affected his cover of the restaurant other patrons but appreciated his intentions. The restaurant was warm and uncomfortable so we moved to the false grass area which had open windows and air.

Sushi platters were good and was great to have specials on it for Tuesday's 25% off on tge better selection of sushi. Makes a difference to the overall price.

Starting off with the
ambience- incredibly loud and stacked with people. The restaurant itself was beautiful and had a lovely aesthetic but thats about where it ends. As mentioned the restaurant was packed with people (exceptionally loud people). Tied in with our table for two that made it feel like i was miles away from my partner- we could hardly hear each other.

We waited an hour and a half to order our food. We understand that they were busy, but waiting that long is ridiculous. We hardly saw our waiter and people who sat after us got their food before us.

I will mention that the managers were very friendly and accommodating.

Now the food- for a high-end restaurant the food was surprisingly disappointing. That's sugar coating it- it was the worse food we have ever eaten at a restaurant. The sushi quality itself was fine, but the flavour was disgusting and just so disappointing. The calamari was okay- it tasted very oily and lacked flavour. They also forgot our order of chips with the calamari. The drinks were okay- nothing special. After we were seated we only received our food after 2 hours, we ate for 20 minutes and decided that we were going to leave because we had wasted our time. We did not finish our food and while we both do not enjoying wasting our food, we didn't even take all of our leftovers home because we knew no one was going to eat it.

The bill was well over R900 and for the quality and taste of the food, it was a complete waste of money.

They did offer us a free dessert to compensate for our experience. After 3 times of declining it and insisting we would rather leave, we accepted the dessert and even that was just okay. Absolutely nothing special. I believe people often mistake richness for loudness, and this was definitely the case. The restaurant puts on more of a show than offering food worth tasting.

Great experience, the food was fast and awesome. The service was good, I will be back.

Sweet and short, i took my partner to cape town fish market for a birth day dinner, on our arrival we stood at the door with out any one helping us, although there were 3 people behind the cash desk and i think one of them was a manager. a other person came from across the dining area to seat, we were seated at the back in the corner , the waiter gave us the menu and we orderd a glass of red wine, and kwv and coke.. we waited about 15 min for our drinks, yet the shop is not busy .. the waiter then came and took our meal order and we have decided to go with the prawn/hake and calamari platter for two.. the waiter explain that it comes with rice.and i then order exstra chips, we waited about 30 min for the food, when the food was deliverd to our table, i was shocked to see the little bit of calamari maybe 50grams , and the chips looked so old and dry, not to talk about the prawns. i then called the waiter over and asked for the manager , she then said she bring exstra chips and fixed the portion of calamari, then the waiter bring chips, as well not even 80g , and also looked old dry.. still we havent start to eat cause we are waiting for the calamari, when the calamari came, the manager put it on the table, not saying any thing and left, by now there was a big table that just came in and sat down next to us. ..
so i put the exstra calamari on the platter plate , as i start to dish up for my self i took a piece of calamari as i bite into it it was still very very raw, and i told my partner stop dont dish, the table next to us asked me whats wrong and i show them the raw calamari, i called the manager over, she cam but you can see she was not in the mood to assist us, she stood there and i show her, she had no words to say, maybe she was tiered or some thing.. the table next to us stood up and left the shop. the manager turned around and said some thing but i could not hear what she said. so we sat for about another 10 min with no one coming to our table, so i stood up walked over to the cash desk and asked can i please get my bill, the waiter then said " do you want a doggy bag : keep in mind we have not eaten any food yet. so the bill was given to us , with the meal still on it, and i said why must i pay for food i didnt even eat at all, waiter took the bill out of my hands and said okay will tell the manager, we end up paying for our drinks, and left,,, i will never never go to cape town fish market in Grand west ever again,, its not that i want any freebies, i just want to get what i paid for.... maybe you guys dont care about customers and there experience, but this was just so so so bad.

Very nice restaurant, with nice staff and friendly service. Delicious meat, carpacho . Good assortment of alcohol and wines. Nice interior. A place I would like to come back to.

Our favorite outdoor restaurant! Lovely leafy shade, bubbly fountain, excellently prepared foods. Attentive service in a relaxed setting.

What a wonderful Christmas lunch! From seamless booking via Dineplan to arriving at a magnificent setting in the courtyard to excellent service and a memorable, sublime Christmas menu offering. Divine grilled halloumi and calamari, Greek lamb and potatoes (which were the star course) and we ended off with Baklava and ice cream. Bliss. There were other choices but we all seemed to go for the lamb as a main. Thank you The Greek Fisherman. Going out on Christmas Day for lunch is usually hit and miss but not in this case.

I forgot I was in a restaurant and ate like ow as alone at home 😂😂😂😂 what a wonderful presentation. The food was outstanding, mussels, shrimp, 🦐 and fish 🐟 of the day in a creamy white wine sauce accompanied by glass of Sauvignon Blanc, delicious

All the flattery aside. The chef is a show stopper himself. Food is well presented, proper portions and incredibly tasty. It’s not cheap but it’s great value for money all things considered. The surrounding area is nice for a meander too. Exquisite venue and surrounds. Must book. Will be back.

The interior of the restaurant was very spacious and comfortable.
The flavors of the dishes were good, but some portions were small, which was a bit disappointing.

Located in a very prime spot inside V&A Waterfront. I wasn't impressed with the food, drinks and their pricing. We had the set menu for our corporate dinner. While the Calamari was good. The fish lacked any taste and was served with a dry mash. Although the place wasn't completely full, noticed few hiccups in the service including wrong items. Looking at the service and taste, food and drinks both felt overpriced.

We had mid-week lunch here with friends. Very nice atmosphere, sitting outside in the courtyard under umbrellas. The food was great but the service was very very slow. Our wine glasses were empty and it was impossible to get hold of another bottle ! The food took ages too but when it came it was good. Try the fried calamari, the sole and the lambshank. Yum !

Nice place, good ambiance and good food. The waiters were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the grilled kingklip. The food was good but the meal could have taken more sauce, 1- because the sauce is delicious and 2- because the fish itself doesn’t have much taste.

Well placed corner Main Road and the Beach at Seapoint, very friendly staff, reasonable prices , we have been very happy and satisfied with our dishes .

All aspects were excellent, just as the high ratings suggest.
While the outdoor dining in the garden seemed delightful, we chose to dine indoors.
The young male waiter was kind and exceptionally polite. He provided detailed explanations of the menu and took care of every detail, for which we are grateful.
I ordered appetizers, soup, and a main course. The portions were larger than I had imagined, and I ended up eating too much. There were many other enticing items on the menu, so I look forward to visiting again.

Excellent fine dining experience in a nice country-Style house restaurant. Great selection of regional wines, excellent food and attentive service.

We had a great birthday dinner celebration. It had all the potential to deliver the best ever. I think certain dishes are to die for (must try steak Florentine) but unfortunately the winter set menu that I tried wasn’t so great. Example, it’s beautiful artichoke season and it’s a shame that they used tinned artichoke as a starter dish. Their carpaccio is cured ham or similar. To be fair I think it’s tough to run a profitable restaurant at the moment and their service was impeccable. I just wish their menu isn’t a hit and miss.

Lovely food and great service at the Greek fisherman. Fancied something different to steak and the fish was fantastic here. Catered for allergies very well. Our waiter Luke talked us through the gluten free options in great detail and generally very helpful. Nice relaxed vibe in the restaurant. Would recommend.

Celebrated an anniversary with a dinner here recently and was left feeling very pleased with our experience. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout the evening and the slow evening meant we had no noise in the library area where we were seated.

The food is well priced and is made fresh. We ordered the calamari starter and the carbonara + lasagne for mains. All the food was amazing but we felt the carbonara could’ve been a little bit tastier.

We were treated to a surprise cake for dessert!

Overall we had a great time and would recommended this place to anyone else looking for an upmarket yet affordable meal out!

Ordered the lunch box meal and to my surprise it was very filling. The service was great and food was so tasty yum. Ocean Basket’s sauce never disappoints.

Very friendly service. Sushi platter and prawns an calamari, they do give very little calamari strips which was delicious, nice an light coating. Prawns very tasteless we had to ask for lemon butter sauce no seasoning on it at all . We made a reservation in advance as it usually gets very full .

Their medium prawns were really fresh and tasty. The salmon hand roll was 50% off on Tuesday and the portion was good. Salmon was fresh and the Rainbow Reloaded was delicious.

Only thing we didn't enjoy was the Prawn and avo salad. It was missing some lettuce to bring in some more crisp and freshness. They didn't hold back with the avo portion though, and the steamed prawns were tender and slightly sweet.

Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The vibe was inviting and we will definitely come back again.

Very Welcoming atmosphere, hostess invited me in and she was very accommodating. My waiter, James provided fantastic service, with that added personal touch which was so impressive and I was made to feel like a VIP. The only let down was the food, the prawn tacos, were a bit bland and offered not much taste. The ribs were not tender at all which is the most important criteria for me. In terms of affordability, a little pricey.

Beautiful views from the restaurant, even at night. Friendly staff. The seafood platter I ordered was dry. The presentation was not appetizing. Everything was just cramped into one small plate. I enjoyed the wine more than the food. My cousin ordered steak, and it was very delicious.

My brother and I ordered steaks. Mine was overcooked. His was raw.
Only after we sent it back, they got it right.

The food was delicious but we were disappointed because of the time and effort wasted with the initial dishes.

We love the V&A branch and they set the standard of service, so we expected the same.

The waitress didn't even acknowledge or apologise for the poor service.

I went with my family for a pre Father’s Day dinner. The service was good. The place was buzzing. Waiters were quick and food didn’t take long to come out. Sushi was freshly prepared and platter was nicely spiced with Cajun. Overall we had a great time. Love the new look of the place it almost has the feel your on a ship with the ropes used
