Teachers are not trained properly. During school fights they let the kids solve everything theirselves. Almost all the teachers bully their own students and students are left powerless. Don't go here!

This school board understaffs schools with things like not enough course slots being a thing. E.g. if there are 80 students who need physics they will only make 2 courses of 30 slots, cutting off the 20 who also need the course.

Don't get me wrong, some of the teachers there are really good. Their lessons are captivating (enough) to wanna get good marks on whatever subject they are teaching. The way they teach doesn't feel rushed or forced or slowed down by less than competent students. These are the teachers that make school about Learning instead of Memorize, Restate, Forget, Repeat. However, there is bound to be at least one awful "educator". Those teachers are just a bunch of lectures and regurgitating what little you understand on some exam paper (a.k.a. English classes). These teachers are the worst in terms of teaching quality. Seemingly forced lessons, mandated test times and a lack of learning. Anyways this school board is filled with the latter and is lacking the former.

Shameful that they allowed grown adults to bully, harras and intimidate students trying to express their rights to exits. Shameful anti catholic behaviour. Your job is to protect kids not drive them closer to suicide and negative mental health outcomes. Shame on you

I am disgusted by your decision to not fly the Pride Flag at your schools. There is nothing Christian about this decision. Christ was always inclusive in his teachings , especially as regards to children.
We should not have a Separate School Board - it only causes division in our society.

Board Trustees don't contact you back even though they are elected by municipal elections, therefore not accountable to the constituents.
Board Trustees don't believe in inclusion and discriminate.

Trustees communicate effectively with parents and are available to answers questions often.

i have so many problems. the teachers are mean, and why cant i leave a review on my school account?????????????? why do they make us go outside when its snowing or raining, and why the heck do they block LITTERALLY EVERYTHING??? they dont trust us kids either. the music teacher litterally called us brats. also, the profile pics! our choices are, our face, a silhouette of us, or our initials! what a wide variety of choices! and they blocked games too. discord, chat, bye bye! and they want us to make friends. WO-DY. also, can yrdsb give us some working internet??? i bet they have perfect internet.

School board does nothing to prevent the constant issues of misbehaving students, horrible teachers, and discrimination. The board meeting recently is an amazing example of how this school board does nothing to keep minorities safe. DO NOT enroll your kids in any school under this board unless you want them to end up with severe mental issues.

I don't want to make this TOO long to upset Google's internal character limit (if there ever was one). But first off, profile pictures. Of course, the reason was good, but you could literally just suspend the profile pictures for one student. And I forgot to mention that you could just tell students to use Report It to allow students to report anything bad they see from another student. Similar case scenario with Google Chat. You taught us how to be "safe" but nothing yet. Gave us a brief opportunity, not enough. Whoever told you to make all these frickin ideas, fire them now.

Unfortunately YCDSB has taken on the new normal. What is the new normal in publicly funded education? No accountability, entitlement and a caustic environment where students are the last on the list of priorities and faculty, maintenance facilities right up to the head of education are more concerned with do as little as possible with an extremely bloated compensation package. Should ashamed of yourselves. No surprise that most of the reviews are 1 star. To give it some context I have spoken to a number of custodial staff who are verbally abused on a daily basis from staff. It's sad that this type of behaviour is common place in education today. It's amazing the entitled behaviour from staff, faculty right up to procurement departments and head of education, especially for a board that has links to some of the darkest periods in educational history in Canada. It's a deplorable environment. I would encourage parents to seek alternative eduction choices for your children.

I just came here to convey my message to the authorities of board but saw the reviews so thought to give mine. I have been here since 6 years and I haven't noticed any of school here in York region offers extra curricular activities or sports or any field trips etc. Children's feels alot of pressure and frustration with the same routine every single day. In many institutions sports or extra curricular activities have been arranged so that the students would take an interest to go to school. In TDSB my kids had participated in many activities like chess,basket ball and tennis but here in YRDSB school nothing happens like that. I every day convinced my grade 7 boy to go to his school he doesn't want to go he feel bored and exhausted in his school. Schools must offer mental and physical games for students for their mental and physical well-being otherwise they will feel forced to come to school just only for boring classes.
