Paola took care of our son from when he was about four months old until he was close to two years old and we moved to a different neighborhood. Our experience with the intimate, familiar, loving care offered by Paola and her staff was an extraordinarily positive one. We received detailed daily reports, his development was excellent, the food is extremely healthy, and he loved going every day.
I am absolutely relieved to find out that I am not the only one who has had an issue with the front desk staff. literally every bad review on here has nothing to do with the gym itself which is really nice it’s the front desk staff that are rude and incompetent. In fact they are continuously trying to charge me when I already quit the gym. They will not answer any emails that I sent to them. Clearly it is an issue with the upper management. It’s quite obvious they are emotional and have issues from the past and are trying to take it out on people. Pretty embarrassing if you ask me. The first day I came in to ask for a membership; there was a black lady who was very rude even when I tried to be as kind as possible. Anyways, like I stated earlier, I am relieved to find out that there have been other people who have had issues with the front desk and it’s not just me thinking I did something wrong.
I called this place TWICE to ask about membership pricing and their Jan promotion. Receptionist picks up the call forwards me further to membership person where I left voice message twice. You can terminate that position without hesitation for being useless
Althought at the begining really liked me..then i started to notice that they never clean around the machines..is very dusty. The steam room is always with a lot of problem. Never works and the hair dryer it doesnt work either. You can spend 30 min trying to dry your hair. Also in some showers light doesnt work either and usually the steam room is also dirty.
The good thing is that they have variety of machines and the place is nice.
This Y is superior to many. The interior decor is posh. Plenty of equipment, all up to date. There was no wait for machines. The pool is gorgeous and clean. The women's locker room is done up in expensive finishes and feels like a four star hotel spa. Lots of showers, lockers, and even warm towels. Each locker room area is small and has a semi-private feeling. The facility is well maintained and the staff is friendly.
Our son has been at PPC since it opened almost 3 years ago and we are about to send our second there. We couldn’t love the daycare more. Each age group they do fun and engaging activities and are so caring with them. Every morning my son happily runs in and talks about his fun day when we pick him up. The staff is also very communicative and find creative ways to involve the parents throughout the year.
I have used this gym over the past two years while visiting the DC area. It is a nice extension of my nationwide membership from another city. The facility itself is really neat and I enjoy the equipment they have, plus the swimming pool and punching bag.

Most of the staff has been pleasant to engage with. However, there is one woman that works the front desk, and has over the past two years, that is uncomfortable to be in the presence of, and is, unfortunately, unavoidable. My experience has been such that, she seems to intentionally attempt to create a conflicting dynamic as often as possible, and, in my case, for something as simple as checking in to the gym from out-of-town. Treating customers consistently as an emotional punching bag is enough for me to go elsewhere to workout. Guessing that since she still works there, and given that this seems to be a common experience in other reviews, this is most likely a reflection of upper management.

Wish you all would have healthier standards, especially for a gym.
Great experience, and the staff is very helpful. Clean spaces, good equipment and nice pool. Convenient hours.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this center. My son has been attending since 2021 and learns so much! The social, emotional and intellectual curriculum (yes for a toddler) is well rounded and high quality. The staff is incredibly professional, kind, and energetic. Highly recommended !
My son is attending this center since 2021 and we love everything about our experience. Greater teachers, great managers, and fun activities for the little ones. This center is a true blessing for us and we know that our son is getting great care here.
For 80 dollars a month you’d think the first desk staff would be a lot friendlier. They are quite condescending and unwelcoming to guest. It also always smells like a mix of tacos and sweaty feet in the main lobby. They also LOVE to rush you out the gym during closing. They even turned the lights off in the whole gym before I could collect my things out the locker room. Super unprofessional and impatient front desk staff. Trainers and other employees are always nice tho.

If I could rate Discover Fun Camp 6 out of 5 stars I would! Raven, Ms. Whitley and her crew of absolutely stellar counselors are a rare blend of loving, flexible, and creative, and their camp experience was an absolute joy for our little man who had just turned 4.
There are many camps throughout DC and many parents would have you believe that one needs to spend an astronomical amount of money in order for your child to have fun and receive loving care, but this is simply not so with Discover Fun. Our son had an absolute blast and we found their rates extremely reasonable.
In addition to a nice facility and thoughtful, caring staff, Discover Fun keeps an excellent program every week including a weekly field trip, weekly field day and weekly wet day at a local splash pad/pool. In addition to making wonderful friends while there, our son had so many new experiences, so much so that he was begging to keep going back to camp and not back to school in the fall!
Thank you so much to Raven and the whole team - we will see you next summer for sure :)

So thankful I discovered this camp!
My son truly enjoyed his summer experience here.
The camp facilitators send a weekly newsletter (email) each week highlighting what fun activities/field trips the campers will participate in for the week.
100% will recommend, and will definitely enroll my son next summer!
Thank you for all that you do and for curating such an amazing summer camp experience for the kids. 😊

We truly appreciate the existence of an affordable and fun childcare program as Discover Fun. Miss Raven is the soul of that place and she is loving and very knowledgeable. We sent our son in the aftercare program and he had a lot of fun. Overall we are more than happy with the experience.

My kids are loving discover fun camp! Raven and her team have been wonderful.
We love DFC, we used them for summer camp and our son enjoys it! The staff are amazing and we love the activities that are planned for the kids. We will be using them during the school year as well.
Words can’t describe how appreciative I am of the Britleys. We moved from LA to DC and our daughter began to attend the Britleys at 1 year old. She is now 2 years old and sings songs and counts in Spanish and Mandarin. They frequently visit museums and have a wonderful curriculum! She has built great friendships and loves her teachers. We are so grateful for the impacts on her cognitive, social, and emotional development! Thank you to all the amazing teachers at the Britleys!!
Ms. Raven’s camp is loads of fun! She sets the tone with a warm relationship with the kids and super creative activities. She has created a true community!
My 3 year old frequently shares "I love my school". Thank you to the director and staff for taking such good care of my daughter! And for nurturing her love of learning (en espanol)!
We love Peaceful Play Center! We cannot say enough good things about this wonderful daycare. We had already gone through two other daycares in the area and when we enrolled with PPC we knew from the beginning that the third time was going to be a charm. The director, Bethsy, is wonderful! And, so are all of the teachers! Our son loves going every morning to "school." He's so happy when we drop him off waving, smiling, and hugging Bethsy or any teacher that comes to the door that greets us. And, he has the same demeanor when we pick him up too. He loves his teacher Ms. Diana. It's a really good feeling knowing that you're dropping your child off at a safe, warm, and happy environment. His Spanish is also coming along pretty well, which we are ecstatic about (PCC is a full Spanish immersion daycare). Bethsy and all of her amazing staff are absolutely caring, inclusive, and consistent. We highly recommend this daycare to anyone and have been telling our friends with kids about them. I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could.
This is a wonderful daycare with attentive, caring staff, all of whom our two-year-old adores. She also now speaks Spanish, which is a wonderful addition to the great care she receives.

Raven is such an awesome educator. She is very hands on with the children, and teaches them so many things. My daughter comes homes everyday explaining things that she learned. We would recommend this summer camp, and plan to send her back next year.
We couldn't be more pleased with the care our child receives at Peaceful Play. They are loving and we know our child is safe and in good hands. We've been at multiple daycares and the care our child receives is exceptional. Our daughter is excited to go every day and I know they have a ton of fun while learning a lot. Highly recommend!
Beautiful YMCA neatly tucked in the heart of DC. Awesome Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and Cybex equipment, a rock wall, swimming pool and friendly staff and trainers. Parking isn’t too bad considering the area and there is a garage around the corner . Highly recommended!

Raven has been a godsend to our family for the past two plus years. I trust her implicitly. She loves children and they love her. I am happy she is persisting with childcare and enrichment because this is so needed.
Peaceful Play Center is an amazing bilingual/Spanish immersion daycare. They have a thoughtful curriculum involving group and individual learning and play and take the children outdoors every day, weather permitting. They provide home-cooked and healthy breakfast, lunch and snack. The staff is very open and communicative and does an excellent job keeping parents up to date about changes at the center and about their individual children. The staff are always friendly and loving with the children and the hours of operation are excellent. I feel very lucky to have found this daycare and our daughter could not be happier when she arrives every morning.
Enrolled our kids in August 2021. Brand-new facility. The owners and teachers are fantastic. It's a Spanish immersion program. Food is provided. Great hours. Love to see my toddler singing in Spanish after just a few months. She is excited to go to daycare every day! Our infant is also enrolled and they have a separate room for the babies. Really really happy with this place.

Our 4yr old son went here when the schools were closed due to covid. They seemed to have a good curriculum, and an app for you to contact the teachers. My son especially liked the yoga they did. I would have went back for the summer session, but we moved!
I can't recommend Paola enough. Our son is so happy in her care and she's especially helpful to me as a new parent. To any prospective parents looking for daycare - please disregard the couple of phony, low reviews that somehow made their way here!
Paola is an incredibly nurturing, diligent, and professional caretaker. Our son couldn't be happier at her daycare and neither could we. Starting him at daycare during a pandemic was a scary step but I am so grateful knowing that he is safe, learning, and so well cared for. It's been amazing to see how much he's learned from Paola, whom he absolutely adores, and as a new parent I've learned a thing or two myself!

Paola's COVID precautions are stringent, and the small community of families who are part of this daycare "bubble" are in regular communication about travel, work, testing, etc. as we all navigate this tricky time together. I can't recommend Washington Family Child Development Home highly enough.
Maria Paola and her childcare center have been a godsend. My husband and I have been clients of Washington Family Child Development Home for more than 6 months now. We are so grateful for Paola's care of our infant son, which has been nurturing and professional. We have also been quite pleased with her safety precautions during COVID, which are myriad. If you're looking for a home-based center with nurturing caregivers, this is the spot.

I am saddened to see the recent negative reviews of her daycare, because it is clear that they are not parents of children who currently attend. The families of Paola's daycare are in constant communication with each other because of COVID-19 precautions (we are aware of each others' travel, work situations, frequent testings etc). I am certain that the two negative reviews below do not belong to current families.

Thanks for everything you do for us, Paola!
Echoing Christopher's review below. Paola does an excellent job. Our daughter has been at Paola's for 2.5 years and all the parents of children at Paolo's know each other. We can confirm that Beth & Sean (reviews below) DO NOT have children that go here (and have not for at least the past 2.5 years). Not sure why they are posting reviews here - their reviews are inaccurate.
Paola is AMAZING. Our first child went there when she first opened and daughter is there now. Our son loves her and still wants to go see her. When we had our second child it was no question as to where we would send her. Paola and the families that send their kids there are a wonderful little community of loving families. I cannot recommend her enough.

Also, regarding the negative reviews. I believe they are false or perhaps for the wrong daycare... We've known every family that has sent their child there since she opened and the negative reviews below must be for a different daycare. We don't know those families...

I can't imagine a more caring staff to take care of my son. Maria Paula and the other folks here are the best and they're extremely diligent about following strict COVID-19 protocols. Fantastic child care option for folks in NW DC! :)
We are a military family that moved to DC from Philadelphia in the middle of the Spring. We were very fortunate to find a spot for our then 1 year old at The Britleys For Toddlers. Not only did they provide love and care, they nurtured his inquisitive nature, and continued to build upon a solid foundation for his future education. Gloria is responsive and engaging. It is evident that she and the members of her team truly enjoy teaching and caring for the students under their care.
The Britleys is a wonderful first 'school' experience for toddlers and parents. My daughter started just over a year of age as one of the youngest kids and really blossomed under the loving care of Gloria and her staff of teachers. They plan engaging activities and lessons and obviously really care about your kids, which is a huge relief for parents. They have great hours and are very good at giving each child what they need.
I cannot say enough good things about the Britleys! Gloria and her staff are amazing with our son! We moved from Atlanta and they made the whole process seamless. Our son has flourished in their care. I trust everyone at the school completely with my son everyday! My son is excited every morning to go to school!
Our nearly two-year-old daughter started at Britleys within the past few months, and we couldn't be happier with her experience so far. We were originally apprehensive about sending our daughter to a daycare, but our time with Britleys has assuaged any concerns we might have had. The teachers who work there are extremely well qualified and do an amazing job with the children, and there's also a very good teacher-to-child ratio. The result is that we have seen our daughter's rate of learning increase dramatically since we started at Britleys. For example, for storytime she now likes to make us sit down while she "reads" stories to us, points out pictures, and counts things on the page. The kids also learn some Mandarin and Spanish, which is especially fun for us because some family members are Mandarin speakers. One of the coolest things Britleys does are frequent parties, where the kids dress up and celebrate holidays with special meals and activities. We love getting the pictures afterwards, which are always adorable, hilarious, or both. Finally, I should mention the owner of Britleys, Gloria. She does a fantastic job of communicating with parents about how the kids are doing, which has made it so much easier to drop our daughter off with strangers for the first time. In summary, we couldn't recommend Britleys enough!
I can’t say enough good things about the Britleys! My daughter has been there for five months and has truly blossomed in that short time. She’s gained independence and life skills that I didn’t think were possible at her age. She is so excited to go to school and learn. Ms. Gloria and the teachers are wonderful and truly care about each child’s growth. I highly recommend The Britleys!
My wife and I are very happy with Britleys. Our son has been attending this daycare for about 8 months now and has flourished immensely through Britley's meticulous curriculum. The teachers are very friendly and attentive. The program director, Gloria, has been incredibly responsive and flexible with all of our needs and special requests for our son.
I don't even know where to start...our family relocated to the DC area from the Bay Area a few weeks ago. As with any big move, there are lots of things to worry about, but we were most worried about finding a new school for our 2 year-old daughter. She absolutely loved her old school, and it seemed impossible to find something that could compare. But then comes Miss Gloria and her amazing team at Britleys! I knew from the moment I spoke to her on the phone, that we would be in good hands. And my daughter warmed up to her right away as well. She has LOVED every day and talks about going to school each day. She loves the field trips and fun activities they do each day. We could not be any happier with how wonderful The Britleys for Toddlers has been!

Their Infant care is horrible. We had to wait for over 5 months to get in, but we had to switch daycare within 3 months. Please don't send your babies here. Trust me, you'll regret it just like us!
