A wonderful place in Greenwich Village. Caring, generous staff and volunteers prepare meals every Saturday for those who choose to come.
Went twice. Website states come 9 to 4 any day Monday to Saturday those hours to get emergency food and signed up for the online thing. Both times got told they weren't open at 130pm. And to come back another day.. waste of time and bus fares.
To live in New York is to understand that sometimes we have to face insecurities as a whole in order for us to move forward. I'm grateful for the day that I was able to walk into this pantry, and experience respect and understanding that everyone is going through something. It never hurts to ask for help, because sometimes that's the key to changing your situation. Asking for assistance and getting over the hump of the insecurities and whatever emotion that might be dealing with internally. I picked up the blessing in what appears to be a long standing hard times, that seems to be hitting harder than ever here lately, but whatever the case NY Common Pantry is here for me and so many others.

Asking for help is universal, so don't be afraid after you ask you will hopefully see a weight totally lifted off your shoulders.
Everyone is chill and everything but every staff member have their line so it goes automatically to voice mail.
This is a problem cause they have a homeless program and you need to leave a number to them to call you back, most homeless people don't even have phones, how they expect to receive a call back.
6+ years volunteering with the Saturday regulars, NYCP feeds hundreds of families on top of 250+ brown bag lunches and that's just one day. Great opportunity to make a difference.

Tuesday 6/6/23 the following issues need to reviews and corrected
1) opening late
2) refusing people who came 12 noon stating the approximately 45 bahs in both sides were being held for people who at 12:30 were present
3) same foods every month very appalling duplication nothing new
Great experience.
I recently discovered this incredible church which is radically inclusive and very welcoming. I attended services both online and in-person and both experiences were completely joyful and uplifting. Highly recommend to everyone and anyone interested in attending such a service.
They welcome the folks doing the Reclaim Pride March, myself among them, and let me tell you, these people are wonderful. I got a little sick from the heat and they were so kind, made sure I got water, made sure I sat and could use the bathroom, gave me a clean dry mask, and checked in on me while I rested, amazing people and a gorgeous building.
This is my angel survivor. I I have not been working since the pandemic (April 2019 till Now) and have no income at all, in order for me to survive I came to this institution, get in line and got some food to survive for two weeks. It’s an emotional experience for someone who never expected the cause of this pandemic. God Bless America.
Use to really love the common pantry. A part of me still does because you can't control what someone else b does. Last week I was and handed someone my card and it got b through transfer of hands somehow. Stuff happens I wasn't mad at that. I was mad at the way I was treated. I was talk to very disrespectedly. I was told I didn't hand it in. You have get another one. You have to get in the other. Mind you it very some of us is sick and are not suppose to be in the hot sun. Then I notice this. I have 3 people on my card. I get enough for one. The person in front of me has enough for 10 and has card for 5. Oh the pictures will show the rest. The picture on the table is what I received for 3 people. I think they should wear name tags . So we know who we are speaking to.. The lady and the gentleman with the red. Were very nasty. I don't have a option not to go. But just as long as someone looks into this matter.
Thank you.
Following is in regards to the Soup Kitchen operation conducted Saturdays at 12 Noon. When the front doors open you enter the church, sign in up front, take a number, sit down and wait for it to be called in groups of ten. When called you proceed two flights down (the church and kitchen are wheelchair accessible via side door and elevator on East 13th Street side) deposit your numbered ticket in a basket, pick up a tray and plastic utensils and proceed through the serving line where several piping hot entrees may be chosen along with a number of appetizers, salads, deserts and finally beverages. Seating is ample in a cheerful brightly-lit gymnasium well-attended by helpful staff. I can think of nothing that would improve on this joyful experience.

Awesome place with amazing volunteers spanning individual donee4s to Wall st and Chrch types. Gets crowded, as such, Wednesday's are no longer available for food. Thanksgiving is a hit, orders start in Oct. (Pics) right off central park 3,2 (redline) and 3 blocks from the 6 line (green line for Washington DC metro users)

Ordering in line is the best (no wating in line), however the website frequently crashes and the staff will not help.
Every time you walk into Church of the Village you are greeted by some of the most wonderful and grateful church member volunteers. For me it never felt like I was a number. From day one when Pastor Vicki greeted me by the door, I always felt as if I were a part of the church. This was around 5 years ago. The atmosphere and personal inclusion to make you a part of the church family is still strong at this church.
The New York Common Pantry offers a wonderful service providing food and meals to people who financially challenged to provide food to their families. A group of New York Genpact staff @genpactcares volunteered packing food packages to clients at the Pantry.
Points for diversity, but this church service is more of a political movement than Christian worship. There were about a dozen people total in the service we went to, they give you the mic for an introduction if you're new, and the service went well over an hour. I felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time and left early due to the amount of political discussion and judgment.
Loved the open inclusive friendly welcome of this place. Completely Beautiful Christmas Pageant.
Also an amazing mural in the entry and a great Helping Neighbours in Need food & support program.
Here's a church walking the walk not just talking the talk.
Will be back on my next visit to NY. 🤗X
