This people here don't know God
Place with wonderful, friendly and kind people! Thank you for all the support you give, food you share and time you spend helping others 🙏
I'm only writing this because i came very early 6am and there was a few carts infront of me, but somehow i ended up at the back of the line because people show up and go straight to the front of the line because their let in by their buddies.

Theres a guy who works here named Michael that was able to help me and see my frustration. He was very kind, professional, and understanding of the situation and he was able to help me out. We need more people like him. People that actually mske a difference and who are always willing to help.

They serve families and friends alike. Clients make it obvious they’re butting in front of others. Food scarcity makes people become ignorant of the challenges other people face.
Great people great service caring I would recommend it for anybody that needs it and if you can support them, please do so
This place is disgusting I spent my last 3 dollars taking the bus down there because no other places were open on a Monday. I had just gotten over being bed ridden for a week and was low on food and money. There's an older white male who IMMEDIATELY can to turn me away saying they don't register new people I said I'm already registered he asked for my address then said you're not in our district we can't feed he whole city. In the most condescending and disgusting tone embarrassing me infront of people. How DARE this be a service for people ALREADY down on your luck and your RACIST volunteers discriminate. For reference I'm a young black female and it was all white volunteers. He then gave me an emergency pack of spaghetti pizza sauce sugar and black peas like I'm some kind of animal. What meal can be made with this crap. I WILL be following up with as many complaints as possible because it took alot for me to even come down there in the first place. NOBODY should be turned away there was BARELY a line up
On Sunday 25th of August at 12:09 pm I went to this food bank Fort York food bank and this is only my second time going here the first time I went is two years ago when I am experiencing financial difficulties and last Sunday was my second time but my first time experiencing the worst discrimination and disappointment ever encountered to this kind of institution I have been working and contributing to the city for more than 25 years and try my hardest to contribute to the community as much as possible as good Canadian but the staff who is in charge last Sunday is the worst human being I ever encouraged in this kind of institution I questioned what kind of people food bank assigned to help people in needs but instead she is discriminatory and judgmental she got upset with me for no reason and turned me away because I don’t look like a homeless person who needed help for food and groceries and went on my face harassed me for putting their number on my phone she is trying to grab my phone and insisted to take away their fort York food bank number on my phone . She is a sad lady and was very grumpy while I was talking to her explaining my situation. God bless her soul.
Nice peoples good food for everyone.
Great job
Subject: Serious Concerns About Krystal's/Conduct

Hey everyone,

I need to address something really important about our coordinator, Krystal, and I want to make sure everyone is aware of what's been going on. This is going to be public, so let’s be real about it.

I've been volunteering here with my daughter for quite a while now, and I've seen and heard enough about Krystal to know there's a big problem. She’s consistently disorganized, inconsiderate, and dismissive of volunteers' needs. A lot of volunteers have come to me with their concerns about how she operates, and it’s clear she’s not invested in this organization or the community we're trying to serve.

Today was the last straw for me. My daughter and I Ubered half an hour to get here, and Krystal disrespected us publicly and ignored everything we needed. This isn’t just a one-time thing—this is a pattern. I was planning to share a generous donation from my partner's company to help the food bank and offer properties for silent auctions, but I'm not doing that anymore because of Krystal.

This is not just my opinion; it's a widely known issue. Many volunteers have complained about her lack of professionalism and respect, but they’re often too intimidated to say anything because of her attitude. Some volunteers also rely on the food provided by the organization, and Krystal uses her position of authority to take advantage of that, treating them poorly because she knows they need the help.

I want to make it clear that I'm going to be following up on this. I'll be leaving Google reviews, writing letters to the organization, and contacting Julie and any other superiors. This needs to be known: what Krystal is doing is a disgrace to volunteering. We’re here to serve our community, and she’s making it personal and unbearable.

For any new volunteers or those planning to join us soon, be aware of how this organization is run and who they’ve chosen to lead. This food bank is ranked number three in all of Ontario or Toronto, and it's crucial that the leadership reflects the dedication and respect we all have for our community.

I also want to highlight that I’ve done this type of volunteering many times in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve not only donated but also offered properties as vacation rentals for auctions, which have worked amazingly well for my children's schools and to raise money in the communities I’ve lived in. I was more than willing to do the same here, but now I'm just so put off and disgusted. Everyone should be aware of what’s going on in this organization on the volunteer front. I've heard rumors about other issues, but this is very real and should be acknowledged and not ignored.

This is really hard for both myself and my daughter. There’s nothing we love more than the amazing, incredible volunteers who give their time and support on a weekly basis to show up for people in our community in need. I want to make sure they are given so much credit because they do this without pay, without acknowledgment, and with feverish dedication to the people around us. Yet, Krystal is pushing away the kindest and most considerate people in this community because of her own selfish actions.

Julie, I strongly disagree with keeping this private. I think it’s imperative that every volunteer is made very much aware of what’s going on in this organization. This is a volunteer-based program, not a private practice. That’s why I did this on a public forum. Just to be completely clear, Julie, this is not private; it’s public.

Attention, Julie and volunteers of this group: If anyone else has concerns about Krystal, I urge you to voice them to Julie. It's time we stand up for the respect and dedication we all deserve.

Thanks for listening.

Ashley

Hi Julie,

I wanted to clarify that I am a volunteer, not an employee. I do not work for you, and I am not concerned with your opinions, as my focus is solely on helping to feed homeless individuals and those who cannot afford to eat.

I am not interested in discussing politics. If you need any information about the operation

Namaste. Its been my third time at this location, what I enjoy the most is the kind volunteers at least on the days, I've been there. Most importantly, this location has at times vegan options. Which is very rare for food banks to have these items. Will return again and thanks for your support during these challenging times.
This place not bad

Cool
Such a fantastic group of people contributing so positively to our community. The need in Toronto is higher than ever. We’ve just dropped off our second round of multi box donations from a work drive and a from our daughter’s birthday (friends gave food in lieu of gifts). Will continue to support them as much as we can! Thank you for your service to our community!
My experience today at Salvation Army food bank was marvelous,in fact,no word good enough to express my gratitude and appreciation.
Only those led by God can do like The Salvation Army food bank. I am very happy for all they gave to me.
God bless Salvation Army Church

I recently visited the food bank with my neighbors, as I often do to help them due to their language barrier. However, this visit left me feeling disappointed and frustrated.

One of the most disheartening aspects of the visit was the way the volunteers (CHINESE & RED HAIR Woman) treated us. Instead of offering assistance and support, they seemed to judge us based on assumptions. For instance, they assumed that my neighbors and I were all from the same family rather than recognizing that we were neighbors trying to help each other.

This experience made me question why helping others should be met with such judgment. The purpose of a food bank is to provide assistance to those in need, regardless of their background or circumstances. It's crucial for volunteers to approach their work with empathy and understanding, rather than making assumptions about people's relationships or situations.

I hope that this feedback can be used constructively by the organizers of the food bank. Encouraging volunteers to adopt a more inclusive and empathetic approach could greatly improve the experiences of visitors and ensure that everyone feels welcome and supported.

Overall, my recent visit to the food bank was disappointing due to the judgmental attitude of the volunteers. I hope that steps will be taken to address these issues so that others do not have to experience the same frustrations.
Have to admit... I found myself avoiding using the service (out of a discomfort with revisiting being "in need" in decades past) ...and wanting to put a distance between that past experience and life today. However... sometimes you may need help so DON'T let false pride stop you from getting the assistance you need. The staff here are really empathetic and understanding... and honestly, I was AMAZED AT THE QUALITY OF FRESH HEALTHY PRODUCE, along with many healthier choices than one would find at food banks 2 decades ago.
Best food bank ever.
ACSA IS SUCH A GOOD FOOD BANK
With good services
Helpful peoples and very good hearted
They are good people and generous, salvation army support with anything
Hello to you dear ones
I visited, but they gave very little food for six people, 2 pieces of fruit, a can of milk, an envelope of macaroni, a Cyrillic for children and a little tarkari and that's it.
If you new to canada, suffering in this costly groceries and costly loving they will aid you with their support with food and groceries. Service oriented and please go only if need.
Very friendly and helpful all the time you can see how tiered they are but friendly all the time.
My new community!
This place is great for food bank! Be aware that you need to enter by the back door. And also make sure to book an appointment, because they get really busy sometimes. Just show up there during the week, bring your documents and book an appointment.
The staff was really committed to help everyone and I was able to get some good food that was essential such as fruits, milk, rice, vegetables.
Thank you so much
Most wonderful community ever!! Treated like a valued human being and able to get nutrition needed for the week!! Thankyou so much 💛
Its free food centre to get some fresh vegitables, bread and milk.

Volunteeres are very polite and friendly.
To add it all up This is the best foodbank for so many reasons that I have ever been to.
It's better if you get an appointment or walk in earlier. Choices are limited but you have a better chance if you could arrive early
Very well organized and Bible centric
They are doing fantastic work in the community!! 5 Stars
Thank God for these people and the resources they provide for people like myself on a fixed income in Parkdale. They're organized, friendly, welcoming, and fair :) Grateful, grateful, and grateful!
Hee hee they 'lose' a star because it can get a little chilly, the outside wait but that's not their fault, and THEY work outside too. Hey, people pioneered Canada in winter; I can bundle up for the abundance and wait my turn. Thank you 😊
Very helpful staff and welcoming
sadly food banks can never be 5 star, but pcfb is a good food bank run by good and patient people.... the clients can sometimes be sketchy so leave the kids at home.... it can feel unsafe outside in the waiting area....
I have been fortunate enough to be welcomed into this establishment. I have visited a few times, and everytime I am met with open arms and made to feel very welcome. The staff are very kind and generous. Iv seen the staff treat everyone there with respect and dignity and humanity. They have a very challenging job,as some visitors can be very rude and entitled/ I'm sure this is due to the stress of having to visit a food bank in the first place/ but even still, they are treated kindly. The food I received is always good quality and they even meet my dietary restrictions. I am very grateful for this establishment and for the staff that operate it.
Canadian's shouldn't have to encounter such rude and discriminating people to put food on their table. I was told to " don't touch but right in my face, the Muslim man is told to " take " He proceeded and filled his buggy.

incredible experience with great service, they did a great job at making sure the experiance was unbiased and they haneded the food out very evenly it was great! I highly reccomend 10/10.
I was not impressed with the volunteer and rules that they had at this food bank. I went there for my friend in need of help and food for her and her baby and they turned me down. I pleaded for them to give me baby food and they refused saying she was not a member of the food bank. What does membership really have to do with helping a baby and helping another human in need of food. Shame on them!!
Extremely rude and unpolite people, we went to ask about food bank & wanted to get information about it but a lady working there was behaving very rudely with everyone, not even answering a question properly really unprofessional, if you can not do the job than step back and leave it rather than having such unkind bahviour with people, hopefully the authorities will notice and hire some professional and well mannered people to do their job with kindness!!!
If I could give zero stars, I would.
This has been my third time going to this food bank/church, and each time I've gone, I've been discriminated against on multiple things because I'm what they would deem as 'lower class' or 'poor'.

You list yourselves as an emergency food bank but the last two times I've gone I've had to BEG for food for me and my cats.
Either 'no one is working' or 'the food bank isn't open today.' which again doesn't make sense if you're an EMERGENCY food bank. Also, if someone is telling me no one is working today, why can't they help me? Aren't they supposed to be there to help? Isn't that what Jesus preaches?

Plus, I've seen in the freezers and fridges in your back room, they're FILLED with food and yet you tell people that come by needing help, that you have nothing. Some items are even listed "DO NOT TOUCH." almost as if you're reserving specific items for specific people or either yourselves. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the donations that this church receives goes right into the pockets and tummies of the people working there, not the people in the community who need it.

On two different occasions I've been told to get rid of my cats so I can feed myself.

On every occasion I've been there I've been made to feel like I'm not supposed to be there and that I shouldn't even be asking for food and have been rushed out the door.

I'm appalled that you call yourselves a church and promote the word of God but couldn't take two seconds out of your day until I BEGGED you and started to tear up in front of your patrons, to help me.
The only reason you decided to help was because people started looking, and you're a church, so of course you have an image to maintain once people start turning heads.

As the niece of a very high Arch Bishop, who has been raised and baptized within the Church, I'm shocked this is how you treat God's Children.

If you want to learn about the Christian faith, come here and experience it fully.
We're blessed that people want to help in times of need which is happening allot more these days. Even seniors are in need now!
God bless you all for doing this 🙏
Wonderful to arrive at church after 2 months and be recognised.even that I was visiting from Montréal. Also thankss for the warm welcome to my grandaughterJessah May the Lord continue to bless your ministry.
I went today to provide the documents required to get food assistance but the dark skin tall lady was not nice she just wanted me to leave. It seemed that she is donating from her pocket.
The staff who work here are amazing. They treated so well. They truly cared for me. I felt loved. If some day you come short of food, here feels like home.
Thanks for the ministry. I'm pastor James kalulu at welcome Baptist church in Jinja Uganda. The LORD has laid a burden on me of Evangelism discipleship and church planting. We also do school ministry as well but covid-19 had halted everything. Schools have not been operating for 2 years but now they have resumed this January. GOD bless you so much
These volunteers there every day show such love and care for everyone I witnessed in need. I was there for the holiday care package and the thought that went in to it. I actually was able to enjoy my "covid christmas" as I felt like I had a token of home. Turkey, stuffing, sweets etc.

These people care. And it shows.
Thank you for caring. It's been a blessing!
I happened to go by on my daily walk and there were at least a dozen people inside and a line around the corner with no distancing. It's Parkdale! We're down to earth, community focused and follow rules during a pandemic to care for and respect our neighbours.
I was at the toy drives I hv a 15 months old so today I was a bit disappointed I saw a basketball 🏀 net I really wanted for my baby but I can’t afford to buy it Thts what I wanted to give my son for his xmas it was in the office direction I went an fet my toys but there were nothing I really like or wanted any I did get few thing so I ask if I can give back all Tht I pick up an in return I get the basket ball net I was so desire for my back but rose said no a mean they toys are for donations why would u refused me the toy unless they keeping it for they then self i was willing to give up all tht I got for this one basketball net cause it means a lot to me I wanted to start my son off as a baller 😭😭😭😭😭
This is a very nice worship place... They have a new building es and always contribute with our society.
Every weekend many churches have a meeting and other languages like Spanish and Philippine christian followers
I
Had no food call in and he told me come Monday but Monday was too far so she told me to
Come the same day and I was surprised. He was friendly nice and gave me a lot of food . Very thankful. Can’t remember his name and the help but they were both good. One thing I don’t like is you can go once a month for food..... I am happy. And the guy didn’t treat me any different. Anyone who in need of food should go there ...
They have a nice gym! but no basketball drop in? No open gym? Not much of a church to me if they are not going to let the community use the gym.
Very warm and friendly people here.
Local Salvation Army temple I have been going for years. They ate a great community church. They also run a food bank, toy drives and all sorts of fundraisers and community meals. If you are in need this is the place to go.

Worst food banks on College St, near Chinatown. Elderly were not served respectfully, milk were distributed discriminately by staff. Elderly can't choose the milk brand they used when available, but were given to those staff`s friends or longtime goers indiscriminately. Free lunch wasn't nutritious. No one takes complains, several staff behaved like bosses. Someone out there should investigate complaints, Jesus.
