These extensive woods are wonderful. Around the Discovery Centre can get busy in school holidays, but further out you can get relative solitude among magnificent trees. At the Discovery Centre there's a nice cafe with outdoor seating (some covered) and good car park (but you can also park roadside on Abbey Lane) and toilets (I've not tried them). You can also access the woods from the other surrounding roads. You need good footwear when it's wet, but the main paths are well trodden and level or easy gradients - you can go off-road, so to speak. There are plenty of dog walkers but I've never encountered any problems.

A beautiful and peaceful place, especially down by the Brook. There are several walking routes to take depending on which you fancy. It will take several visits to really explore Ecclesall Woods. It's also a clean place. We saw no poo bags thrown around or any litter at all. Just as a woodland should be. 🌳🌲🌳🌲🌲🌳

Beautiful woods. Many options of undulating, hilly or flattish terrain. As it is cut across by a road, there is one part where crossing is difficult. There are plans to address this but is awaiting approval.
Good place for dog walkers, runners. Great for exploring with children. Historical / geographical information dotted across the woods. Woodland Cafe offers great drinks and seating.

Great place for a walk in amongst beautiful surroundings. The little cafe offers a selection of teas, coffees and other soft drinks and has plenty of seating. I visited on a Saturday and the car park closed at 16:00, and there is also free parking available on the roadside.

Lovely ancient wood with little gems of human history scattered around. Good for bike rides, walks and dogs.

Absolutely beautiful woodland that is vast and pristine. You can walk for hours and find great little spots, paths and beauty spots. Definitely recommend going for a walk around them!
