My husband and I wanted to buy each other a new Bible for Christmas. We wanted to actually see what we were buying, as opposed to online. I did check online and saw there was a good selection of both NKJV and ESV. So, we drove from Kitchener and were not disappointed. Staff were friendly. A worthwhile trip.

A friend and I were desperately looking for the NLT version bible but could not find it at a local bookstore nearby. We had to go all the way to Cornerstone Bookshop and it was so worth it. There were various translations available at this store and on top of the bible, there’s also little gifts and stationery cards.
If you’re looking for a particular book, make sure to call in advance in case they’re out of stock. The lady was very kind and even offered to order me another big copy of the NLT. I would definitely recommend this location.

This is a small friendly Judaica store in Toronto. The owner is very helpful and welcoming. The products he carries are reasonably priced. He has a huge inventory of literature on every topic. Well worth a visit.

I visited in hopes of finding an album by a Persian band called 127 - I didn't find it (they're a relatively underground indie band so I wasn't expecting to find it) but my stay at their establishment was incredibly positive! It's a beautiful store with lots of selections. As someone trying to learn the Persian language, I'll definitely be back!

Friendly staff and I often find hidden gems among the selection. You can't find a better deal for used books in the city. Obviously don't expect recent releases to be available here

The Owner of Pegah Book is a very Right and honest man, I asked him, Please give a Book in .... field on your own recommendation, then he suggested a book and I picked up.

Unbelievable, every single page of that book is attractive and interesting to read again and again.

Many valuable used books with fair prices. The regular price is $1 but there are some kids books for $0.5 and some up to $5. The staff are excellent and the store is open on Wednesdays to Sundays.

Such a nice place, and they have all the Farsi book you can imagine, I never thought they have this much variety. About the owner which It was my concern, he was extremely nice and welcome but prices were little bit expensive

Good books found.

They ordered a book for me that I never could have gotten in Canada, and had it shipped from Russia. It ended up costing $20 more than the original quoted price, but that was probably due to certain political events going on, rather than being the store’s fault. I’ll try them out again the next time I’m looking for something specific, but I wouldn’t go there just to browse.

Well I must say I had the most amazing experience here.
Being a huge bibliophile since early childhood, I knew all the bookstores in every town we lived in (back in Iran). When I moved to the U.S. I was beyond disappointed to find out there aren't any well-established Persian bookstores in America, especially taking into account the fact that there are at least 3 million Iranians in the U.S.
This is the first time we visited Toronto and I was thrilled to find this place. I must say I felt a bit disheartened when I read the google reviews, that they all said the owner was moody and even rude.
Mr. Derakhshan (meaning brilliant in Persian) was beyond helpful. I walked in and asked a million questions and he helped me browse. Here are some tips that will help you understand why I think this is a wonderful bookstore:

1. He knows his inventory, genres and why he has chosen each title. He also knows about all the editions and publishers from Iran.

2. His store is not only rich in old Persian titles and vintage books, he has a bunch of the newest titles in the Iranian market, which is extremely hard to obtain from abroad unless you have family in Iran who can send it to you.

3. He has old persian cds, movies, and records.

4. His store is beautiful. Truly. So many gorgeous artwork and many of them are for sale. Like if you wanted beautiful persian tile coasters!

5. He has so many different genres. From fiction to translated fiction, poetry, politics and even science.

6. He is truly understanding and appreciative of a fellow bibliophile. We had issues with payment and he helped us. He even set aside the titles we couldn't afford on the spot to sent to us on another occasion. He told us we can browse and take as many pictures as we can. He gave us his info so we can order the books we want. He even knocked off the price of an entire book from our order ("so you can come back again!" He said).

7. He has such a wonderful grasp on different versions of the existing books. He can, for example, help you find the best translation.

Aside from all this, I found some true gems. Translations of Fuentes and Celine, Forough Farrokhzad's poetry (original version with no censorship) and many more.

I can understand why some people didn't connect with this place on their first experience. This is just my guess.
Mr. Derakhshan has been a bookseller for 40 years. He has dedicated his life and passion to this job and he has achieved something truly amazing. If you are not a reader and are just looking for ways to pass the time while waiting for your friend to show up for a coffee date, there is a chance you will end up asking irrelevant questions and creating an unwanted frustration for a booklover.

I know it is not a reason for pushing people away but I am mentioning that I understand if Mr. Derakhshan would ask a noninterested customer to leave, based on some reviews. It just shows his passion and dedication to his books.

Altogether, highly recommended for anyone who loves the Persian language and Iranian literature.

Sells used books. I think the regular price is$1, but you can find books for $0,50 and $3. If you're a book worm, you should definitely visit this place. There are lots of different types of books for any age

Donated a bunch of my old novels that are still in very good condition and the exchange went smoothly. I wish the location was in a better spot so they'd get more foot traffic as they have a good selection of books for cheap.

Its the most lovely place I have been. The person who is at bookstore is so nice and patient. He also gives me an gift for the new year at before. I find all the books that I wanted at there also you can ask them to bring you the books that you want from the Iran. This place is my favourite for ever. Anytime I go there I feel happy and excited to see al of those Persian books.🫶🏻

This place is a hidden gem. Books sold here are mostly $1 each and you often find rare book and magazines. I keep coming back here to find good books to buy as I like to keep the books I read.
They also sell music CDs and DVD movies, though most of them are old shows.
Definitely a must visit if you ever get a chance to catch them during their hours of operation!
They are located on the lower level of the building, just below the library. You can easily get there with an escalator or elevator.

Whenever I get the chance to go to North York, I check Pegah bookstore. It feels like home here. It reminds me of Karmikhan bookstores.
I had thus opportunity recently and was lucky enough to find a lot of my favourite books here.
The fentleman owning the bookstore is familiar with all authors and he can offer you great options for your favourites.
They also have beautiful Persian handcarfts such as handbags.
By the way, this is a Persian bookstore. So most of the books are in Farsi.

This is a part of the North York Central Library. It is on the concourse level just outside of the library itself. Books that are no longer needed in the library, are sold here for a seriously discounted price. They recently renovated and now have quite a lovely space. This is probably the cheapest you’ll find used books in the city aside from maybe garage sales. Check it out if you are looking to pick up some books.

As a side note, there is another excellent Book Ends location at the Bloor Reference Library.

I have been visiting this bookstore since they opened at least 8+ years ago. They are always well stocked with a variety of different items and their prices are good when there are sales. If there is something that isn't in the store they will do a special order for you. It's family owned and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this store -- great for browsing around and to also pick up gifts for yourself, family and friends. Highly recommend this place.
