This is a beautifully designed building located in a peaceful site inside the Mizzou campus. The interior of the building is also maintained and kept very clean. We liked the small art gallery and loved the spaces on the second floor. Nice place to spend a few hours on Saturdays.
The art museum was beautiful. This facility has much to offer. We had an appt to review specific archived materials. The staff was so helpful. There is so much to learn from history. Beautiful facility.
Sad to see Building Going Down 😞 looks like Doing proper tear down with misters to avoid asbestos/ contamination. Filters on drains and workers protected.
The building and new location are superb! This is a treasure long overdue. The Thomas Hart Benton Lithograph Exhibition is most excellent and well worth the time to spend seeing this Grand Opening venue. I found the Gift Shop area to be well stocked with unique and unusual items. A must-see when visiting Columbia downtown and/or the University of Missouri campus.
This place is truly the best! An amazing book store full of everything Missouri made by Missourians! Bookstore is also a little cafe, so they really do have everything! There is even a sitting area outside the bookstore for you to hangout! The art gallery is so unique and interesting! The staff is so friendly and kind! Definitely a great place to research or to just hang out!
I was glad to visit the gallery in the last week it will be open. As a graduating senior about to leave my home state, it was good to reflect on what it means to be a Missourian through the art here. This location will permanently close April 19 2019. I look forward to visiting the SHS in its new building this summer!
If you love to do genealogy and you have Missouri roots, you must go here to find your people. Whether its county histories, old county maps and gazetteers or the newspaper collection, you can be swept away in time! I didn't even mention the beautiful art gallery.
