Fanastic place for all things gifts. Ceramics, trinkets, decor, origami paper, vases, and kitchen ware.
Total waste of taxpayers dollars. It’s more like a storage of ugly trash that no one would call “art” made by unknown self proclaimed “artists”.
For major museums this is quite small. Also I enjoyed the first exhibit that we walked into which had a lot of bright and vibrant art but after that I found much of it pretty forgettable.
Also fairly challenging to park there as it's downtown San Jose and there are a variety of parking places however some of them are kind of pricey. Ended up parking on a meter and stayed for less than 3 hours.
Shout out to the staff as my wife left a phone there and was able to retrieve it from the nice people there.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
Lovely museum. Just big enough to see in less than two hours. Well chosen exhibits. Makes one think....
My girlfriend and I had a really good time! It’s a bit of a small museum, but what is displayed is very good. We love the shopping exhibit and the candy store exhibit. I realize in the future people are going to read this and wonder what the hell I’m talking about but for now in January 2024 it’s a cool exhibit. Lots of cool stuff.
I really enjoyed my visit. My wife and I walked around the museum. The low point was downstairs, thought the learning center could use more to get it more engagement. The high points were everything else. For a Friday afternoon, it was poppin'. The gift store was nice and reasonably priced. Upstairs had nice pieces that hit close to home.

Lovely art for sale
A wonderful array of curated gifts/souvenirs ranging from stationary amigurumi, delicate earrings, small art pieces, many of which support local or independent artists! Great spot to pop in while in SJ Japantown
Today I made my second purchase (two more kimonos) It is a beautiful experience to wear one, the ladies who run the store are Japanese, and they know how to explain the details of each Japanese art, as well as wearing a kimono 👘 with its underwear and everything ! Highly recommended

Daiso is a discount Japanese/Asian supermarket or conveniencd store rather. Their product portfolio is quite diverse. They offer some foods but also non-edible gifts, household items, clothing, electronics, beverages, and varying discounted items.

Easy and convenient location, inside Westfield Oakridge mall, adjacent to the west entrance. This Daiso is relatively small, so their selection of items is limited. This also means that their aisles are particularly narrow, even for Daiso. Sometimes I'll have to wait to get to an item because 3 people is enough to crowd the space. Team members have always been friendly and helpful.

This is always a good place to visit. I usually walk out with something that I didn't know I needed. I will say the last time I visited, the store was extremely warm inside compared to the mall. Hopefully they sort that out.

Well to be fair when we went there 3 exhibitions were close and i have no idea how big or small they were! I will update this if we end up going again and i see an actual difference!

If you do the math u probably have more art at home than what was at display here, hell go to TJMax instead! The building itself is very beautiful so are the views of surrounding buildings from it! I give it 2 starts just for those views and that of the admissions people’s super nice and welcoming attitude! Otherwise man we were disappointed!
The place was super clean and well maintained and there were not that many people there too on a Sunday!
I’d only recommend going there during like a special exhibition u know about!

Cleanness: very clean
People: nice admissions guy, security folks not so much
Cost: 10$ adults, students get in free. With id
Value: well.. we were not happy!
Parking: plenty parking lots around the area I’d imagine a little tricky in weekdays!

Awesome shop with tons of Japanese items. The ladies that work there are so nice and helpful. I highly recommend it
Modern abstract art museum. don’t know ANYTHING about ART!! I really don’t.. But I do love looking at interesting pictures.
On the small side for a city museum but a pleasant space and helpful staff. Nice exhibits with no barriers so being up close and interacting was easy.
Great spot in downtown San Jose to take in art. Some of the art installations are thought provoking. Some art look deceptively simple, but the amount of work that went into making it so simple seems so effortless.
We had a great time here. It was Chinese New Year's weekend and was too much crowded. Also, there was a dragon dance show, which had a huge line. There is a small cafe inside. Prices are reasonable for all food items (not a lot of options available). It's a good place to bring young children and can spend approximately 2-3 hours here. Weekend entry is free to this museum. Lots of art collections here, attached pics. I will recommend visiting if you are nearby.

They have a large ranger of interesting items including a pre owned books section that is worth stopping by to check. Very nice people running the place and the small museum area is worth visiting as well.

Affordable items of decent quality. Back to school or college? Must visit this shop. Again, we witness the power of the currency exchange - American dollar and Japanese yen. Awesome prices 🤩💖
They have gorgeous plush toys here, in bright pastel shades. Perfect for a ladylove.

Very nice shop with modest variety of Disney products but many other items provide a full range of prices
This gem in SJ Japantown has been around for about 80 years, with humble beginnings in SF. The owner was very sweet and showed us to fold an origami hat! Beautiful and fun fabric prints for your Kimono or Hoppie coat. This store is packed with sandals, chop sticks, ceramics, cookbooks, fans, kachi-kachi, and so many other unique gifts. Stop by while you are in Japantown and support your local small business!

The clothing here is printed with designs from movies like star wars, marvel, and anime. They also have harry Potter stuff which my girlfriend likes. They also have related games and nic-nacks, like mugs. Great place for t-shirts or gifts.

Lots of neat stuff! The staff is super helpful and friendly. It was a bit difficult to see all the products in the store; they have great use of verticality utilizing every inch of the space, which is amazing but we felt a little pressured to move quickly with how busy it was.

My first time ever visiting this store was delightful and educational. I went there to buy gifts for a relative. One purchase did not come with a box, so the woman behind the counter (perhaps the owner?) went and searched for one. She even gift wrapped the item for me and included a pretty bow! She also gave me a brief oral history about the store (the first store opened in San Francisco over 100 years ago) and even showed me how to fold an origami samurai helmet. I will definitely be back for future purchases.

Its like a Japanese Dollar Store. Items range in price from $1.50 to $5.00. Interesting and unique products. Highly recommend checking it out just for entertainment. It was amusing how Diaso put a display of water bottles in the window next to the mall's drink vending machines outside the store. Great gorilla marketing. 😆

I was raised in the neighborhood. I know the family from the past. Great people. I delivered newspapers in Japantown as a young boy long ago. This is an honest people and great quality items sold here. Incredible beauty in this store.
Bless to them always🙏💮🕊

I wish they sold items online. I live faraway now. No good store in Southern California.

This place always has something I need. My ramen bowl was about to break, and I found a really nice one here. Nice assortment of chopsticks and all kinds of things a household needs like dishes, cookware, even rice cookers and a good selection of MAC knives. Lots of interesting books, and sumi-e/shodo supplies.

Nikkei is a small shop full of wonders. They carry a selection of SumoFish shirts and decals. A great place to find all of your Japan town Swag. The staff is always incredibly friendly. Nikkei is a must stop in Japantown!
Wonderful friendly staff that make you feel like a neighbor. They have an amazing selection of merchandise that I have often relied on for thoughtful gifts. I was very sorry to leave this store behind when I had to move away. I hope to return to visit and shop again.

I had a pretty quick shopping experience, but everything I needed to expedite the purchase I got. The showcase is inviting and had the product I wanted very well arranged. The seller briefly informed me of the product value, size and payment methods. I hope to return to enjoy the store more.

Be sure to call before going & make sure someone is truly at the store. I was so excited to go, looked up the store hours & everything. Left the house specifically to go there & when I got there it was closed. Unfortunately I won't be able to go back before I leave CA to go back home.

Great store, great stuff, great cause! They have tons of stuff from Disney, Harry Potter, tv shows, you name it. Shirts, socks, pins, pencils, mugs, underwear, pajamas, and whatever other themed merch you can think of, they got it! Got a great mouse rat shirt and some cool Rick and Morty and Bob's burgers stuff there, I'll definitely be back!

Prices are good, especially for the quality of the products. You can't go wrong with the food or drinks. Much cheaper than the candy store and the target. I like it because they have a large variety of stuff. They also change out their product designs, but keep most of their products static so they always have the stuff I need.

This store is located in Oakridge near the food court. I love the variety in the store. They rotate their selection quite often. One of the sales associates told me that they usually get shipments and it's a surprise to them as well. If you're looking for novelty gifts or graphic tee-shirts, this is the place to find it all with Harry Potter, Disney, TV Shows, Games, Movies, and all other pop culture related themes.

I love this place! Just brought very small things but the owner and shop keeper had packed them in an amazingly elegant way with origami for me! I learned that in Kyoto, stores pack carefully to show how much they appreciate the recipient. I think here they do the same! It is not only a 100 years old store but is piece of Japanese spirit in the Bay Area -- because the owners!
The gentleman working when we came in was so helpful and patient. This is a huge store with a balance of handmade trinkets to breathtaking tea sets. I highly suggest popping in and checking out their unique stock. I couldn't leave without some adorable chop sticks and beautiful origami paper!
