Do not try to go here if you’re not an Italian citizen. especially if its actually an emergency!!!!!!!
Very very disappointed.
Went in San Raffaele Hospital with big expectations but had a bad experience with a visit at a doctor which lasted a few minutes, maybe les than 5 minutes, without even consulting any of the analyses and documents i had with me, and only by scrolling some info i brought with me, he resulted immediately in conclusions , which meanwhile weren't even clear if they were actually solutions, and if yes for how long..., and the doctor suggested that in order to find out if that was a solution i would have to meet another doctor, a surgeon for which i had to pay again the same relatively expensive price (extremely expensive for 5 minutes visit , maybe even less), only to get a possible solution which i could read searching for the topic in google - saying that "if you had this thing that times, than probably you need surgery..."
Also the hospital anticipated my visit the day before the visit in afternoon, making me buy other plane tickets in order to get there in time, and i went there 2 hours before the anticipated/new visit time, and then waited half hour after the visit time - to make the 5 minutes visit.
A lot of bureaucracy, and money, and time, to get this result as above.
I would not recommend to anyone.

I came in hospital , very dirty , one receptionist working - as I entered after 15 min waiting first thing they told me there is 70 people Infront of you .
After quick exam I was sent in waiting room , it was 9.30 pm and people waiting next to me were from 3pm and still not getting in the line .

I asked if I leave to wait at home 6,7 hours can they call me on the phone and give me results , they said no . Waiting area is very dirty , no air condition , all personal is looking very tired and miserable you can tell they are overloaded with work .

Very very very low standards and quality and organization .

kind and professional hospital, they speak English well, the service was quick, and free of charge for the basic emergency service.
Im suffering for my knee due to an accident of scooter ,, its almost 3days since i got hurt,,, will i go to the nearest pronto soccorso? change my mind its because i know what going on and happened when im arrive at hospital....5 to 10 hours of waiting....i will cure myself by doing a little bit medication.....very worse ever since
They were really kind, respectful and fast. The main doctor spoke English great!
We went to the emergency room on Sunday, but they were fully ready!
Thanks
Very worse hospital experience ever! We pay our taxes for their salaries, but they can’t even treat us well just because we’re immigrants.
The staffs are VERY RUDE and UNFRIENDLY. The doctors and nurses are SARCASTIC and DISRESPECTFUL to the patients and specifically to the guardians. They are also INCAPABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL and they LACK EMPATHY and they SLACK OFF ALWAYS. Their service is so so terrible .Whenever you need them they are always on break or not on their station. They can’t even find a vein to the point that my sister had 8-9 injects before they could find it and they even blamed her for it. They are VERY RACIST. Even though you need an immediate care and you first arrive they will ignore you and just put you on the wait list, they only prioritize white people even though it’s not an urgent matter. If you’re white, then you will be first on their list, it’s non negotiable. They will also let you wait for 13-15hours before they could even check up on you and get the results we got here at 5pm (12-11-23) then we finished and got the results at 8.30 in the morning(13-11-23) so we waited for 15 hours. They even forget to check up on a patient who waited for 14 hours just to be treated. He created a scene in order for them to noticed him then after that all the patients are so angry for waiting so long.We spent so much time waiting for them to do their job but they are just chilling outside, chitchatting, always on break and smoking their cigarettes and they wouldn’t even pay attention to your concerns, they can’t even be bothered to ask their patients if how they are doing. EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE CLOSE TO DYING, YOU WILL DIE WAITING AND FASTER BEFORE THEY CAN EVEN TREAT YOU!! They don’t have the heart and patience to serve the people. SO DON’T GO HERE IF YOU WOULDN’T WANT TO EXPERIENCE THIS.
Waited in the emergency for the whole afternoon just for them to tell us to go to another hospital, their orthopedic team only works in the morning. Could have been a 5min visit, turned out to be 4h, quite incapable
Waited 3 hours in the emergency department and I respect that some emergencies are more important than others but you can’t leave an emergency patient without and ecg or blood test for three hours!!!
Worldwide reference in hematology. Very professional and commited doctors. Nurses are simply amazing. Would recommend it hundred times
They should say it's closed on sundays, I walked around all the hospital surroundings trying to find an entrance over 40 minutes walking and nothing, every single gate was closed had a medical emergency.....
It's a massive/impersonal hospital so I shouldn't have expected much. My first interaction was booking the appointment (waited over 2 hours to do so), upon which I approached the sportello and the woman just stared at me - literally no words. As I asked for the appointment to be booked, she took my paperwork without saying anything, printed out the confirmation and still said nothing - not even an explanation of when, where the appointment was, etc. I have never had such an intensely impersonal and rude interaction (or lack thereof lol) for something so nervewracking. Really not looking forward to the actual appointment with the doctor if this is what the staff is like. Awful. You'd think someone working in a hospital would even *attempt* to have an ounce of empathy, but no not here.
I'm sure the doctors are good, but reception is slow inefficient most of the windows are closed and the few people there are are gossiping with each other instead of accepting patients. I went 3hours early to be sure to have my prebooked Cardiology appointment and arrived at the nurses desk at cardiology an hour before as I needed an ECG. The rude nurse laughed at my booking and asked me if I booked it myself. Yes I answered but I need the booked ECG as that's what is writen on the doctors door. She threw my sheet to one side and said we will
call you 45minutes later noone called I went to ask her again. She told me to sit down. They the 4nurses were all chatting together and doing nothing. So the time came for my cardi
Efficient in the extreme for specialist visits - even under the public health system. I was quickly processed and seen by my doctor. Clean facility. Manageable navigation despite its large size. Helpful staff.
Incompetent administrative processes. I showed up 40 minutes early and lost half a day waiting for reception. There were still 50 patients of my type (and probably more than 100 patients total) in front of me in line when I left without receiving my medical visit. A very angering experience
I've been there for medical examinations and subsequent surgery (Urologia dept) and I've found great staff and organisation, at any level. Managing hundreds of people every day for examinations, controls and surgeries is not an easy task, considering this is not private clinic. In my opinion, this is the proof that public facilities may work as - or even better than - privately funded organisations. Congratulations to whom brought this hospital to such a level of quality and efficiency.
Long waiting (8h) on a bed before being seeing by and doctor. In during the waiting nurses checked on me only 2x.
It seems there's a severe lack of staff.
Only physical examination by the doctor, no scans, MRI etc... Got medicine administered for my back pain and got dismissed.
I knew that the medical system in Italy was not working, but i would never imagine is that BAD…i do not advice to go to the emergency room at san carlo hospital…my son having an awful stomach pain has waited for 7 hours…nobody cares! That you can not keep a child without water and food for 7 hours…not to mention one that had a strong pain already. Shame on you nurses and doctors in san carlo!

Good hospital, friendly doctors, multilingual service
First of all my gratitude to the first aid who came to my house, all of them are amazing not through their uniform but their generosity and very educated. God bless them more and more and protection from illnesses and danger.

Even though people can complain about the time you have to wait to be attended, you have to realize that some emergencies are more important than others. The workers were really helpful and the doctor who attend me was emphatic and patient. Thanks to the community of Lombardy and the workers who are doing their best

It is okay but it is kind of busy and the COVID tests are horror. But if we are talking positive, the hospital from the outside is magnificent! And the view of Milano with the skyscrapers is just everything! So..... I was also treated here for some years ago.... So I'll rate it 3 stars
The worst experience ever. Screaming doctor, she did not help and what is important - she wrote in the medical documentation pressure values and heart conditions without any medical examination! It is an offense! Incopetent and not helpful. Big shame
Don’t go there unless you really don’t have any other choice! Especially if you’re foreigners. Very bad experience. Waisted almost 27 hours in the emergency room waiting untreated, then was released (after a very long wait) with a recommendation to get a treatment in a different hospital. Even the release letter was impossible to get from them. If I would just read Google reviews and choose a different hospital things could end way better. The staff was very young (maybe too young) and nice most of the time. The facilities and cleanliness is not so bad, for a hospital, but at the bottom line this hospital can’t provide a proper treatment. Very disappointing.

Professional hospital, very friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent, efficient staff in A&E - the kindest people I've met during my stay in Italy, even with a language barrier on my side.
Hopefully I will never have to visit again but it's reassuring to know that it is here in case of need.
Disclosure: I work there. However, that’s a committed environment for the care of our loved ones, a modern facility, a large family of experienced and training health care workers with the only aim to help patients.
Had to go to the A&E (Emergency Room) for a health situation with a friend. She was immediately assessed in a thorough manner and then classified as a green case (which turned out to be entirely correct). As it was between 8pm and midnight, the A&E was quite busy but we saw a doctor after a couple of hours of waiting (that's ok!). The doctor was very considered, spoke good English and helped greatly. I have to say a big thank you to the staff, they work so hard and face some tough situations. Not everyone speaks English but you can easily find a member of staff who speaks good English. They are professional and care for you. Thank you, Grazie.
Worst hospital ever, Someone I know had an operation for lived tumor in this hospital 2-3 months ago the operation was successful but they did not tell the patient that he had gotten cancer, he went back to his home country and became sick again and then found out he had cancer!! HE DIED TODAY! The doctors didn't test if cancer it didn't tell him!😕
so good
Good services
