Amazing country house with holiday let's and fishing holidays. Wonderful grounds.

If zero stars were possible, I would give them. Some of the most unfriendly people I came across in Northumberland. Took a wrong turn whilst on a bike ride and entered the grounds via the delivery access (no signs that I could see). It took all of 3 minutes for a couple (owners? ground keepers?) to shout at me and repeatedly tell me that I'm on private ground. I of course apologised and left immediately.
If that's the way to promote your property to potential visitors, then thanks but no thanks.
Avoid if possible.

I was privileged to be allowed to paint and draw in the beautiful grounds The castle is of two parts and sits high on the eastern bank of the North Tyne river in its beauty and solitude I was able to watch peregrine and buzzards on their quests for prey. It is open to the public in afternoons and is an opportunity not to missed

A really brilliant afternoon.
I feel so lucky to have managed to come upon this beautiful property in Northumberland.
Chipchase Castle conjures up all those images of a stately home set in rolling parkland.
The guided tour was well worth the reasonable price and it was obvious the guide felt an affinity with the house because he transferred his enthusiasm to those he was showing around.
It doesn’t appear to be promoted, I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing, I was privileged to have had the house and gardens together with fewer than 20 people whilst I was there.

Chipchase is still a private house but for £8 per person, you can get a guided tour of part of to house. You will also get access to the Chapel in the grounds and the garden. Tours start every half hour. The house is only open in June from 1pm till 5 pm so ch3ck the website before visiting. Carpark in front of the house, use the main entrance from the road to access it as there is no brown signs. Guide book avadible for £2

Fascinating private home which has changed times many times. Originally a Norman Peel Tower, then a Tudor house and finally Jacobean. Wonderful carved fireplace upstairs, some fine porcelain, furniture and paintings. Free to Historic Houses members. Recommended

This is one of the nicest places to go for a day out in the countryside, the host is one of the most interesting people and has some fantastic stories - highly recommend.

Amazingly beautiful in every aspect, chipchase castle takes your breath away. I absolutely loved it, I don't think I've ever been so intrigued by a building before. The guide gives you really interesting information and stories about the castle and costs £6.00 for entry. After your show around you can go and explore the rest of the grounds such as the chapel and the the most beautifully designed and coloured garden you will ever come across with a cute little shop tucked away within. A MUST visit place most definitely. Family friendly also 😊
