Just wanted to leave my experience with my free trial lesson and induction. Thanks so much for my induction trial lesson with Kieran. I was absolutely blown away with his patience and willingness to share his knowledge, advice, and experience, not to mention his welcoming and friendly approach. I look forward to training with the academy. 5*

They didn't teach me self defence they just wanted my parents money. All advice was impractical in real life.

What an amazing place, both of our boys love Kaizen academy, they have both found their own different classes. All the instructors are supportive and encouraging, perfect for developing confidence, while learning new skills. A perfect, friendly place would definitely recommend Kaizen.

Amazing gym. Lovely atmosphere, great people, my fitness improved 10 fold without me noticing. Adam is a really amazing teacher. Helped me to get my kicks right in about 10 minutes. Open until late. Great place.

Gary and Activ8 team really have their classes dialled. The engagement with every level is amazing and as a newbie I have never felt left out of the group for knowing less than everyone else.

My child has been training with Activ8 since the age of 7 and has ASD ADHD and other medical issues and I would trust them 100% . I took my child out of school at the age of 14 and Activ8 has helped with mental health confidence and now my child is doing an NVQ with them .The team are very friendly and have understanding of all children with special needs and adapt moves to the required needs couldn’t recommend them enough and thank them for the help and support they have given my child .

My children (7 and 11) have been going to Carnforth self-defence/Jujitsu for several years now and are really enjoying it- I can't recommend Sensei Rachel (at the Carnforth hub) enough; she's absolutely brilliant with the kids!

Brilliant, sensei Rachel, looking after our girls, giving them the confidence and ability to control themselves. From Tia with autism to kelsi with NEAD, no one is left out. Fun for all. Totally recommend.

Horrific - Please do not use.

Please Note:
This review is in regards to the management of the classes and the company's response to losing a child.

If you are considering using this company please, please ask to view their risk assessments and qualifications BEFORE a child is handed over to their care.

I strongly believe they should not be used and have shown a severe lack of ability when putting basic safety measures in place for young children especially those with higher needs.

After a child recently went missing while in their care, no investigation was made by them, no attempt to reach the parent with information or console her for what had happened and after being investigated it was instantly seen that there were no thorough precautions put in place to keep children safe.

Following a meeting with their safeguarding officer it was noted that the staff are not currently qualified to work with children with high needs or varied learning abilities.

The staff have DBS checks and that is it. It is terrifying considering how long they have been operating.
PLEASE AVOID.

UPDATE
in response to the comment made by Acitv8: no member of the child's family returned to the class in question.
The reason why the owner was mistaken was due to being asked not to attend the school in question by the school themselves. This was following a threat the owner made to the family of the child, using the contact information given during signup.
I honestly don't think there is anything else I can add to this as the actions speak for themselves.

Please, please use due diligence when handing your child over to any group and ask to see their safety plans and credentials.

Been with this company for around 4 years, the team are always willing to cater to any specific needs regarding training and ensure injury's are made aware of. All of the instructors have a good mind set and are focused in proving the best service to everyone that goes would deffodefin recommend to anyone who would like to take up a martial art.
I have also worked along side activ8 helping them when needed and can not fault everything they have in place and the adaptations they make for those who need it. Special needs or injury everything is taken into account

My son has been training with this fantastic company for nearly 11 years now. They have played a huge part in his development into a remarkable, confident, kind, reliable, conscientious young man. He will be grading for his senior black belt this weekend and a promising future awaits him. Thank you to all the Senseis that have had such a profound influence on him.

I've just started both BJJ and kickboxing at Kaizen after a long time away from sport and the guys at Kaizen have been so incredibly welcoming! Great training with foundation classes so that you have a good knowledge base and understanding before starting the main classes, so you never feel like you're being thrown in at the deep end. The teaching contact with coaches is perfect, they are always on hand to help, offer encouragement and check that you're enjoying yourself, but you don't feel crowded or put under pressure. All the members are friendly too, it's a really nice environment to train, make friends and have fun in!

The perfect atmosphere to learn a new skill or to improve your existing knowledge. The people that attend are very welcoming, along with truly interested instructors who care about your progress and abilities. I have trained in previous gyms before but have never felt more comfortable compared to being here, highly recommended to all.
At first I took my daughter to karate to give her an opportunity to learn important life skills, discipline and a Martial Art, it was just a "let's try" more then "let's DO it".
After 3 years, we do not regret one single minute. She loves it and I love it too. I know she is safe, having a good time and with a teacher that I have no words to describe. Andrea is a wonderful person and her personality reflects in everything she does. She is lovely with the kids, knowing the right dose of fun and discipline, also she is a true professional.

So if you did not decide yet....stop thinking and go to enrol immediately :)
I am writing this review as a parent and as a member. I took my son to karate initially to hope he would gain some important life skills, discipline & fitness with no doubt that he would enjoy it. Not only does he absolutely love it, he loves his teacher, his fellow members and the actual essence of karate which he has begin to grasp a basic understanding of. He is safe and looked after but also disciplined and guided in this excellently run club. I am so relieved we have found this for him as Karate can be a part of who he is for his life now, predominantly thanks to his teacher. I am not a teacher but I am in awe of how a karate teacher, like Andrea, can not only teach children and adults of all ages (my son is 5) but continue on her own journey and learning too, it truly is inspiring. Her love for Martial Arts is apparent as is her passion for the club and teaching, hard work is an understatement. I took up training too and love the fact this is something I can do with my son and hopefully my daughter too when she is old enough. It makes me feel more confident, stronger and much fitter and also relives day to day stresses - a miracle in itself! The social side of the club is absolutely lovely, they go all out with thought and time and give the children party's and get togethers which is invaluable in creating a really strong team spirit! I cannot recommend this club enough, as a parent of a child or as taking it up yourself. You only have to come along and enjoy it for yourself to see the benefits of being part of such a special club. Congratulations to all those closely involved in making this club a wonderful success and may it long continue.
Hadashi Martial Arts is Fantastic, My Son has been going for the last two years and not only has he achieved so much with his Karate, his confidence has grown so much. My son had issues with his confidence which the Instructor and his fellow club members have helped him with. This club supports it's members like a family but is completly professional. The support and guidance members get with thier karate is excellent, they are always supported to reach thier full potential. My son has grown so much in the last 2 years and i know that is partly due to him attending this Dojo.
I would recommend Hadashi Martial Arts to anyone that wants to try karate and feel supported and encouraged whilst doing so.
My son has been training for just over a year. He has had a wonderful time and received the very best training available. His training program has been tailored to his needs and he has obtained the necessary individual guidance to make rapid progress. Hadashi Martial Arts offers a well structure environment where the children involved can enjoy themselves whilst they learn. I strongly recommend this dojo.
What stands out foremost is the teacher's commitment to training and teaching. In a world where high prices and poor product is ruining martial arts, it is refreshing to find an instructor/school that not only is fairly priced but has a good link to traditional martial arts.

The other surprising feature is the instructor is still training! This may sound strange, but many instructors have 'retired' and teach what they have learnt. This teacher teaches from, not only what she has learnt, but also what she is learning - so the students get current information as karate moves towards the future.

With the 2020 Olympic bid, you have all the key ingredients to take your karate into the future - An energetic instructor with true passion - A club affiliated to a true legitimate international organisation - An organisation linked to the WKF (Spearheading the 2020 Olympic bid) - And a school that wants its students to compete.

Yes you could could join the McDojo down the road, with FREE this and FREE that. Ones with prices they just make up and karate suits that look more like scout uniforms. Be careful - Black belts can either carry weight or be expensive pieces of paper. Dont be fooled by 1980s double glazing salesman strategies. Try before you buy - And try as many clubs until you find the right one.

I would recommend that you try this one. It could be an investment to your future
