Eh, they’ll usually get you in quickly but they’ve given me the MOST expensive option every time and then the vet tech made me feel terrible for not wanting to pay $100 a month for an anti anxiety med. The vet tech also contradicted the vet and the vet did not come out front to resolve any questions or issues. Additionally, the script that they gave me to refill this expensive medication does not match the dosage on the bottle they gave me, a very careless and possibly dangerous mistake. For not a single a visit have they been upfront with any of their pricing so be prepared to be hit with a giant bill whenever you are ready to leave. If they talk you into a shot that needs a booster (like the flu or Lyme), please be aware that they will charge you every single time (for the initial shot as well as any boosters.)They didn’t let me know that up front either. Not a great experience.

P.s. They refused to offer me a cheaper option despite me asking and now I’m stuck with an expensive med that he will have to be weaned off of before I can try another med.
I took my dog to Charm City on November 18th 2024 for a persistent rash where they conducted a “physical exam” as part of her appointment, they gave me some medicine for her rash and said that she otherwise looked normal.

On December 31st, 2024 I was petting her when I felt a lump underneath of her skin on her right side by her ribs which was a little concerning so I again scheduled an appointment with Charm City so they could have a look at it. When booking the appointment I made them aware of the issue that I was bringing her in for. The earliest available appointment they could give me was on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at 3:20pm and because it didn’t seem to be causing her pain and her personality was normal, I was okay with waiting a few days for the appointment.

On the day of the appointment, I left my work early so that I could get home, pick her up, and take her to the vet, but, unfortunately, I ran into some unexpected city traffic causing a delay in what would normally only take me ~10-15 minutes to get to Charm City Veterinary. Around 3:17ish I knew I was going to be late, and even though it was only going to be by a few minutes I gave them a call anyway, I apologized and informed them I was running a little behind. The person on the phone told me they would have to put me on hold so they could speak with the vet I was seeing about the situation. I was put on hold for a few minutes, during this time I was able to get through the traffic and I knew I was only ~4 minutes away, when the person finally got back on the phone with me it was exactly 3:20pm and I was told that I would have to reschedule my appointment since I was going to be late. I again apologized that I was running late but I also let them know I had gotten through the traffic and was now only a couple minutes away. And again I was told that the vet wouldn’t be able to see me because of the other patients they had scheduled and that I would have to reschedule. But the earliest option they could give me for a new appointment was another 5 days later… at this point I was upset and extremely frustrated and I didn’t want to wait any longer for an appointment for the issue I was bringing my dog in for and so I told them I would find another vet.

Now, I know I was running late, and I know that’s on me, but all I was asking for was a 4 minute grace period which I don’t think is unreasonable and I think it’s a fairly common practice to give a person a few minutes past their scheduled appointment (for any type of appointment) for unforeseen situations like this that are out of their control. Also, hypothetically, had I gotten there at my originally scheduled time of 3:20, I imagine that I would still be sitting in the room, talking with the vet, for at least 4 minutes so I don’t know what kind of appointment windows they book that they are concerned with even just a few minutes causing such an interference between schedules. But it doesn’t exactly instill a sense of time and care that I think would be needed for your patients as a “dedicated” veterinary hospital.

What frustrated me the most with this entire situation is that, as I mentioned before, I took my dog to this same vet a few weeks prior where they charged me $80 just for the “physical exam” they performed and they didn’t notice anything. So you’re telling me, after that visit, in a matter of a few weeks, my dog developed a growth underneath of her skin, so much so that I was able to feel it just by petting her… All I was asking for was a couple minutes of grace period to make it to my appointment so that they could look at this growth, an appointment I wouldn’t have even had to schedule had they done a thorough job the first time. I’m paying you a pretty penny, which I will gladly do for my dog (and you know that), so that you don’t miss things like this when examining my dog and don’t force me out of an appointment because I was going to be 4 minutes late.
the team is great and responsive, I enjoy working with Dr. Eavers for my cat. Arnold is a really dedicated team member too!
Our dog Judge has been going to Charm City Veterinary Hospital since he was a puppy! The staff is so friendly and you can tell they love their patients. We’ve always had a good experience and always leave knowing that Judge has gotten the best care out there. Thanks for all you do CCVH!
This was our beagle mix Leonard's first visit to Charm City Veterinary Hospital and I was very happy with the care he received. Leonard was very happy with the liver snacks. Thank you for taking care of our boy and making sure he was up to date on all his vaccinations!
Very nice vets and super sweet people working at the office in general. I have no complaints about the medical care but I am blown away but their prices. Shocked!!! I just took my puppy in for a fee-free follow up and asked them to clean her ears and cut her nails. I asked the tech if I could be in the room to see how she did both. I was charged $89 for 12 minutes of her time. They explained that it was a “demo” because I watched and asked questions. She wouldn’t even sell me the ear cleaner that she told me that I should be using because I needed to set up an appointment with a doctor for a prescription. I am in shock! $89 for that is NOT ok! Shame on them. Sadly I will be looking for another vet. ☹️ I’m bummed because they are in my
neighborhood and as a local business owner myself, I love supporting local.
This was my first time coming in for my other cat Suki, but they had already treated my cat Shadow for an examination. The manager Ashley is really really sweet and also Rosie sorry if i’m spelling it wrong is super sweet and comforting! Very affordable i will say compared to other veterinary hospitals the vet techs are very helpful and made my 6 months old shy cat feel comfortable in their care. It really shows that they love their job and care about their patients. I feel safe bringing my cat babies to this vet.
The vets and vet techs here are all great! You can tell they really care about their patients. We switched to Charm City Vet about a year ago after we were unsatisfied with another local well-known animal hospital. The pricing seems about the same as other local vets and they are upfront with all the costs. When our dog has been sick and needs to be seen, they have been able to get us in for a same day appointment. We have a very shy pup and they do a great job making him feel as comfortable as possible!
