Rugosa Lobster Tour’s provided a great experience for our group of 11. It was educational, fun and an all around beautiful time on the water. Shout out to teacher Mark, whose sense of humor made it such a great experience.

Such a fun tour! I would HIGHLY recommend Rugosa Lobster Tours if you're looking for something to do. The crew were fun and very knowledgeable. I learned so much and had the best time. I'll definitely book another tour with them if I'm back on the east coast. Thank you Rugosa!!! Best part of my vacation!!!

Phil and Bob gave us a great tour and lesson about the Maine lobster fishing industry. Very patient, lots of hands on experiences. Definitely recommend this company for adults and families alike!

Great experience. The smaller size of the vessel made the trip more enjoyable and informative. We passed in if the larger boats with a lot more people. Didn’t appear to be the same experience we were getting.
Crew was very informative and entertaining. The two 13 year olds that we had with us really enjoyed the experience and were glad we made the trip.

Our tour with Rugosa Lobster Tours will go down as one of our best experiences in Kennebunkport! The tour was educational and insightful but also incredibly fun and memorable! My kids loved learning all about lobstering and especially enjoyed the hands-on experience of banding the lobsters and holding the lobsters. The guides were friendly and welcoming and we loved spending time with them. We didn't want the tour to end! I would recommend this to anyone traveling in or around Kennebunkport.

Great intimate, informative, sightseeing, lobster tour. Parking at The resort property where the boat is docked beautiful little area to go to while you’re waiting for the boat. Tour is good for all ages, especially kids. They really give their all making sure you get a great experience. Both guys were top notch. All the kids were engaged the entire time. While you’re out there, you get to see the Bush compound and other beautiful sites.

Rugosa Lobster Tours provided an excellent tour. The crew went into great detail about Lobsters. Our trip to Maine centered around Lobsters and this experience was perfect for our two grandsons.

We had such a great trip! Jim, the Lobster Professor and Captain Bob were fantastic! Jim was charismatic and informational. We learned so much and had so much fun. The boat trip itself was beautiful. You get a lovely tour of Kennebunkport from the ocean. Prefect amount of sea time. Highly recommend this tour!! Thank you Jim and Bob!

One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had! Lauren and Cpt Mike were very knowledgeable and we learned so much. We had so much fun. Being from Tennessee, this was a once in a lifetime trip! Hands down recommend this tour to everyone!

The tour was really interesting! We learned a lot about lobsters and the industry. Also heard some history on Kennebunkport and Walker Point. Our guides, Bob and Jim were great! They were very helpful getting everyone on and off the boat, ensuring everyone had a chance to hold a lobster and experience banding their claws. Great job guys!

We had the best time on the Rugosa Lobster Tour! Mark did an amazing job making the tour educational but also super fun. This is a “must do” when visiting Kennebunkport or the surrounding area. Both our 9 yr old and 4 yr old got a real kick out of seeing the lobsters up close.

We booked this tour a bit last minute based on a recommendation from a friend who had just done it. Glad we didn’t miss this one. Very fun and educational time on the water. The guides made it very fun and engaging for the young ones on our boat. Highly recommend this tour while in the area. Already recommended it to friends visiting late august

We had the best time! I feel like this is such a “Maine” experience and it was interesting, fun, and relaxing to get out on the water. The guide was very well-informed and talked about the anatomy of a lobster, how the lobsterman catch them, and sell them.. the whole thing. Really interesting. She answered all our questions! And we got to hold the lobster and throw them back into the water at the end of the tour.

Had a great time on the mid-day sail in July! Highly recommend! Justin was a great guide and answered lots of questions. Loved that we could bring a bottle of wine on board. Doesn’t hurt that it was a perfect day for sailing.

We sailed on the most beautiful day with the BEST crew. I would recommend this experience to everyone. If you are reading this wondering if you should book, the answer is YES!

We had such a fun hands on experience on the Rugosa Lobster Boat! Bob and Jessie were great guides and had lots of fun information to share about Lobster with us. We got to put the bands on the claws of the lobsters, hold and take pictures with them, and gently toss them back in the water. One of the best tours we’ve been on!

Great value trip! Crew was excellent. Very friendly and a ton of great info. Been going to Maine for 30+ years and I we are always looking for new things to do to get off the beach before we turn into Lobsters! The tour was just long enough so you couldn't get bored and reasonably priced. Great for kids and adults.

Fantastic Voyage on the Pineapple Ketch, beautiful ride and knowledgeable and friendly crew. Will be back again, and will recommend the experience to friends.

We just completed a 4 night stay at the Nonantum Resort. Conveniently docked directly behind the resort is the Pineapple Ketch. We booked a one and a half hour scenic cruise at noon. The captain and mate were super friendly and knowledgeable. We motored out the Kennebunk river and raised the sails shortly after. There was no waste of time the dock and we are truly got an hour and a half on the water. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and a nice breeze. I would highly recommend including a trip on the Pineapple Ketch to your visit to Kennebunkport! (Photo is of the Ketch behind Nonantum Resort)

This excursion was a highlight of our New England vacation! We loved it! Even the pouring rain couldn’t dampen the fun of seeing the lobsters up close and learning about the life of the lobster and the lobstering industry. Our captain and first mate were warm, entertaining, informative interesting, enthusiastic and most accommodating. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience this fun and fascinating adventure!

We have been sailing on the Ketch twice a year in August and September since 2008. We have done Sunset sails (outstanding ambience) and Mid-day sails in various wind conditions. It never seems to matter as time spent on the water around Kennebunkport is time well spent. The Captain and his crewmate (over the years, assorted personnel), regale you with the history of the shoreline and the rules and regulations of lobstering, as you see so many lobsters buoys on the sail. You are invited to bring your own drinks and food if you prefer. We always pack a bottle of wine and some cheese to enjoy while we take in the fresh air and view of the open water surrounding us. It's a great way to spend some time with nothing to think about but the water and the wind (hopefully)! Highly recommend this!

We sailed on the Pineapple Ketch on Father's Day of 2022. It was a wonderfully memorable experience. Originally I setup it up for a gift for my Dad but my husband really enjoyed the sail especially the healing :-). Lovely captain and crew. I would highly recommend!

Superb sailing experience! We loved our intimate cruise on the sea. Justin was a great seamen with lots of intimate knowledge of the history of Kennebunkport, its residents and industries. Would highly recommend and plan to do it again when we return!

In our recent two-week vacation to Kennebunkport, Maine (a regular destination for many years between 1980 and 2005, and we'll not wait another 12 years before we return again!), I went on a terrific whale watch, but my wife wasn't up for the four-and-a-half hours on the ocean.
So, since we were staying, as we always do, at the Nonantum Resort, we decided to give the two-hour trip on the Pinapple Ketch a shot. I'd never been on a sailboat and it had been decades since my wife had, and at two hours it seemed like the perfect way to get out on the ocean for a shorter stretch. And the PK launched right from the Nonantum, so it couldn't have been more ideal!
The trip, which took us along the Kennebunk River out into the Atlantic, and along the coast, where we got a chance to see the Bush summer home as close up as you can get, a few seals and birds, and just a lovely look at the craggy Maine coastline, couldn't have been more fun...and educational.
Both the captain and his first mate (?) were great...especially his first mate (sorry, if not using the correct term and I've forgotten their names), who was particularly terrific in explaining many things - from what we were seeing and some common bits of information about lobster fishing, the various buoys and more. He was also very patient in answering my many, many questions about sailboats, since this was my first trip on one. A relaxed guy with a great sense of humour, he and the captain were what made the trip especially worthwhile. The scenery would have been enough, but they made it a far more enjoyable experience.
The weather couldn't have been better; sunny, without a cloud in the sky, warm and with the water perfectly calm, also terrific visiblity. I've included a few pictures that I shot during the trip, just to give you and idea of what we saw.
It was such a fun trip that I know, when my wife and I return to Kennebunkport in another 2-3 years, we'll be sure to go back out on the Pineapple Ketch. We may know the coastline very well, having been out on boats along it many times, but this was a really special way to do it. And we always want to get out on the water a couple times during a trip. So we'll see you again in 2-3 years, guys...and thanks for a really fun, educational and relaxing time enjoying the sights along one of my favourite coastlines in the world.
