Overall, the build quality of the bathroom remodel was good, but the customer service was terrible and very unprofessional. We were initially quoted $12,000 for the remodel, with the understanding that this would cover everything. However, the final cost ended up being $19,500. While we did add a few small items midway through the project, these should not have increased the total by more than $1,000.

Halfway through the project, I began receiving separate bills for subcontractors (plumber, electrician), which was unexpected but manageable. Unfortunately, the rates and fees for the subcontractors were excessive, and the plumber charged for more hours than were actually worked. I have exterior cameras that confirmed the actual hours worked.

On the last visit, the plumber spent two hours reinstalling our toilet and hooking up the tub drain. For this service, they charged over $700, despite not using any parts. The drain didn't work, and they never returned to fix it. This charge was at least $150 more than it should have been. I had to purchase a new drain and a tool to install it myself, costing around $125.

I requested a detailed breakdown of the charges but never received one. I paid what I believed to be fair and informed them that I would settle the remaining balance once I received a detailed invoice for the additional $150. Months later, after I fixed the drain, the new Moen faucet started leaking. When we contacted Durfee about this issue, their response was, "It's karma for not paying the full price for the plumbing."

I strongly do not recommend their services.
John Dana is the best contractor we have worked with. His workers do excellent work. He keeps a close eye on the budget and works hard to keep costs in line. John has given us excellent advice and suggestions to improve the house before and during construction. We live 400+ miles away, so trust and communication are very important, and John earned our complete trust and communicated constantly to keep us up to date. Building a house is stressful, but John made it a lot easier.
Nobody and i mean NOBODY durfs a House better than Durfee Construction. They will fully make your eyes pop out yo head with amazment at the magic these boys pull off. If farting rainbows and handing out lucky fluffs of unicorn tail hairs were legal... They would do it so.
Best contractor in the area. Amazing crew. These guys are very professional and easy to work with. Talented and hard working employees with great attitudes.
Brodie and his crew are awesome! High effort, attention to detail and professionalism.
I have worked with John on over a dozen project. Always a pleasure from the beginning to the end. Small bathroom remodels to 4000sf custom homes.

John is finishing a custom timber frame build for us. We have been working with him for almost 2 years from the design phase through construction. He was honest up front about the costs to build what we were looking at and worked with us for possible budget alternatives. He handled all of the interactions on any design questions or changes with the timber frame company and traveled to see their site and operations first to ensure that everything met his and our quality standards. We were remote and he handled all of the little things that came up and researched options as we went along, presenting us with the options, pros and cons and the costs. He has been there working with and for us every step of the way. I cannot imagine another contractor that would have provided us with the level of service and honesty that John has shown throughout this build. Our friends who have visited the site all comment on the quality of materials, construction and how impressed they are with John. If you want an honest, skilled and experienced contractor who will work with you and have your best interests at heart, Dana Construction should be at the top of your list.
I had high hopes for this company and Jon Dana himself. We had a small addition on to the back of our home that we wanted a bid on and pretty much have him do if he had time in the next year. Jon came out and looked at our project personally (great!). Then asked me how much awe were looking to spend (red flag). He then Asked me to send him some other information and that he would get back to me in a couple weeks. I was excited to know I'd found someone local to do our addition. A week later I came home to drawings at my front door and a note to call him. Again, very excited to talk with him and see what his thoughts were and to get bid/estimate on the job. When I called him he asked if I had other bids and I said I may get one more but everyone else is too busy and I asked him what he thought it would cost to do the addition. THATS when he said he didn't neeeed to do bids just to do them, that he's very busy and If wanted a bid I'd need to use him and give him $3,000 DOWN just to get a bid price out of him! I was shocked. So he had time to come out and look at the project, time to drop drawings off at our home...but NO time to give us any kind of price without a NON refundable down. So then basically if we gave him the down he could bid whatever price he wanted. Sorry Jon, bad business. I was really hoping for more. I'd give zero stars if I could.
