We had such a laugh talking our photos the staff were so helpful and took our photos for us would recommend going here for some fun
Very good and interesting, but wanted to see more overall very good, staff excellent and well presented. Staff was there to explain about each illusion in each room and was ready to help you take pictures very welldone :)

Such a fun experience during our vacation in Thessaloniki! My kids had a great time. The staff was very friendly and walked us through the museum.
Very welcoming and friendly staff, place is interesting for the visitors or any age. Also has lovely souvenir shop.
Interesting variety of Illusions you can interact with with the history of each of them. We spent an hour and a half here with kids and they loved it! Tickets to visit via timed entry were cheaper online.

Dont be put off by the outside - the museum looked closed. It is an Incredible museum, actually underneath the Roman Forum. So informative - added bonus a lovely lady showed us around. Well worth a visit.
The forum is closed until 2025 but the small museum is nice and open. You can see alot from the top but the museum helps you understand what you are seeing

Amazing amazing amazing from start to finish, well worth the visit and at only €4 entrance. The exhibition rooms are in number order as you work your way around, great audio so remember your earphones.
The best €4 spent it was fantastic travelling back in time. I didn't think to take my earpods, so please remember to slIp them in your pocket/bag so you can follow the download. So much to see
Fantastic museum documenting early to late Byzantine history of Thessaloniki. The museum is amazingly laid out and it's easy to understand every exhibition. They had beautiful icons. When I visited they had a wonderful temporary exhibition about an Armenian photographer who lost much of his family in the genocide. A must-see in Thessaloniki!

Basic museum of Byzantine Culture in Thesaloniki.
The place has a lot of historical objects displayed, but something about the place does not give a curiosity spark.
Moreover, it seems like some od the antic bowls, are not that antic.
The small entrance fee of 5 euros, still does not the place worth the time.

Byzantine museum in the greek cultural center of Thessaloniki. Entrance says official language was Latin. No evidence of this in the displays. All greek, as the entire roman empire spoke greek universally.
I reckon the IOC would put together a waaaayyy better museum but this is what we got.
There’s a great timeline from the first Olympics games until now, that traverses 130 years of human history in the context of sport. Like, Titanic happens, WW2 happens, quarantine in Australia still happens, etc.

I wish there was a better introduction to the Byzantine culture like what is it etc at the beginning itself. By the end you will become more familiar.
The audio guide is quite detailed. I appreciated that you could borrow an audio guide If you did not want to use your phone to save data or battery life.

Very nice museum with a rich collection of arms, uniforms and artillery, with details from various Greek wars. My 8 yo enjoyed it. For younger kids not amusing enough.
I suppose when you think about European history and art and architecture, you will think about Greece. Or about Alexander the Great and this place had a huge trove of information to share.
It was also ironic that most of the lovely treasures were off their history tombs….which is not surprising as our historic knowledge is based on that.
Which reminded me that the European culture pillaged the rest of the world from their land, people and resources. That they even realised the values of the tombs and the likes of civilisation of the world and pillaged them and took it to their own museum to show them. Now that is civilisation!

The museum is very large, rich in exhibits and information. You can spend few hours there if you are passionate about this topic. The price is very good!
For what is worth, this must be the one of the best museums I've been in. Astonishing display of ancient histor, right here in front of your eyes, makes you grasp and feel so much awe. This is a must go place if you ever visit Solun/Thessaloniki. For 8 euros you can get 2 or 3 hours worth of value.
History and mythology are intertwined in ancient Greece. This museum contains a nice collection that depicts both to shine a little light into life in ancient times around Thessaloniki

A good range of exhibitions, covering a wide range of history. The basement exhibitions only have Greek descriptions, the other floors have English and Cyrillic. At only €4 for entry, it's good value for money.
An excellent and rather large collection of weapons, military equipment and documents. The only problem is that the civil war in Greece in 1941-1944 and 1946-1949 was skipped, while the space is devoted to irrelevant topics.
When we visited, the site was closed to the public with no signs indicating when it might reopen. The museum itself is small and leans heavily on pottery, though there were some intriguing pieces and facts. The staff trailed us the entire time we were browsing, which felt pretty awkward. The ticket is bundled with access to the Palace of Galerius, but honestly, at 8€, neither spot felt like it was worth the price.
A war museum shows weapons, historical documents, and war-time pictures. I feel so fortunate that I am living in the peaceful era. Hopefully we don’t have war anywhere.
Kind and helpful personnel. Great amount of historical and archeological findings. Informative descriptions and illustrations both in Greek and in English. If you want to read everything you would probably need 5-6 hours at least.
Beautifully displayed archaeological museum, one of the largest in Greece. Gold and artifacts from ancient tombs dating well over 1000 years. Don’t miss the Field of Gardens outdoors (no tickets required for outside).
Interesting experience, especially when you share it with your daughter. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Some illusions need more attention to understand though. We visited the museum on Tuesday and it was quite crowded. But still good. Toilet is available. I definitely recommend it.

Nice to see ancient Roman buildings in the middle of the city.
The Roman was something out of history itself, well preserved and incredibly breathtaking to look at. However, it is currently closed for renovations so we could not walk inside, still 5 stars because being closed for renovation does not ruin the experience! Highly recommended!
The museum has 11 rooms to visit, and each room is perfectly clean, beautiful, rich in artefacts, explanations, and history. There's also an audio guide (handheld phone device) in every major language, and the whole museum is well ventilated, and once again, extremely clean and spacious. There's a lot to see, the museum is included in a special package that costs 15€ for 4 different places in Thessaloniki (archaeology museum, white tower, byzantine culture museum, rotunda), which is a bargain. All in all, this museum is a must-see for every history enthusiast, and a pleasing endeavor for everybody else. Once again, the number of artefacts and findings, and the state in which they were kept is outstanding.
I went at 7:30 pm on one of the free museum nights (Aug 1 & 31 are free after 6:30 pm). I didn't know about these free nights, so that was a nice surprise. The museum stayed open until 11 pm, so I got to see everything and take my time admiring all the various collections. It was not crowded at all so it was a pleasant visit. The museum is beautiful, and uses a virtual reality app on your phone too for a more immersive experience. It's well maintained and I learned a lot about the early Christians and about Byzantine Culture. It's definitely worth the visit, and I would have paid had it not been free on the day I went. I would recommend this museum 100%.

A diverse and rich museum of Greek military history. It is being delightfully renovated. Would have liked to see a selection of books in English about the subject that I could buy. Otherwise this was the perfect gateto another viewpoint of history. Love it
A beautiful museum in the heart of Thessaloniki. I was truly impressed with the exhibits. The combined ticket for all the museums was very smart even though I didn't have time to go to them all. Awesome experience

A poor brother of the Archeological Museum. There's one ticket to see the Museum of Roman Forum and the Place of Galerius.

Sadly the only museum in Thessaloniki which is not worth a dime. It’s very expensive, very little and the exhibition look like the one of your local high school
Beautiful roman forum but there is more to be uncovered or restored maybe in the future years!

Very big museum with great exhibits. A very helpful person sold us tickets and explained what the museum had to offer. Downstairs has not English translations but those are the smallest exhibits. The rest have great pictures, life-like mannequins with army gear and helmets, and more! I feel like I have never seen so many types of guns in my life. Definitely a good option for people that want something outside as well. Cool jeeps and vehicles are displayed outside. Overall a great place to visit.
When we visited here, it was closed due to restorations. However we could see it from the street side. Some biblical scholars believe it is the market place which is mentioned in the book of Acts 17:5 (NT), that apostle Paul and his companion was greatly pursecuted. Worth visiting if you're interested in the history.

Very interesting to see all the memorabilia and in depth explanations of the ancient Olympics. The girl working up front was very kind and even gave me some recommendations for where to eat and visit in Thessaloniki.
A must visit Museum. Learnt so much!! Visit it with our without family! Our kids love it! The Ancient Greek Olympic spirit is still alive!!!
Interesting museum undergound. It isn't very big but still interesting. The tunnel entrance is huge and makes a nice impression.

Quite interesting museum about not only the history of the place but it also presents how it was discovered and made available to the public instead of building a new court building on top of it. The museum is underground, below the square. Plenty of history and archeological findings.
