Great to learn something about storytelling and the development until digital art. A little bit too much text for smaller kids but they have more than enough buttons to press and keep busy while the adults browse.
Small downside is that it is that the "attractions" are rather busy if there are too many people and it's hard to enjoy the full experience then.

It's a lovely museum for kids, especially if they enjoy crafts and drawing.

Really nice insights about how animation, storytelling and games are made. We spent almost 3 hours in this museum 😂

Museum on comic art with a nice overview of different comic styles
Currently (from March 2024) a special on 50 years of Franka.
Museum located in the new Forum building in Groningen city centre on the sixth floor and can be reached by elevator on the east side of the building or by multiple escalators.

A great museum showing the basic principles of story building in different ways. Also really cool to see original drawings, sketches and storyboards of some famous comics and animations

Very fun and cheap! Highly recommend going
Nice museum close to the station of Groningen. It had some nice exhibitions and was very quiet, so you could really take it all in. Would definitely recommend as a must see when visiting Groningen.

Lots of fun and worth my money! Woman at the counter was super nice and the exhibitions were fun. Would have liked to have seen some more about the history of astronomy in Groningen but that's personal preference. Definitely recommend!

We did go for the Unzipped exibition.
That one did not disappoint so if you got time make it a weekend or city trip to Groningen. The collection is small but the art of the ploeg is right up my alley. If you like memphis design there is a nice room devoted to it. So it is worth the long trip!
I went to the Rolling Stones exhibit. It was so impressive! Three floors with all their own clothes and instruments. You could even come backstage. Charlie's Drum Kit that he played at the Kurhaus! The show that lasted a few minutes. Everything is there. It was like standing in the front row!

Very nice museum, with interesting exhibition. Just that exhibition is not in English, and the English guidebook always cannot match the orders of items there😹It could be more friendly!
Also pay attention to the signs of bathrooms, I almost went wrong because of graffiti...

small museum, interesting to see some of the university’s history, and the temporary collection with Ghent University was intriguing. for students of RuG, or under 18 the tickets are free too, so it is definitely worth the visit.

Visited for the Versace exhibition, which was definitely worth it, with combination of stories and collections and it’s really impressive and complete experience.
The museum itself nice paintings, and combination of modern and classic art.

It is recommended of you are in Groningen. Easily accessible by train, as it’s just across the train station.
Ticket is just €15 p.p. and free if you have Museum cards.
The museum is excellent, the reception staff extremely friendly and helpful.
I loved being part of a study about time and contributing to a psychology project at the University of Groningen, I found the study very interesting and hope to hear more results.
After the study we visited the museum upstairs and also found it interesting, organised and curious.
I recommend, don't miss this museum.
A very nice interactive exhibition called 'Time will tell' and an interesting small experimental Indonesian exhibition.
The interactive exhibition about time perception was extremely nice as well as the anatomy room

Pretty nice museum, i loved the 'Time will tell' exhibition a lot, there were some experiments around it in which we could participate and they were fun. It was cool to read about how our mind perceives time, and the experiments were a good way to learn more about my own time perception and reception.

There were multiple collections, the one focused on Indonesia was very nice. Then they had a collection of stories in the science domain, of leading Dutch scientists and Nobel prize winners. It is a very nice place to visit for students in my opinion.

The museum is new. Everything is still in its best condition. Most of the displays are interactive, which is a good idea, so visitors can understand how manga/animation/video games are created; and of course the kids absolutely love it! The staff at the reception are also very friendly. When we were 15 minutes late, they still accepted us. Our fault. It turns out that we were the only visitors at that time. So it feels like the entire exhibition belongs to us.

Museum about storytelling in animation, strips and games, and how they are made, with some interactive installations. Not super serious and in-depth, but rather a short sight into the development of these art forms. The most interesting part, in my opinion, is the chance to see some of the hand drawn sketches and drawings of the artists on display, which you can otherwise only see digitally or printed in books. Especially the temporary exposition of Loish was worth it for me and that's also why I came to Groningen.
