It’s a wonderful museum filled with such great history that I never about it! The staff were so helpful and wonderful. They handled an emergency we had there with such kindness, professionalism, and patience. Hannah, Cynthia, and the security guard (I didn’t get her name) were top notch! I would recommend any history lover to come discover this gem in downtown New Haven!

A hidden gem in New Haven. Formerly the New Haven Historical Society, this museum has an extensive library and collection of historic New Haven artifacts. We were fortunate to come on a day when they had a special hands on tutorial for researching building/house history. Such fun to take a step back in time. Upstairs, they even had a display of the 1980s artist squatter culture in the city's derelict watch factory. Will absolutely come back and keep eyes open for more free events and opportunities.
The website says it's open but it isn't. As of Aug 17th they're working on a new exhibit. Don't waste your time like I did. Call before you go.
A really interesting museum if you like local history. The tickets for students are $2 and only $4 for adults. It's small but there is a lot of information.
Independent art center with a changing series of exhibits. Was a themed group show when we went. Housed in an old mansion. Keep an eye out for openings and special events.
It's always nice to check out the local museum and this one was no exception. It's fun, expansive, and very affordable, go check it out.
It to me is what a museum is. The history going as far back as the 1600's was great. The artifacts were incredible.

I enjoyed the museum. The early history of New Haven exhibit was very interesting. I also enjoyed the Quantum Mechanics exhibit and the Cinque exhibit, in particular.
Super cute smallish place, very nice receptionist. The building itself can use some love (so if there are donors out there who want to be involved, this would be a great project). The artwork itself was very interesting and really current and relevant and it was fun to see how the space was used. The pieces were very conversational and some were interactive which was super fun.

One of the best art galleries in New Haven, both for its artists and architecture/layout. The performance work I've seen here made great use of the space.
Lovely small cutting age modern museum worth visiting in New Haven. Always happy going to shows that are innovatice, well conceputalized and with unique and established artists.
