Beautiful museum of instruments to acknowledge yourself with the history of Venice from the musical perspective. The lady working there is super nice, we had a wonderful conversation about the Venetian virtuosos’ concert that I visited the other day. This museum is a must see!

Website suggested entrance was free (only lists a charge for the audio guide), and no signage inside the building indicates an entrance fee. It seems like they might decide on the spot whether they want to charge you to enter or not? (If you look like a tourist they’ll charge you.)
The church also closes randomly for concerts with no warning. Posters for the concerts outside the building indicate certain concert times, but not all.

The Pierre Huyghe exhibition was able to transport emotions in a way I haven't experienced before.
Total rip-off, small and overpriced museum is full of replicas. Nice building to look at from the outside.
San Maurizio is a Neoclassical-style, deconsecrated church located in the campo San Maurizio in the sestiere of San Marco of the city of Venice, Italy. It now is a Museum focusing on the music of Baroque Venice. A church was present at the site before the first reconstruction in the 16th century.
It is closed. And there is no information about it in google. We lost time to get here:(((
An amazing collection of antique string instruments. The audio guide gave just the right amount of information. The church that houses the museum had a very close connection to Vivaldi making it even more memorable.
This was an exquisite and private place. The owner, who never lived there, spent a lot of time personally laying the marble mosaic floor and collected beautiful paintings and statues. It has a great view of the Grand Canal.

The secret itinerary tour was great. Got to see areas not open to the general public, including Casanovas prison cell. Well worth it and the best part of the palace in my opinion. Could have spent hours here after the tour, there’s so much to see.
This foundation is associated with several different museums all of which I have really enjoyed visiting. They have absolutely amazing displays of artworks, artifacts, statues, paintings, weaponry and much more. They are very well preserved and displayed in the museums. They are all very educational, historical and interesting, I would definitely recommend visiting them, take a look at which museums showcase what specifically and go check them out. You will definitely enjoy visiting some of them.
Visited in early November. Impressive ! Went in without any prior research or plan. They will check your bags through security upon entry; it was very fast efficient and friendly process. The whole place Feels like a labyrinth it’s easy to get lost and still enjoy it but I recommend a guide or at least an audio tour of some kind . I used Rick Steve’s but it never lined up exactly for me lol. There is a nice little gift shop and cafe at the end. Don’t miss the bridge of sighs it sneaks up on you a bit.
I have visited this incredible little spot in Venezia almost every time that I was with my dearest friend, Andreina, who is Venetian. It is extraordinary ~ if you have Jewish roots ~ or Jewish friends, as I do, you should go, visit, meet the wonderful people and bring something home.

Very lovely architecture, very well kept building, seems like it’s used for events and venues. There not a whole lot to see here but it’s definitely very nice. And if your in Padua I would check it out; maybe they have an exhibition to see or something.
Beautiful palace. I'd spring for 4 museums in a visit. Each floor is very different from the next. Completely worth it. My photos don't do it justice. Visited in late November so got right in. The normal queue lines were beside us and you can see where it's normally out the door when people go in season so beware 😲
Very awesome place to visit. Theres lots to do and see in and around this area, they have several museums to check out and various types of historical artifacts, statues, antiques, paintings and artwork. I really enjoyed my time here and it was definitely worth the visit. I would most certainly recommend checking this place out when visiting Venice.
Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!
Very nice museum, lots on display. It has a very nice collection of ancient and antique artifacts. Lots of famous painters have their artwork located in here. It has many lovely statues, mini figurines, and artwork. The building has very lovely architecture and you get a wonderful view of the grand canal. I would definitely recommend checking out this museum.

Thought-provoking. Casanova didn't escape from this side he escaped from the cell's inside the ducal palace. I don't think we would've heard much abouts him if his stay was in there. 1m thick walls.. no escape possible.

I suggest you get your tickets online the day before or on the day if your lucky to purchase them.
You can purchase tickets on the day if its not busy. We picked a day when the weather forecast said rain.
Even with online tickets in hand you will still have to join a queue.
Set by at least 2hrs to get round this place. Its massive.

It was a nice experience, I had learned a lot of things about the conditions of detention and about torture , as well I had learned more about the city and the history of the city from Tiziana Azzalini. She is a great tour guide, friendly, with knowledge that exceeds the position she holds and keeps you interested until the end. I suggest you look for tour guide Tiziana Azzalini.
Not to be missed both for the collection but also for the stunning floor and wall mosaics of the ground floor.
Venice is the hometown of Vivaldi. This small museum has collected over the past forty years various attempts at making Italian violins, guitars, and woodwind instruments since the 16th century. The most powerful pianist invites musicians four or five days a week to play Vivaldi or the Marriage Concerto on seventeenth-century violins. In the past two days, I have acted in The Doors and Four Seasons.
Super windy and rainy day. The St Macro square outside the Musei got flooded.
Excellent museum. Fine attention to history as each display in 4 languages. Extensive history at each display and very well done. The building is incredible inside and well worth the fee to visit. The armory halls especially piqued my interest. Excellent display. Would definitely visit again. I did a self guided tour but the audio tour would’ve probably been helpful. Excellent indeed.
Visited for an exhibition (Chronorama) of the history of photography, relating to Vogue magazine since 1910. €15 entrance fee, Bistro on site (but not visited by me)

Beautiful little museum. It has several unique instruments, plus some historical treasures like manuscripts of famous composers. If you’re a musician or music teacher, or enjoy music in general, you should definitely pay a visit. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the labels didn’t have any information about the instruments, so people unfamiliar with the period wouldn’t understand what they were seeing (for example a viola d’ amore would look like a weird violin to the untrained eye). Still, a great experience.
we saw a great exhibition on Vogue magazine. The building itself was also exquisite. The ticket will give you and access to both museums.
A nice lovely area away from the main paths of the city. You can just feel the history this area is full of. A calm place at this time and age.

I have just visited the latest exhibition at the Palazzo Grassi - Chronorama: Photographic Treasures of the 20th century. The exhibition consists of hundreds of black and white photographs from the early 1900s to about the 1970s. Whilst I found many of the photographs interesting, especially those of models (so very different from fashion shots today) and building, sometimes I felt underwhelmed. The building is refined, the staff not so much.

Great guided tour of the two Sephardic synagogues in Venice and explanation of the first ever Jewish Ghetto. Cost is only €15. As of September 2023 two of the original three synagogues are under refurbishment, and the Jewish museum itself is closed for renovations.
Amazing place to visit to see the oldest ghetto in the world and an important part of Jewish history. Make sure to buy tickets to have a guided tour for only €15 a person. Note that as of September 2023, the Jewish Museum and multiple synagogues are closed for renovations.
Das 'Goldene Haus' der Erbauerfamilie Contarini ist ein spätgotischer Palazzo (1421-1442) am Canal Grande, dessen Fassade einst in Ultramarin bemalt und mit goldenen Steinmetzarbeiten verziert war - daher auch der Name. Nach dem Untergang der Dogenrepublik wechselte er häufig seine Besitzer, wurde verändert und total vernachlässigt. Schließlich drohte er zu verfallen bevor er 1895 von Baron Giorgio Franchetti gekauft und aufwendig restauriert wurde. Der Baron plante von Anfang an dort seine private Kunstsammlung unterzubringen, die er testamentarisch auch dem italienischen Staat vermachte. Heute werden vor allem venezianische Bilder & Skulpturen in der 1927 eröffneten Palastgalerie gezeigt, deren prunkvollste Stücke von Guardi, Mantegna, Tiepolo oder Tizian stammen. Aufgrund fortlaufender Restaurierungen ist die 1. Etage noch immer geschlossen; aber allein der Ausblick vom Cortile oder dem Balkon im 2. Obergeschoss lohnt den Besuch. Übrigens befindet sich der unscheinbare Eingang (von der Strada Nova kommend) auf der linken Seite.
Discovered an interesting historical place of Venetian Jewish Getto. There are kosher restaurants that offer traditional Italian and Jewish dishes. Synagogue and Lubavich Jewish center is here.

Very fascinating Jewish community in Venezia. We didn't tour the museum and it was just a small Piazza but the few wall sculpted pieces along with a wall memorial was interesting.

One of the two outposts of the Pinault Collection in Venice. Grand building with always interesting exhibitions. I enjoyed the current "Chronorama. Photographic Treasures of the 20th Century" with many classic photographs by famous photographers such as Edward Steichen, Horst P. Horst, Edward Weston, Lee Miller, Berenice Abbott, Irving Penn, and many others.
Short (30 min).but excellent tour, Kristen was a very good guide with so much knowledge and very nice. Best to book directly online, you do not need to go through Venice tours SRL company. Not the best communication from the company when we wanted to change our tour time but Kristen was extremely nice and allowed us to start our tour early.

We have to admit that the Pinault Collection and all artists represented have the both iconic places in Venice you can imagine. The restauration work have been done in respect of this fantastic place.

A right turn off the beaten tourist path had us immersed in an area of Venice with so much history and culture.
Knowing the history of this area is a demonstration of the resiliency of the Jewish people.
This area is worth a visit and can't be without a visit to one of the lovely cafés.

If you are a string instrument musician, this museum is a must-see! Violin carving demonstration based on a Stradivari pattern, violins, violas, cellos, double bass...all ancient and beautiful. If they are offering a concert while you are in town you should go. We did and it was magnificent. They included the museum admission and the concert was in an 11th century church where they played 17th century music. Spectacular experience. I will remember it forever.

Amazing space and art gallery. Went in on the afternoon on the 4th February. Hardly anyone in which was incredible considering how busy Venice was due to carnival starting.

This is François Pinault's second museum for contemporary art in Venice. You get a combined ticket for the two and the exhibition on display just now, featuring the South African painter Marlene Dumas, goes well with that on Bruce Nauman in the Punta della Dogana museum. The premises are beautiful and each paintings is perfectly lit and isolated from the others. I definitely preferred her portraits to her more erotically leaning paintings. The fifth star is given for the excellent brochure, presenting all the paintings on display in detail.
Inside is not interesting but terrace view is gorgeous, forget the show

The Pallazzo is worthy of its name. One of the most beautiful exhibition locations I've ever been to. If you look closely, you can see what it must have looked like in the past. The exhibition was also set up very nicely and the rooms were accordingly not overcrowded. In addition, there was accessibility (ramps and elevator) and lockers were provided without money. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. Restrooms were clean and accessible, and there is an elevator in the building.
Very interesting! Includes lots of authentic instruments and architectural features. The tour guide was amazing and very willing to answer all questions. Really recommend!

A great way to learn more about the new prison and lead by a wonder little team! Would recommend combining a tour here this with a visit to the doge palace to get a real good look round

Die Ca' d'Oro ist heute ein Museum. Zur Zeit ist die zweite Etage wegen Renovierungsarbeiten gesperrt. Der in Innenhof beeindruckt durch das kunstvolle Bodenmosaik und die große Empfangshalle zum Wasser hin. Auch von der ersten Etage hat man einen wundervollen Ausblick auf den Canale Grande.
Drinnen sind zahlreiche Plastiken und Gemälde.
Ein Besuch lohnt sich jedenfalls.

Friendly and informative tour guide, (Silvia I think?) who gave us a detailed tour of the ghetto, pointing out the different areas and history and then took us into the large Sephardi Synagogue. The actual museum is currently closed for refurbishment. Highly recommend this tour, even the teenage kids enjoyed it!
Mostra al Palazzo Mocenigo, non riusciamo a prenotare online i biglietti. Diverse chiamate al numero di telefono indicato per la prenotazione senza risposta. Ci presentiamo al museo in perfetto orario e ci viene negato l’accesso perché la biglietteria é chiusa ore 16.45.

Venice is an unique place to find the prints of jewish italian life. If you go to the Gheto Vechio, you will see the carving of mezuzahs at the doors, kosher restaurants, bakeries, judaica stores and the Jewish museum with its three synagogues (one of them still functioning today) you’ll tour trough Venice’s jewish life and connect to it. In the museum they offer guided tours in english and italian. If you want a deeper conection to judaism in europe, do not hesitate.

A nice art museum funded by LVMH so you know the quality. There’s this huge “zen” looking mosaic the entrance hall, simply stunning. Their exhibition is well curated and use its space very well to exhibit.
20Eur entrance also gets you into another museum that is funded by Prada foundation so yes it’s worth your €€

Great way to experience the story of the Jewish community in Venice, which is a very fascinating history.

Sehr interessante Führung durch die Synagoge. 12€ für Museum und Synagoge. Das Museum ist jetzt nicht so interessant denn das meiste sind ausgestellte Dinge aber die Geschichte der Juden hier in Venedig ist auch schön beschrieben. Es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall! Ich persönlich bin hier her gekommen weil ich den Thriller von Tess Geritsen (Todenlied) gelesen habe und dieses Buch hier spielt. Fazit: Wer Venedig aus einem anderen Winkel sehen möchte ist hier richtig.
