A beautiful waste of time.
Long version:
A small but beautiful display of various musical instruments with some text and sound demonstrations. It could have been a great experience, but there was almost no context given, no clear path (or paths) to move through, no clear connection to either general history or Judaism, and mostly just the geographic source for an instrument was given, which was just not enough info on which to relate. Most interactive screens and displays were out of order, and it was unclear whether some or any of the instruments could be handled or touched, so we steered clear.
In addition, visitors are given a tablet and set of headphones to go through the displays, which quickly becomes repetitive and disjointed while also completely isolating you from the environment (and from your partner or group, obviously). It just feels weird moving around silently through a museum of music.
Lastly, it was not cheap (60 ils pp). For this sum, i would expect more involvement, rather than sending me off alone on a confusing and random tour.
A shame, really. I don't recommend it.

We spent a wonderful afternoon at the monster exhibit! 14 inflatable monsters are installed around the gardens among the beautiful flora from all around the world. Amusing information and commentary accompany the exhibits.
Our 8 year old thoroughly enjoyed discovering the creatures and reading the information.

Unique museum that shows us the history of how religious beliefs were forged in the countries where it is spoken of in the Old Testament.
Great place for kids of all ages. The special exhibition תחושת בטן was fabulous and the Bear Clinic is lovely. Although the place was full, there was plenty of room and we enjoyed it.
Very nice museum telling the story of Islam through art, culinary, etc.
The place is small but has an interesting and diverse display. Don't miss the clocks display as well.

This is an amazing museum. It's small but has a Very impressive collection of Islamic art. Highlight of the museum is the classic clocks collection which is unique. On display is the only one in the world Marry Antoinette clock! and collection of clocks by Breguet. A must for a visitor in Jerusalem and clock enthusiast!
Very interesting museum. We visited for the Hebrew language tour of Islamic food history and art, and tasting (kosher). Fantastic guide and a wonderful experience for the two of us, 😊😊

Fun for kids! I went with 0-8 yr olds and it was a wonderful experience for them. They can touch, play and manipulate the exhibits. They watched a live science show too. It's indoor and air-conditioned. There is a kiosk to buy drinks and snacks and plenty of tables in the courtyard to eat lunch at.
A must go to, not for actual musium, but rather for what the museum is about, it's scary, how the evil non-religious government at that time, will do bec of a little pressure from terrorists, if gush katif wasn't a religious town I'm convinced the government would have never given it up!! Shame on them!!
The exposition is excellent, staff is very nice and helpful. The museum misses a cafe which is across the street - in the Museum of Israel. However the last closes much earlier. So we came there 30 minutes before closing and could hardly liaise to buy sandwiches that were tough to eat.

I suspect it would have been a lot better with a tour guide (the staff were lovely), but as a musician going round with the tablets and headphones, it was a bit disappointing. It was not clear what instruments you could play (if any) as there were signs that said "don't touch" everywhere. I'd encourage the museum to make that a bit clearer.
I would have also liked to have more context for the music - there's nothing on the scales and theory used by Jewish music and some rooms are limited in their explanations.

The lady called Sharona at the reception ruined my visit. When I passed her my student ID in foreign language she said that she will not provide me with the student discount as I do not DESERVE IT (these are her words in English). Her face impressed disgust and arrogance. I visited dozen of Israeli museums with my student ID, and this was the first time of such an attitude. Finally her colleague gave a student discount, but I do not recommend the visit until lady Sharona works there. she is someone who does not fit to work with people. So, I do not recommend a museum who hires people like her.

So many wonderful artifacts here. I could have spent the whole day there. We had a free tour guide in English who was very knowledgeable too.

Would wish there would be more information about ancient jewish instruments from biblical period. Other wise it's perfect. Can see various musical instruments touch some and spectacular 3d instalation about the tample.

went with a group of students. walked around with the tablets. it was quite dull and boring, even for myself and others in our group who were interested in music. the fact that everyone just walked around with headphones on made that we had no interaction with each other. the museum was pretty and organized but it was hard to get a picture of what was going on, and the students walked out without learning anything. the interactive games weren't working. overall a somewhat interesting quite boring experience. definitely not worth 60 shek a person.

One of my favourite museums in Israel, it's a great place to visit no matter your age. There are many exciting exhibits and very friendly and helpful staff. If you have the rare opportunity to peek "behind the scenes" in their workshops where they build all the magic, it's another amazing experience you will never forget.
Excellent museum on the history and rich life that existed there. Two movies, lecture, and incredible exhibits.
My wife and I arrived a few minutes early and found the staff to be very pleasant and friendly. The actual museum was designed and built in Middle Eastern finish and decor of a very high level. We took the guided tour with a young man named Asher who proved to be a master musician on antique middle eastern instruments. His demonstrations on many of the instruments together with his tremendous grasp of their history gave us a very special and unexpected experience. Our tour was in Hebrew. I don't know if Asher guides in English, but if he does and you need English I would say do not miss the opportunity. His Hebrew is clear and easy to understand. Out of our many wonderful experiences in Jerusalem over many years, this was one of the important ones not to miss.

Nice museum full of interactive and engaging experiments for kids of all ages. We visited it on the International Museum Day. There were plenty of parking. The staff were very nice and helpful. The museum has a nice outdoor area for eating and for kids to play. Good place to visit with kids.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY : We were so excited to see this "Botanical garden" as photos uploaded looked amazing (very deceptive to do this) , but upon our visit we saw a very neglected, littered and under nurtured dry place, full of weeds and trees, and we could rarely find any flowers. There seems to be no maintenance to this place whatsoever, the small stone monuments are neglected, which I find very djsresptful. The garden is full of labels but no flowers there. Over priced too - 40 NI per person. The only good things perhaps were the water fountains, which had water and were cold, and the shade, which honestly can be found everywhere in Jerusalem. Really disappointed.
My kids have spoken about this museum since we left... we were there on a Friday so we only got to spend 2 hours there, and we need to go back and do so much more!
Loved it because i have to confess - im history nerd and all my nerdiness needs were met. there are artefacts from 10.000 years of human evolution and israelic history on display. I loved every minute of my visit.

Even a statue of Ramses II is integrated in the exibition.
My advice is, you first go to the Bible Land Museum Jerusalem and than you visit the Israel Museum because the stories told in both are so well connected.

A very interactive, up to date, comprehensive science museum. Cute but some parts were a bit old and the explanation signs too long and difficult to understand for young kids (5-9 years old) and sometimes even for adults. The museum is very interesting , no so big and easy to access but if you are looking for a calm atmosphere where you can take your time and learn something, this is not the best place, babies , toddlers and children running around everywhere, out of control, mamas with strollers ,babies crying etc ,

On the one hand, the place is really neglected, the windows of the exhibits are broken and they fixed them with adhesive paper, the floor and the walls have seen better days, the exhibits are dusty and some of the explanations have fallen off, and the place is very, very old-fashioned, don't expect to get something similar to the Nature Museum in Tel Aviv, on the other hand, there are things that are very Interesting to see and the children did enjoy it, the most beautiful thing is actually the garden outside, there is a nursery, a sustainability garden, a kitchen and a few games for children and sculptures, I think you can enter the garden even without entering and paying at the museum, you should check it out. The building and the courtyard are beautiful and pleasant, but the museum is in a deplorable condition. The exhibits are mostly tattered and crumbling stuffed animals, and there are also some dioramas and other exhibits that are brought in sloppily and without thought. The staff are polite but not very helpful. Too bad😥😥👍

I suggest coming in fair weather, it's a bit too hot in summer. Really special place in the middle of the city. It is a small and very touching memorial to what we built and what we destroyed. An hour is likely the most you will spend here in order to see and take in everything.
If you like history, in this museum you will learn the history of the land of Jerusalem, the journey of God’s people from Genesis to today. Kings and conquerors and much more!
Lots of plants to see and the whole place is a short tour around. We were there for the winter lights festival and it looked spectacular!! A worthy visit if you're around, and I'm sure that during the day and not in a festival it looks great

This place used to be a jem when it hosted multiple cultural initiatives, but all of them were kicked out recently. The museum itself requires major renovation, the collections are old and not captivating at all. The garden surrounding the museum is pleasant though

חובה, חובה, חובה לבקר במוזיאון המיסים. הוא מוגדר כ'קטן', אבל גיליתי אותו כענק מבחינת עושר המידע, המוצגים והמיסמכים הנדירים. מי שמפיחה רוח חיה ומעניקה את הרגשת החזרה בזמן לתקופות הנזכרות, היא מירה דרור, אישה קטנה ועדינה אבל אדירה במידת האינטליגנציה, המסירות ועושר השליטה במידע, מלאה כרימון ומרתקת. המוזיאון הוא הפנינה ומירה היא היהלום!!
A not so big but very interesting archeological museum. For those who like archeology - statues, mosaic, ancient artifacts. I loved it.

Fascinating deep dive into a little considered subject, from antiquity to the modern day. Mostly in Hebrew. Entrance is free, though you should call ahead of time to make sure it'll be open, give it a chance!

המוזיאון קטן באופן יחסי אך מכיל פריטים ומסמכים רבים מתקופות שונות בהיסטוריה ומציג את מערכת המס מהיבטים שונים. בהחלט מומלץ לכל מי שמתעניין מעט בהיסטוריה!
זכינו להדרכה אישית של מירה, מנהלת ומעצבת המוזיאון, שסיפרה לנו על כל מוצג ומוצג במוזיאון באופן מעורר השתאות שהאיר לנו זוויות שונות ומרתקות על פריטים שנראים פשוטים ורגילים ממבט ראשון. אישה מקסימה ונמרצת שהצליחה להעביר לנו את התשוקה והאהבה שלה לנושא והיא זו שהפכה את החוויה והסיור במוזיאון למוצלחים כל כך- ללא כל תמורה!. הידע והניסיון הרב שיש לה מרשימים ביותר ואלה גרמו לנו להסתקרן ולהתעניין עוד ועוד בנושא. תודה רבה מירה!

The lake: is little but what interesting in it? Its hydroponic garden (that mean: the fish is eating food "doing" their job and this water goes to the garden), in the lake as i said there are koi fish and frogs.

It is a very interesting museum. Very quiet and off the Touristen stream. Don't miss the showroom with the clocks. It is the highlight. Any writer would get here the inspiration to write a book.
We visited the Jerusalem botanical gardens during autumn season, it was pretty magical. I didn’t know you can see such great fall colors in Israel. The North American section was the best, the oak trees are beautiful and the local beautiful woodpeckers were adorable. Maintenance is still in progress and some parts are not done yet. The restaurant next to the gardens are pretty good two.
Although it was closed on the day my husband and I walked through this museum area there was much to see outdoors. There were several exhibits and learning areas. The grounds we're large and rustic a nice place to stroll in a lovely outdoor setting. Fascinating that this museum is nestled in the heart of the city close to the Community Center, First Station and many restaurants. Very much enjoyed our time there.

But after so much struggle and much more work, finally the Sculpture Garden was completed.
Today’s generation perhaps doesn’t know it’s history, but this is the way life flows. Old things will be forgotten.

Don't miss the Temple 360 experience at the end of your tour, you are transported to a different time and era. Thrilling! We took the guided tour (you have to book in advance,no extra charge), recommended. Otherwise, there are tablets with earphones, all included in admission price of the museum. They say you need an hour, I could have happily stayed two + hours and if you are an OCD musician, think three to four hours!

The summer daycare activities are wonderful - pleasant and educational, for both of my boys (6 and 8 year olds). The activities of the "camp" are mostly outdoors, and that helps tire them out even further, which is pretty important to summertime parents!
The boys proudly presented the contents of the museum itself, which is housed in a huge villa of a style that was popular around the start of the 1900's. However, it's location is so close to the restaurants and shops on Emek Refaim (literally the next street over) that you can use it as a waypoint, and the parking lot as the start for the next part of a day's trip, or the wind-down to an evening meal.

This unique museum tells the story of the music Jews were playing in all the various diasporas around the world. As Jews were dispersed all over the world, the music, the musical instruments were very different, but the stories their music told, the prayers were very similar as they had the same soul, the soul of the Jewish people. Museum is very well organized, has explanations and various interactive stands for children. The highlight is, of course, the point of the virtual reality demonstration which tells the story of the Temple. Great place to visit both for children and grownups.
Arguably the most nugatory museum in the history of unavailing superfluousness. I'll bet you a fist full of shekels this unmeritorious exhibit's tax-exempt status provides insufficient public benefit to justify what amounts to a government subsidy. Skip this one and question everything.
Beautiful small garden full of fruit trees and vegetation. Very clean and taken care of. Very interesting displays of different ways to grow crop especially in a desert. A lot of shade, little ponds and comfy places to sit down and chill out or have a picnic.

A magical museum with an amazing collection of Islamic artifacts from the niggle east and Europe. There's also a collection of clocks from The Victorian era, with an interesting story behind. It also exhibits contemporary art in relation to the collection. Worth a visit on your second or third visit in Jerusalem
This small museum is a monument to the expellees from Gush Katif. It memorializes the amazing community they developed and has vivid and moving evidence of their contributions to the world. The museum itself is small, but well worth the time to examine details of this time in our history.
